  1. Bore da is as good as I get at the moment but the wife still knows more as she grew up in Newcastle Emlyn - does this make me eligible?
  2. I have just started on making walking sticks so I was thinking of having hazel mixed in also. Comparing prices today I can buy 2 acres in surrey for 20k or 8 acres in wales for 20k - a no brainier really but although we visit Wales twice a year now moving is still way off on the horizon!
  3. This may be out of date now but I'm also looking into buying woodland. How often do you need to visit it etc? Im looking at South East which is no problems to visit (my garden at home will suffer as I will be in the woods all the time) but we are planning on a move to Wales in the future so if I bought there I would have trouble getting there regularly for the first few years.
  4. If he asked for permission to remove wood and it was granted then it would not be theft I presume? The guy is asking for advice on how to go about this not how to put on a ski mask and become a wood ninja!
  5. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oTs6Oz-OW8]Carlsberg - Wrong Number - UK Advert - YouTube[/ame] - Croydon Woodlands advisor
  6. I recently collected some wood for walking sticks and all I had done was contact the relevant local authority department beforehand. They were surprisingly helpful and seemed happy that anyone had actually taken the time to ask first so I took the email permission with me. It reminded me of the old Carlsberg advert where the phone in the complaints office rings (anyone old enough to remember that??)
  7. Freecycle is the best bet - she can get the fence panels from there also.
  8. Please God tell your friends to pay the going rate to have trees felled AND taken away! Just spent a whole Sunday shredding at my mates house on a domestic use shredder and I'm knackered and only a 3rd of the way through!
  9. 15 years selling property gave me that opinion
  10. The fact is that the removal of the tree has had no adverse effect to the value of the house so you will have issues attempting to claim from their deposit. You would not of planned to remove it and transport it to your own property so the law will say there has been no loss to you. I agree that it looks nice with the tree but a surveyor would of picked it up as a possible issue when the mortgage company wanted it valued.
  11. Sounding like less of an ear bending session! Where is it? Once I have 'played' with this I will move on up to the oak!
  12. Soooo - that chat went well. Something along the lines of - 250? Do you remember we have a baby due in October? What happens when you get it wrong as its your first try? Etc etc! I may need to downsize or start a charm offensive!
  13. That looks brilliant and it comes with a dinner set already! How much would that set me back?
  14. Hi, Just need some rough pricing for a piece of timber for a 'plan' I have to make a table for my garden (at this point my wife will sigh and roll her eyes) Needs to be big enough for 6 people. I just need the table top part and I want it to look like it was once on a tree so no need for perfection as I am a complete amateur and its just something to get me started! Any help is much appreciated and if anyone is in the Surrey area that has some then let me know.
  15. An old boat - there was no side access to the garden and it was not a small boat either.
  16. This looks great! I would of said stunning but jealousy holds me back!!
  17. It's a community garden with a special needs sensory garden so some nice tactile stuff and some natural big benches and stuff (very specific aren't I??)
