  1. It's the same as most things. It suits some and not others and it's a personal thing and could work for one person and not another.
  2. I would go in low at May be £300 and test the water so to speak but go no more then £500. But down to you how much you want it and how much you will use it:confused1:
  3. I use a petzl large 2ring swivel and i use it in all climbing I do. Good for re-directs etc and saves the twisting of harness bridge. Good piece of kit to have and there are a few around now:thumbup:
  4. Roughly £4'000 new and extra for the trailer which is optional. If you going ARB SHOW or APF and chat you might get a deal.
  5. West woods that size are not strong enough for paddock type work. The twin cutter bearings aren't made to take heavy thick grass cutting. So just offer him a decent price and if you want to take his paddock job on make sure you do 2cuts depending on length of grass, max ht cut then bit lower.may take bit longer but will save your machine and if you don't leave to long in between cuts it won't take as long as first.
  6. I think you have just said what all us using any type of mechanical climbing devise are saying, in that no matter how much time the manufacturers test there products every situation can't be replicated. It's only out in the field of use that it gets put through it's passes. It might be a good idea that if and when any body's zag fails they should put a small note with it when they send or take it back just explaining the process of climbing as to when they think the fault occurred? I still think it's a good piece of kit and petzl will get it right. They really can't afford not to.
  7. Ya totely agree with what you say. I wonder how many zags have been sold and how many are still being used by climbers who are not in the loop with laptops, iPads etc and know about the problems petzl are having with them. Or are petzl confident that the fault is't going to cause a climber to fall as a result of the fracture occurring we're they are.
  8. If petzl have sent out a statement regarding the problems with the zigzag and have made a recall on them they have covered there backs so if anyone continues to use it and it fails then surely that person won't get any come back and is putting there safety at risk if they have any problems after the date which were given for recall etc. Am I correct in thinking that?
  9. If you do get one invest in a cocoon pulley or something that reduces the friction it just helps a lot with the overall climbing and self tends a lot better and you get more climbing time and wear out of your rope. Is shame bout the zigzag though it's a great idea and sure there will get it right but the confidence in the product has and will knock it back.
  10. Don't give up on mechanical climbing devices. Try the spiderjack at the ARB SHOW if you get chance. Could change the way you climb and prolong you climbing career.
  11. The unicender has been around for a few years now and correct me if am wrong but the zigzag is along the same line design and they have't had any problems with the unicender . I can't give any opinion as I don't use one am just asking a question that someone with more experience using either of these could comment? Be interesting to know if in the early days of the unicender being put on the market did they have any teething problems?
  12. Ya you could hire a small 75mm TW it would do the job easy and you can wheel it were you want. But your next problem would be getting rid of the chippings unless you chipping on site? You looking at bout £80 a day hire. Hope that helps you a bit?
  13. Try N-Power or who ever is your utility supplier they sometimes have some around with slight damage. You know what these people are like for health and safety if even minor damage they change them. Worth a phone call
  14. Funny that. I was just thinking the same:thumbup1:
  15. Farther and son working together has got to be the best thing in life to happen for a dad. Close to seeing him get married I'd say:thumbup:
  16. That does,t surprise me they learned from there mistakes and listened to all the feed back they got. Just a shame there prices went up so much and made them bout 10% bigger then the old ones.
  17. The only or their trucks I would look at when and if I change would be Isuzu and vw. Both are very good. But it's all about the quality build and drive. Fuel consumption not that important. They are all roughly the same. But my 2001 rangers have been that good for me it would be difficult to change. But still Would't touch any rangers from 2008 up to 2013.
  18. Have got 2 rangers.one single cab with canopy and double cab for best. Both 13 yrs old. I would,t have brought a new one over the last 4 or 5 yrs but I think they have sort'd all the problems they had and are good as the old ones used to be:thumbup:
  19. Thanks for that,I have just checked their web-site looks pretty well set up. Me based in the midlands so if I go for it it will be stay over.
  20. Hi fella just to ask what are they charging for these courses and the assessment ?
  21. Ya you would need more then 10 k for a d-max. Am a ranger man my self but Would't have brought a new one over last 4or5 years. The early models were very good then build quality dipped but now very good again. For 10 k you could pick a good truck up.just what takes your fancy. Always thought the Isuzu looks and drives well.my next truck May be Isuzu but my ranger is really good.
  22. Ranger or Isuzu look no further.double cab if it's your only vehicle or have family. Single cab more room but not family friendly.
  23. Looks good and a new one on me. Think it's the way to go with ARB shows to combine it with or around a country show or game fair. To short notice for this wk'end even though I live 30 mins away. I'll put it in for next year. Thanks for the heads up fella.
  24. That should have read CHEEDER VALLEY.soz bout that. Am spelling like have had a few pints of it already. Cheers:
  25. Good idea Jon May need it if the whether is good.they sell Cheever valley in the pub around the corner from me.never try,d it so might have to before the ARB.nice one Jon fella:lol:
