  1. How do you do it when the customer doesn't want their gravel filled with woodchip and sawdust.
  2. I agree, most of my customers are a min 2 cube gotta think long and hard to come up with the handful of people who buy a single bag. and other than to trade customers the only nets I sell are for campers in the summer. I have seen on reservoirlogs.co.uk they used to sell I think 15x40 ltr sacks was the equivalent of a builders bag which around here most use the 90x90x90 never measured myself to see if it was accurate.
  3. you cant get a seasons logs in a boot, depending on the area you live a lot of people wont put logs into their boot, renting an old filling station is expensive with no client base to draw from. importing these logs is not excatly green putting 2-3k miles on them and for a lot of customers local sustainable logs is important.
  4. I guess depends where you are, older generation round here is used to burning their logs with coal and have no idea about seasoned logs it's like banging your head on a brick wall trying to educate them, roll on the 20yr olds who are happy to do a bit of googling for some basic education first.
  5. I try to deliver within 2 days of an order being placed, normally its next day
  6. I've been using the ring blade with the posch but getting a few people been asking for bigger logs so for this season I've gone with the 8 way so I expect I'll be getting complaints logs are too big now.
  7. seems my posch 3200 is way under then most i've done is 3 cube an hr.
  8. any pictures of the knives and maybe the logs from an 18" to see what like they are.
  9. Started filling this last week but hand feeding the processor is damn slow. hoping by the time its full will take 350-400 bags
  10. hi Jon ye cord looks fast but damn it shakes alot can see lots of trouble with HSE if bought one.
  11. 7 bulk this week, actually a bit of a chill in the air last night maybe were getting early winter
  12. starting price £115k but with the right timber does something like 30 cube an hour
  13. Isn't that willie laing running firewood from the old sawmill there. I'd be interested who they are getting in and what machine they have I know they tried to get campmuir to process for them but they refused.
  14. I would be looking for the 2040 or 3040 have the posch for upto 13"
  15. I've wanted a multitek for about 15 years since I first saw them online. But with a starting price of 115k + any options would need a lot more customers or contract work. Imports might work for some but majority of my customers ask for locally sourced timber.
  16. been browsing a little seeing some setups of the competition and wondering how many people hire processors rather than buying their own and are you just hiring the machine or operator also. what machines are available and rates day or week.
  17. well they haven't sent me a polling card last 2 elections even though I filled in all their forms maybe that's how he plans to win
  18. are you coming home to watch the mass exodus over the border if salmond wins his referendum. will be like the clearances all over again.
  19. I find spruce burns great, can practically light it with a match no kindling required true it burns so clean there are no embers left but excellent to get the initial temp up although if buying softwood id rather go for douglas fir.
  20. If you don't want to go hydraulic just mount a hand crank winch same as used for changing out splitting blades on processor its just a boat winch some tubing and a pulley. yes you can pull the bags off or hand ball the logs onto the drive but you cant beat a nice tidy bag sitting in the driveway.
  21. I agree 20t minimum on a verticle we have the posch 30t horizontal does 2.4m but I'd recommend going 50t version it can bog down pretty easy in big stuff unless ofc you only get nice clean ash etc like you see in promo vids.
  22. you should have moisture checked and reported to trading standards.
  23. I'm thinking about doing away with my 90x90 bags and just using s g bakers 1m3 bags.
  24. We lifted the bonnet to wet the engine down and try to lift the cab. soco are in atm trying for prints from the gate they climbed over and having a look at the machine, so who knows maybe there will be some luck yet.
