  1. be nice to hear a response from the guy who started this thread? surely he's reading all this. come on fella give us your comments? Think we would all like know your thoughts as to what's been said?
  2. Not disagreeing with what has been said Steve and not getting into any arguments with anyone. I gave a straight answer to the guys question and who am I to judge what they wish to do in there own time. Last post for me on this subject.
  3. The guy didn't ask to give him a lecture about drinking and driving. He asked what he should charge for a call out. Up to him and his look out if he wants to drive and work over the limit. Why does it always have to go of subject on these posts when someone asked a simple question. Just tell him what he should be charging. I said £150 call out and £250 for the job total £400 min.
  4. Why should that matter?you gharge accordingly and a fair price for the job to be done. end of.Being cheap is't a good way to go. The word get's around quickly and the public are more sensitive about anything that's cheap. £400 minium for a cal lout and 2 men.who would gharge less?
  5. Easy Answer £150 call plus whatever you want to charge on top.if it was my job price would have been £400minium.hope that helps?
  6. A Arren ya fixable don't bin them there are still the best for the money. you in all black country dude? you be back in April?
  7. Good on ya fella would be good for someone to get some experience and travel a bit I guess. spose depends on each individual's circumstances.
  8. great idea fella but can't ever see you getting any half decent guys to do it for nothing. It's a skilled ,dangerous and expensive industry and to be doing our kind of work for free is a none starter at least for 99% of the guys on here. family, morgages, staff etc. could see a good opportunity though just like RED ADERE doing oil well blow outs could be good money if networked correctly? Sorry to sound harsh but real world nothing free. best of luck anyway.
  9. joe public always go on first apperances and if you do look well presented in what you are wearing it go's along way to getting more work because you look more pro and approachable in smart and the correct work clothing rather then ripped tattie t shirt and trousers.it may well be a bit of ocd and I know I have it but I still get stuck in and work as hard as the next guy but can always manage to look smart and tidy.it's just a case of what suits one person may not another.would't do for us to all be the same.agree bout the helmets, should be able to make your own call on that one.what if you want'd a protos?
  10. That's a standerd perk of the job we do.
  11. As long as your boss is supplying for you it's a spot on idea.I do tree and landscapeing.I wear the standard orange, black and gray,hi viz etc for tree work and karkie, brown and green for the landscapeing.all printed.looks smart and pro and you feel good even when it,s plasterd in mud;shaveing,s etc and get comments on how smart and pro I look.clients like you to look smart when working in and around there house and property.
  12. My vote is the FAVORITE CLIMBING PIC'S there are some awesome pic's on there. The one with the snow coverd ceder is a great pic.
  13. Not another land'y?Seems to be the tool that's on the I want to nick list at mo.Am in Worcester so between were you based and were it was takern from. Will keep a sharp eye out for it.You just never know.Hope you ok for another work vehicle and can keep going?
  14. I gave a simple answer 2 pages ago.It really only takes a quick answer and was given. If you look at most of the advise given as what to charge you will see that £120 seems to be agreed answer to the lads question. It's now his choice as what to do.Either take the advise given or not.Simple
  15. Would just like to add that the more Establised firms would charge £300 plus. But you are just starting out and you have I guess not a lot of overheads? so don't price yourself out of getting the job.It could always lead to more work in the long term if you get it,do a good job and at a realistic price.
  16. don't price this type of work by the hour or you will never ever make any money.Always give a price for the whole job to be done according to the difficulty factor,Access and tools to be used,Removel of brash, chipping, cord wood and log's etc.wheather removeing of site or moveing to somewere on site to be burnt etc. This all takes time and you will learn that the jobs you think will take a short time to do most times turn out to be the one's that take the longest to do.this job sounds like 2 hours may be 3 max £120 in out get your money and move on to next job which you could fit in easy same day.
  17. easy to price small jobs like these. £120 minium.
  18. I think if you buy cheap you asking for trouble.if you are going to do just a few job's on wk'end's etc and depending on how big the jobs are you don't have to spend big for a saw. There are many makes apart from stihl what would do what you want for now and the makes you mention'd would be ok.Remember you don't really have to use a top handle in a tree.If you have a small ground saw and nothing else it would do a job.But a top handle makes the job easier.Depends on what your budget is really.
  19. Lost for words for you bud nothing anyone says can stop that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach which then turns to anger. I have askd this before put never a straight answer.WERE THE HELL IS ALL THIS STOLEN KIT GOING?there must be tens of thousends of pounds of gear going somewere?

    Buxtons

Buxtons need to up there game a lot, compared to others there service is pretty poor. They have a real nice set up but there sales manner needs sorting.I used to use them a lot but after a few episodes with them and the final straw was at the arb show this year I won't be using them again. GUSTHARTS are spot on as with any of the orther big 3 or4. any of them would have given you a replacement and sort'd it for you no questions.
  21. Binatone action 950 or 1000 10km range and good build quality have had mine a few years now and still working good as new a nd they won,t cost a fortune.

  24. Its all getting really silly now I would like to know were all this stolen stuff is going and how they are moveing it up and down m.way.s etc to get it to were it.s got to go? Am gutted for you dude and your company up go.s insurance premiums aswell makes you wonder why we keep doing what we do when this is happening day in day out. Have been told lots going to eastern European side.does that answer any questions?
