  1. Nice one.
  2. As above - make sure you only sand with the grain. It's a finished surface, so any cross grain scratches put in by cross-sanding, would take a lot of wood to clear and re-finish.
  3. Post-It notes, a large box & Gorilla Glue.
  4. Thanks for the reply. The clear strips will save having to shine a strong light through the can to gauge the fuel/oil levels. Now do I really need something shiny & new..?

Ah. A cat in its element - in the land of slumber.
  7. I see there's a clearish contents gauge on the fuel. Has the oil got the same feature?

Family I know have always had cats. Three, a mother and two of her kittens were long lived. Beauty the mother made 20, Blacky mad 18 and Topsy made 26. They had another two that made high teens and the daughter had Lloyd, who lived to be 20. Sister's cat is currently 20. I dare say genes have something to do with it. But also being happy in a comfy home or being happy sat in the rain on your own fence has a good deal to do with it too.

    Transit Thefts

Just had a 'Neighbourhhoid Watch' email regarding the thefts of Transits and thefts from Transits. All happened without broken windows or broken locks. The police have stated their belief, that local thieves have a set of master keys and have been passing them from one gang to the next. So if you're in the S.Wales area and have a Transit. You could be next, so be ever watchful. Don't leave gear in the van and get a wheel-clamp. At least they'd have to drill the lock on that.

Many years ago one knocked at my mother's front door and was half way into trying to sell her some heather, which grows wild on all the local mountains. When she spied the black cat looking at her at eye level from the stairs. You've never seen someone want to be somewhere else so soon. It was at least 15yrs. till the next visit. This time my mother answered the door, holding her next black cat. Again, there was a sudden need to be somewhere else. I've just been to the door and was my mother's present black cat, (who normally sits by either the front or back door) anywhere to be seen.? No she wasn't. 11. Got a Granberg Precsion which does the business. But it only gets used on either long bars or if I've really mashed a chain. Such as when I've located hidden top wire or overgrown stone in old wood/tree. Other than either of these, I like hand filing. But then I'm not doing six saws at the end of a 10hr. day, six days a week. Having done metalwork in school & other various training after, I find filing easy. I know a person who didn't do any metalwork or engineering, sailed through a CS30 and still can't hand file a chain to a sharp state. Mind their chain is a Stihl PMM3; that's one small chain. Not saying I'd willingly let them loose on a chain I'd have to use though.
  12. He can just shave a bit off the entry, then get a closer shave with shorter haircut. Though he may want to draw the line, at just the original exhausts
  13. Yes. But you either need an extra long bar for snedding or be cutting only really big trees in the first place.
  14. The 181 has a different carb to boost the power, other than that they're the same. The difference in weight of the std. saws, is only .3kg or 10.6oz.

  16. I was wondering that too. But at £7 for a ladder, (read rails) it's a bargain. Just had a look around and I'm thinking that may be a misprint, as £70+ seems to be the norm.
  17. Where's your sense of adventure? Just grab a few cones and cordon off truck. Between Abergavenny and Tredegar, there must be a couple of thousand cones. Those alone must be costing a few pennies.

On having just witnessed the first test detonation of the A-Bomb, “We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty, and to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.” by John Oppenheimer "If it moves, salute it. If it stands still, paint it." “The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. 19. If all that goes through a chipper, it'll be a crying shame. There's some really nice trees, especially in and around the Clydach Gorge. They had a 360 with a shearing head cutting trees 4' to 8' off the ground. And on the Old Black Rock, they've hand-cut at 4' and higher. What's that about... are they constructing an assault course for Mogs or have they hired a bunch of 12ft tall hand-cutters with bad knees who can't bend?
  20. Not sleeping and looking at YT. Some fascinating stuff, like the dangers of cutting down a tree when it's on fire. The science & history of the frontal lobotomy. The doctor who invented and developed it, actually got a Nobel Prize for the work. And the inventiveness of mankind. Do you think chainsaws are dangerous, I mean really dangerous? Well if you do, take a look at [ame] [/ame] and now ask yourself the same question again.

  22. Got friends who require a simple post+rail fence. They with my help will do the work, partly so they can learn how run a similar boundary in future. I don't know exactly how much materials will be needed yet, as they've not finalised the area to be fenced. But will require posts and rails to be delivered to field in Raglan area. Any recommendations of a supplier/s to stated area?
  23. Interesting. But the works done now. No drama, access ladders long enough to safely get into roof and long enough hooked ladder, to safely complete repair. 15mins. inclusive of raising ladders, repair and lowering ladders.
  24. Some of the early Renault remotes could lock+unlock Fords; and Vauxhalls could unlock a Xantia and Fords. It was as if there were only a couple of companies making the gubbins and vehicle manufacturers having a job-lot. Mind, in the case of the Xantia, all you had to do was wait long enough. They had a habit of unlocking themselves, especially if parked on a slope. They also had a habit of unwinding their windows, if the car was locked, while the ignition was switched off. As for Transits, they've never been hard to get into. I sometimes think, Ford should supply padlocks & a hasp lock for every door, when still on the dealers' forecourt.
  25. I was going off what I could find on the net. But I stand corrected - if has 1.5mm stamped on the bar, then 1.5mm it is. Remove chain and count drive links is the most reliable way of finding out what you need. Thought I doubt it'll be 64.
