  1. Spikes are a massive aid mate. I had to strip and section a big limb last week. Climbed the tree as normal, selected the most suitable anchor point and just used spikes to work on the limb.
  2. They look comfortable. I take it they are primarily designed for competition climbing? I have husqvarna technical 24s now. Comfy straight away, spikes don't budge, loads of support. Can't ask for any more than that.
  3. 100% worth it! We use one all the time. It's a custom build, not a stein one. I'm amazed at how much easier it makes the job at times in relation to brash/logs. Easy to throw on and off the truck depending if it's required. Buy one or make one
  4. I had a dragon 5 metre lanyard that came with a climbing kit. Guy that I'm doing for changed my system. I now have a much shorter simple rope with isc rope grab. Best thing I ever did. Seriously, hardly notice it's there when it's tied up. Worth having a wire core but you will probably find you don't use it much. Makes everything easier when it's simple and tidy.
  5. Thanks for the response. I went for a 50 litre one. Made up with it
  6. Hi all, Cleared a shed out today to make a work area. In the market for an air compressor. Million and one to choose from! I'm thinking a 50 litre from machine mart. It's just going to be used for blowing saws out/tyre pressures etc. Nothing too strenuous. Any product/make you should stay away from? or are they all much of a muchness? Any input appreciated.
  7. Camelbak and siphon it straight it. Very efficient! Anything that doesn't leak. As above cheapo aluminium/fake sigg bottles cost next to nowt.
  8. You will soon get sick of that. I've done it loads of times. Even if you have a decent sized trailer you will be surprised at how little you can fit on them even when you have farted about with. Plus it doesn't look very professional. Hire a chipper in and add it on to the job. Thread on here a while back about using a tipper trailer and gravity fed chipper. Thought that was a good idea for a small outfit. Laws? you can put whatever you want on a trailer as long as it is safe and secure, last I heard!
  9. Not a selfie as such as I don't have a camera phone but a pine I took down today in Cheshire. Beautiful day, wanted to share.
  10. Your location says Derbyshire. I suppose it depends which part but Myerscough provide kit (or at least they used to) and has/deserves a good reputation. Tyro in Skipton is worth a look. Basic climbing kit will be around the 300 mark without gaffs.
  11. Couldn't agree more. I've started to use skyland for all my bits. Popped in the other Saturday to get a new strop made up. Good selection and friendly service. Refreshing to see they don't just stock stein. Loyal customer from now on. Great online service/delivery too

I personally think it is totally unnecessary to wear hi vis at all times. Smart polo shirt with company logo and hi vis when required (i.e site clearance, highways and rail) Tidying up a hedge at no7 for Mrs Jones, no point whatsoever!
  13. Big no no using barb wire where horses are present (I live on a livery yard) Post and rail or electric, otherwise the people who own the horses will end up making a claim.
  14. There is a guy on here goes by treedweller. He covers Preston methinks.

  19. Protector pros all day long. If I was to try anything else though it would be the husky ones.
  20. It's because arborist/tree surgeon isn't listed as a trade on cscs so you are supposed to go through bali and get a liss card but before you can do that I'm pretty sure you need to do rolo training which is quite expensive. Both do the same thing so it doesn't matter.
  21. Available this Friday. Will consider anything NW. Tickets 30 31 38 39 Please either PM or contact me on 07592 317 941 for more information

  24. Looking for work/experience, preferably in the north west but prepared to travel further afield for a weeks work. CS 30 31 and 38 saw and climbing kit if needed. Please get back to me either on here or pm if you can help
  25. Yeah bit far that Wolverhampton. Taking into account fuel and would probably need cheap digs. So not sure if it would be worthwhile. Happy to get cscs and on my way to gaining 38 and 39. I am interested just doubt it would be cost effective.
