  1. Should be interesting!.... please be honest and only vote once. cheers, steve
  2. I did my CS30/31 not long ago. Officially I think you may need official PPE gloves with chainsaw protection (upper left hand) but if you don't have any maybe ask them in advance if it's okay to wear more comfortable chainsaw gloves, ie just for vibration purposes. cheers, steve
  3. Eco-plug my butt! Utter greenwash!.... ECOPLUG -Enviroment
  4. Is there a law to say fuel duty may only be claimed on road going vehicles? Now, THAT would be something!
  5. That takes some beating!
  6. I'd say the standard Husky 15" bar feels nicely balanced on my 550xpg and when it needs replacing I'll go for a solid Sugi bar. I've also got a Sugi Light Pro 18" (there's more weight savings on longer bars), but I've not used it yet. Cheers, steve
  7. I've been wearing Buffs for years. I got given a bunch for free when I was helping an inventor/ friend. He made a swing called a G-Board and Buff were one of the sponsors. Buff could do well to advertise on Arbtalk.... a very useful and under-rated bit of clothing. Cheers, Steve
  8. Very windy here in South West Wales tonight - weather warnings are in force.
  9. Everything we buy has some kind of environmental impact - isn't ignoring the facts a big part of the problem?....
  10. Nissan nv200 is very good on mpg.
  11. Usually drink tea - but for the work flask I use instant coffee & highly recommend the Lidl fair trade.
  12. ...and infinity is never ending.
  13. Who is Jeremy Clarkson?
  14. Hi, we're close to Haverfordwest and have been considering turning all the paths between our beds (currently grass) into thick mulch paths. I was planning to use chip from our own woods but that seems a bit crazy if you're dumping loads. Is all the mulch chemical free, ie not mixed with any treated wood? cheers, steve
  15. There's a 9t one on Arbtrader at the moment... Timber trailer ArbTrader Arborists Classifieds
  16. Dean... it's a weird thing how everything seems to happen in slow motion - I guess it's something to do with an adrenaline release to deal with surviving a life threatening situation? cheers, steve
  17. Yep, and that's a big part of the reason I have a keen dislike for chemical farming. Healthy soil vs Dead sponge
  18. I witnessed a serious motorbike accident years ago.... the rider wasn't wearing a helmet and was probably doing 60/70mph in a 30mph urban area. He missed me and my mates by inches and wacked into the kerb just in front of where we were walking.... he got flung over the handlebars and hurtled into a car park wall.... from that point he was like a doll spinning and rolling down the pavement for 25m. We ran up to him and it was serious, mostly head injuries. None of us moved him because of the risk of a broken neck. Five minutes later his breathing was getting worryingly quiet/shallow with increasing gargling sounds (blood in his airstream). I decided to move/cradle his head slightly backwards which helped relieve the blockage.... eventually the ambulance arrived. He had emergency surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain and was out of hospital within a month - not in perfect condition, but certainly a very lucky person! It took months to get the thing out of my head.... it was like a slow-motion movie on repeat. I still remember every detail Talking to friends & allowing time to ease your mind worked for me. Personally I don't trust GP's with mental health issues, or therapists.... but I guess that depends on if you have a good GP?
  19. Nice idea with the punch hole. cheers I'll chat with Slack-ma-Girdle to go through the various cuts and what info to include. Needs to be simple looking as possible.
  20. That's what I felt..... there is alot to remember in a short space of time. We got given an A4 manual for the course (which is excellent for all the specific details and has great photos).... but when stood out in the woods and trying to decide which cut to use the A4 manual just isn't practical. I think a laminated reminder would also be useful (a memory jog) for occasional tree fellers, ie, farmers, etc. Cheers, Steve
  21. Judging by the spelling & grammar he's probably well within limits.
  22. Not thought about selling them, but yeah I could fine tune the layout a bit and get quotes for waterproof cards to be printed. It's too much of a faff to print & laminate lots at home. It would be good to know various chainsaw trouser pocket sizes.... the ones I've printed for myself are about 9cm x 12cm and easily fit in the Stein pocket. cheers, steve
  23. I made a few cowboy cuts during the training! Lol
