  1. Planer/ thicknesser. cheers
  2. That's food for thought - Sounds like we'd better use some decent weld mesh for the chicken tractor. This ultra-sonic fox deterrent gets some good reviews: https://howtogetridoffoxes.wordpress.com/2013/10/08/does-the-foxwatch-ultrasonic-fox-repeller-work/ cheers, steve
  3. What's a good option for 240v (not 3~phase)?
  4. Damn, won't it?
  5. Haha! I'll definitely remember that advice! cheers
  6. We're getting ten ex-commercial hens next month and will (initially) be housing them in two chicken tractors (a mobile hen house with mesh run). The plan is to cordon off a large area with electric fencing to keep the foxes out..... ....so we need to buy an electric fence kit (posts, wire, battery, etc). Anyone on Arbtalk using a solar powered electric fence kit? Any advice or links to manufacturers appreciated. cheers, steve
  7. I've seen quite a lot for sale a fair bit cheaper than that - but I guess the tipper conversion would add up to a couple £k's to the value of that one. If it's done very low miles then maybe it would be worth that?
  8. I've looking at getting a proper farm vehicle for a while now and think a LandRover 110 High Capacity 300tdi pickup should do the job. What common problems should I look out for? Or (being a Landy) should I assume everything will be wrong with it? cheers, steve
  9. The standard purple Landrover door comes with a wooden stick for the door stay.
  10. The paint code is there to help you purchase the original colour so you can spray a section only to find out find out how much your vehicle has faded to a different hue of blue.
  11. It's a view across the meadow to our favourite part of the farm, a small circle of trees. We've been told that they were used as a way marker / signpost.... something to do with the Knights Templars (in 1156) & Hospitallers (in 1280 ish).
  12. This is the window from the mezzanine floor....
  13. This one deserves to go into the Arbtalk 'Top Tips' archive!
  14. Without all the cladding on....
  15. Sounds good. Do you have any photos or video of yours? cheers
  16. I predict if the oak posts were dipped or painted with Tuffdip they would last for at least a couple centuries.
  17. It's all pretty solid but I need to attach a few horizontal beams to the upright posts....
  18. Still loads to do but it's getting there....
  19. Makes complete sense to me.
  20. I think we need to be as energy efficient as possible before resorting to generating unescesary power..... then we probably wouldn't need nuclear, etc.
  21. Yeah, has worked for us (so far). If our Sitka posts stay rot free for 4 or 5 years I'd say it's good proof that the TuffDip works. But we're only just into year 2 since putting them in the ground.
  22. I'm carrying out important Internet research I'll 'ave you know!! Now that I know what size nail to use I'm now looking at a wide range of hammers.....
  23. Does an £800 flea bay used kitchen complete with all appliances look like this? Um.... definitely not! And most of it is still clogging up the living room.
  24. That's looks great - and a great unfussy design/ but high quality. I'd be proud of that.
  25. I've heard that argument before with bitumen based products but I haven't seen any evidence of rotting or snapping off. Do you have photos of this? Our posts were full of moisture before we applied Tuffdip to the bottom.... and now the posts are very dry. Presumably the moisture has wicked up the post.
