  1. I've just completed doing my CS31 training with Slack~Ma~Girdle (Felling & processing trees up to 380mm). Really enjoyed it. I found it's quite a lot to remember all the various felling cuts & which situation they should be applied (upright, backward leaning, heavy lean, etc). So, decided it would be useful to keep a basic laminated reminder close to hand.... ie, in my chainsaw trouser pocket. If you've only just finished doing your CS31, you may be like me and need a bit of memory assistance!.... I guess occasional tree fellers might find this useful as well? cheers, Steve
  2. Yep, pigs, chickens, etc.
  3. There may or may not be a revolving door for that as well. Monsanto propagandist Ronald hoodwinks Scientific American (again) | Natural Grocers

  6. I think it'll be worth keeping a regular close check on that Jon.... the water must be going somewhere!

    550xpg

Been using my 550xpg (2013) today with the heated handle switched on - (which is the first time I've had it switched on).... was very nice to be working with warmer hands. Apart from being a bugger to start when it was brand new it seems to have settled in nicely. Now running it on Aspen. Apparently the early 550xp's had teething problems.
  8. I think I've confused myself - i think I've seen quite a few ads of tdi defenders replacing their faulty tdi engines (not tdci). Maybe I should get a Hilux after all! cheers
  9. cheers - do the tdci engines have problems? I've noticed a lot of Tdci Defenders for sale have had replacement 200tdi or 300tdi engines fitted. Sorry to hijack your thread Jon!
  10. I thought the 300tdi was deemed to be better than the 200tdi.... what's the difference?
  11. Who's Justin? cheers
  12. Where's a good place online to buy genuine Husqvarna parts? Think I should order a few spares (like spring mounts) for my 550xpg.
  13. Did you have any luck with this? cheers
  14. Haha! Good reverse editing skills.... no doubt some people will want to buy a tube or two.
  15. Planer/ thicknesser. cheers
  16. That's food for thought - Sounds like we'd better use some decent weld mesh for the chicken tractor. This ultra-sonic fox deterrent gets some good reviews: https://howtogetridoffoxes.wordpress.com/2013/10/08/does-the-foxwatch-ultrasonic-fox-repeller-work/ cheers, steve
  17. What's a good option for 240v (not 3~phase)?
  18. Damn, won't it?
  19. Haha! I'll definitely remember that advice! cheers
  20. We're getting ten ex-commercial hens next month and will (initially) be housing them in two chicken tractors (a mobile hen house with mesh run). The plan is to cordon off a large area with electric fencing to keep the foxes out..... ....so we need to buy an electric fence kit (posts, wire, battery, etc). Anyone on Arbtalk using a solar powered electric fence kit? Any advice or links to manufacturers appreciated. cheers, steve
  21. I've seen quite a lot for sale a fair bit cheaper than that - but I guess the tipper conversion would add up to a couple £k's to the value of that one. If it's done very low miles then maybe it would be worth that?
  22. I've looking at getting a proper farm vehicle for a while now and think a LandRover 110 High Capacity 300tdi pickup should do the job. What common problems should I look out for? Or (being a Landy) should I assume everything will be wrong with it? cheers, steve
