    working

keep looking for work would be my advice, but you have limited tickets/experience. i think you would benefit more from having cs 38 as a minimum as you are then able to officiaclly ground for another climber as you will have aerial rescue. also try and find an employee who will pay to put you through your tickets! good luck mate!
  4. hi i am currently looking for long term full time permanent work. I live in birmingham and i am looking for something local. i have been climbing for 6 years on utility power line clearance i am authorised with western power, west coast, ground control, and i have cut on most contracts such as scottish power and carrillion and mc alpine when they was in operation. i also have a good knowledge and experience of street tree maintenance and have carried out many of the tasks involved such as lifts, thins, pollards, crown thin, crown reduction, deadwood, section fell ect. working for birmingham city council/walsall council. i am also a team leader and understand all relevant doccuments such as the risk assesment gs55/2 bs 3998, distribution safety rules ect. and i am responsible for site safety and supervision of other such as new starters or general supervision of other staff. i am fully aware of how sites need to be left in a good tidy state worthy of passing an audit. i have nptcs 30, 31, 38, 39, 40 Ua 1. ua 2.1 ua 2.2 ua 2.3. i hold a b+e licence and i have a valid first aid cirtificate and a cscs card. please pm me for any more details. thanks
  5. As your only a young man, you should look to go to college and get into the industry that way. Unless you pay to do all your nptc quals which is about 2000 pounds all in. I live in Birmingham and have been doing tree work for around 10 years. If I was you I would look to get int utility power line work as there is a real shortage of experienced ua lifted climbers. Good luck Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. He is obviously not very bright! What a child! My bag is bigger than yours! Ha ha some people. Must have plenty of time on his hands to be threatening folk! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Many moons ago guy would climb with no ropes at all. And cut with a bow saw? Not my idea of safety and you wouldn't catch me doing that, lets just hope these so called best climbers don't slip! Even the most experienced climbers can have accidents! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. I use a new 201t daily it has an upgraded carb and runs much better then when first on the market. A quality saw I say. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. I think the truth is companies don't bother with them as they don't want the paper work or hassle. I bet most have to got one but fell more than specified. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. you should have some paper work for it, my harness is less then 6 months old and gets by on site audits due to the receipt. good luck
  11. wankers, and they will sell that saw for peanuts. sorry man!!
  12. friction hitch all the way, i climb on a blakes and have done for 5 years, previously on a prussick must say im still impressed with how simple and easy a prussick is to use, never mind all the shiney pulleys and gadgets, its all about the work position and good rope management, and planning your route around the crown.
  13. welcome, one piece of advice, do it your way and dont let others bully you into making any decisions that your not happy with, you will hear many a man balling and yelling to do it his way, were all full of good ideas stood watching! good luck,
  14. pine! ha ha! good luck
  15. ok im in work tomo and il ask but im sure that to work on utility powerlines live you need cs 30 31 38 39 40, utility arb 1 2.1 2.2 2.3. and authorisation from the dno. and for rail ways you need you personal track safety, a drugs + alcohol medical and your chainsaw units. all the safety info for rail is in the pts itself. anmd you have to have a sponsor to work on rail, ie, the company you work for will sponsor you and get you the correct documentation to work on rail. and for highways just your basic chainsaw units. hope this can be of help. good luck
  16. yes i would pollard that right down to make it grow back with a very small crown, and its ash so it can take it, the last time it was done looks a bit odd shaped but im sure you will balance it out and give it a better even shape. good luck
  17. syd rail and utility jobs are two different things mate, as far as i know you only need a pts to cut on rail, i dont htink you need any other utility qualifications. i only work on utilities, but i could find out or somone on here should know
  18. max sorry, they have advertised a few times for staff but i beleive they are looking for guys with cs 30 31 38 39 40, ua 1 2.1 2.2 2.3 first aid and driving licence. so basically all your tickets. but you should speak to the boss ed marvin, at gc tree services.
  19. I use . a comet butterfly. I prefer leg loops to a seat. but you are better off to get a new harness that you know how it feels. nothing worse than a shiney uncomfortable harness you don't trust.
  20. eco all the way.
  21.

  22. it does look a little rotten in there or something is not right for it to be discoloured. as David has said it could be culminating factors such as wind, sail effect, pruning before hand?? but as its oak they do drop limbs but usually in hot weather?? good luck.
  23. loosen the leg loops a little and slide them down a bit. try not to have the leg loops to tight and to high. i can be a comfy fit when on right.
  24. gc tree services have vacancies at the moment but require guys to have qualifications and experience, they have work in the east for ground control.
  25. where can we order! ha ha
