  1. Only fixing the PC tower because it has a working CD drive. We have two Macbook Pros and both have had the cd drives fail. Apple certainly aint what it used to be, the reliability is a real issue, especially for the megabucks money. My Powerbook Pismo (G3 laptop) is still working, whilst my recent macbook pro died, says it all. Anyway, nevermind all that, its just technology..... and on that bombshell, look at what i've done with the microwave (for constantly beeping at us)
  2. Dya know what.... that thought has crossed my mind a few times today! Seriously did!!
  3. My homemade bread needs a chainsaw to get a slice, nice idea Planning on getting the 18" Sugihara lite bar, been chatting to Rob at Chainsaw Bars about that
  4. Haha! SUBTLE!
  5. My first plan was to get something second hand and then noticed how high priced they tend to go for + the risk of buying a bad saw put me off. I did phone a bloke up who sells loads of used saws on the bay, but his cocky attitude really put me off (thats his loss). I think it's worth saving the extra and getting a spanky new one with a warranty. If you're skint just keep using the Silky for longer and keep saving over a longer period.... thats what I did. Actually, it amazes me how much work I've got done with the Silky. Gonna keep using it to save on fuel, and noise.
  6. Had a macbook pro and it melted, get a Stihl??.... get a life!! (wrote this on an ipad)
  7. Hope it doesnt spill into tommorow, aaaaaargh!!!!
  8. Well my first ever chainsaw arrived today; freshly delivered by the F R Jones enterprise. Trouble is, getting the bleedin' crappy computer to work has taken the whole day up. But I did manage to give myself 5 mins to try on the Stein Freddy Krieger trousers (very comfy) and break open the Husky box. But unfortuntely, overall, the final score for today is: Windows XP, one..... Husky 550xpg, nil
  9. Thanks Alec. Think I'll start making some pegs right now and bring them indoors to dry out.
  10. My non internet, non camera phone battery lasts at least 5 days and it cost £nil pounds and nil pence
  11. I just get anything thats going free because i always drown the damn things. None of my mobiles have ever had inbuilt cameras or internet Might get an iPigeon next
  12. Yes it's all heartwood oak - really looking forwards to fitting it all together. So should I just use green oak pegs? cheers
  13. Good advice that. I managed to slice my knuckle with the Silky Natanoko at the end of the day today.... nothing major, but deep enough to sting like a Was the final tooth nearest the handle that did it, just like you said. Seriously considering doing what you've suggested....
  14. I need to construct something to train our climbing & rambling roses. Wanting to have it a) long lasting and b) cheap ....so I'm looking to use a selection of fallen oak branches. I'd like to join where the branches crossover each other with wooden pegs, but I havent got any pegs made up or ANY seasoned wood. Would hornbeam be good for pegs?.... or ash?....or something else?
  15. Would a counterbalance help as well ...ie, do you find yourself lifting up the weight of the powerhead to prevent a tilted cut?
  16. Doesnt it dangle around and get caught up when you're pulling the wood out? (pardon the above, a perfectly innocent comment!)
  17. I think they're not really that expensive to buy. Have a look around for prices mate
  18. Ah yes, makes sense now. Thankyou But not understanding why the pin appears to be permanently attached to the chain link?
  19. Seeing the veins pumping in your left arm on those photos gave me a thought. Why not have a counterbalance weight (same as the powerhead weight) on the opposite side of the alaskan mill to stop it being heavy sided?.... Couple that with a remote accelerator and a hand winch. Easier?
  20. ....this is a new one for me, what's the needle thing about?
  21. Maybe they get a buzz from living in fear of being squished?
  22. Haha, yeah, and OMG, just imagine if you were sat on the bog as it happened!
  23. Which chainsaw are you running?
  24. Yeah, i think they may move the road around it! Good thing is that that one may help stop any others smashing the house to smithereens.
  25. Maybe should have titled it as: "gurtest most massive boulder you've ever seen in your life smashes through barn!"
