  1. Which came first? The building or the permission? If no planning permission was sought then it sounds like you need to go through a Retrospective Permitted Development route, but I'm not sure how / if that is possible? If planning was originally sought & granted then i guess it was for commercial use? (which is why they are asking for rate payments), if so then you need to go for change of use (for agricultural forestry purposes).
  2. Automatic Permitted Development rights (for agricultural purposes) only exist for areas above 5 hectares. Councils can have input on the siting & design.
  3. okay, no worries as your photos show exactly whats going on. Big shame on the developers for doing this - your local newspaper should run a story on this.

    sap

I've been cleaning sap off the Silky Saw with either of the following: a) butter b) lard c) olive oil d) vegetable oil choose one of those, scrub for a while using an old toothbrush, apply a squirt of ecover washing up liquid and rinse under warm water. Try it and let us know if it works??.....
  5. Do you have a scale plan of the development area near the tree to upload here?
  6. Shame how houses have been granted planning permission within close vicinity of a "Huge" Horse Chestnut with a preservation order.... I imagine doing groundworks in the same area of the tree was always going to result in serious damage to the root system. Maybe they (developers & planners) expected 'something like this' to happen all along?!
  7. Hurts i bet. After handling loads of blackthorn today not a single one got through my Ripeur 2 gloves.... and then, right at the end of the day, WHAM!, got one straight through my welly into my ankle! It's out to get us i tell ya!!
  8. Are you sure you got all of it out? http://www.medicinenet.com/plant_thorn_synovitis/article.htm
  9. It's been a lovely day here today in Pembrokeshire, but now it's tea time and there are some ominous clouds building on the horizon. Batten the hatches.
  10. We're in the middle of making our little boys xmas present ~ it's a DIY WigWam. 8ft ash poles (drying out fast & starting to split!), 2m of rustic rope and a patchwork cover. Also working on some small accessories to go with it - log slithers, etc p.s... only one light bulb in the light fitting to save 2/3rds lighting energy!
  11. Great stuff. How is the log rounds table held together?
  12. I've only seen guidance that relates to householders, but does the same guidance apply for a workplace/ workshop/ commercial building, etc?
  13. Haha! It's what iggle piggle uses for pruning in the night garden Rumour has it that the pontipines have been struggling with the Silky GENKI and took out their neighbours!
  14. Yep, the Natanoko 60 is an amazing tool. Natanoko 60
  15. Yeah i did see the video, and it looks brilliant. Big shame that nobody is making or supplying them here. Any other bandsaws worth considering?.... that is, portable ones.
  16. Didn't know you could get a bandsaw unit to fit a chainsaw. Who makes and/or supplies them in the UK? We're going to need loads of weather boards cut for our barn, could be from oak using a mobile chainsaw/bandsaw.... sounds like much less of a workout compared to doing all of it with an Alaskan.
  17. good on you Absolutely agree, is a very worthy cause.
  18. Too windy to be in the woods now, in pembrokeshire. Did manage to cut a big spruce this morning and used the top of it for our xmas tree. Is really nice to have something a little more unusual.... has a double leader. For the first time is a great feeling to be able to get a tree from our own woodland, for free, and without any fuel (cut it down with the silky - took a while!).

    Huge!!!

Yes, and how do you know it's not stolen? Are you 100% sure the copyright holder posted this image? Same goes for the stolen chipper example.... how do you know if the person selling it is the actual owner?
  21. SteveA

    Huge!!!

I do agree!....but the point I'm making here is that others may not, and thats when things can get very messy with lawyers issuing demands for £thousands. just looked at the arbtalk rules: "You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright or you have written consent from the owner of the copyrighted material."
  22. SteveA

    Huge!!!

And, once that stolen chipper is up for sale on ebay?
  23. SteveA

    Huge!!!

.... a photograph up for sale (or license) is a product. Equally, a photo can be an advertising tool.

Yep, photos are tools to photographers.... and 2 wrongs dont make a right!
