  9. Not sure about forestry, but climbing or working on the ground suck when it's wet..... Nothing worse that 45metres of soggy rope and sodden chainsaw trousers I have a very light weight gortex over jacket, keeps me bone dry! 18. Been trying to use footlocking more, I use a second line to foot lock on drt, and clip my climbing line into my harness. Was using a loop length of my chin to foot, but found this way too long? And even when I slid it up as far as I could reach was nowhere near enough!? Also boots made a massive difference, my old stein boots were pants! Airstreams are a million times better!? One question.... Anyone who footlocking on drt, do you tie a knot I. The bottom of your rope? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  21. for I certainly would never think I could develop the level of understanding I want from a single book/source. It has taken me 3 years to build up what I would describe as a "basic" horticultural knowledge base. Ok so one book ordered, Shigo's modern arboriculture. As for book no.2..... It's a tricky one, because as people have said everything offers something different. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Un imaginable. So sorry to hear it. R.I.P Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. That's what I thought! And as for "spinning round" in trees don't tend to do much spinning! It's just as naturally as a part of moving round the canopy, my lines get twisted, which adds friction too my system so I'm just defeating the object of using cambium saver etc Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Ok so a weigh off between Trees: their natural history and a new tree biology which wins!? I'm basically trying to expand my knowledge of trees beyond just identifying and naming them. Pruning times, why we prune when we prune. Benefits of the methods we use etc. it's all very well me having my Certs..... But doesn't mean I know a thing about trees! And as sad as it sounds, as much as I love climbing and the physical aspect of the job, I also have a genuine interest in trees and ecology. I would love to go back 6-7 years and study at uni etc, rather than just going straight into work. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Exactly what I was looking for The edition of Modern arb they have is 1991? And I have seen a 2008 edition? Which one is preferred?? Why on earth did you introduce me to this website!! I want every book they sell Although some Arb books are extremely pricey! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
