I would trying swapping parts over between the two machines to hopefully work out which component is faulty. With any luck you should get at least one running machine out of the two. I've had to replace throttle switches, main control boards and keypads but no motors yet. Not on the model you have, its mainly been long reach hedge cutters and strimmers.

£45.95 Inc the vat for the bar, postage should be £4.95 but it may be more of your in northern Scotland, Ireland etc. If you click on the link I posted add the 16" bar to your basket, go into your basket and then input your post code and it will show you the postage cost. If it is £4.95 postage it will drop to free if you spend £100 or over.

Well then, you didnt check out our web site advertised to the right----> 🙂 We do have one of those elusive 18" bars in stock here Stihl Guidebar Light 04 - 1.3mm / 0.325 SKYLANDEQUIPMENT.COM The Light 04 is the first STIHL guide bar model to feature this new name and innovative design. The new Light 04 features a... We do only have the one and you are right, no more until Feb at the earliest. I have put it out of stock for you and I can hold it until the weekend if you still want it. It's best to give us a call on 0151 345 9971 or drop us an email [email protected] as you wont be able to purchase it direct from the site (due to me putting it out of stock) or you can PM me and I will restock it for you. As supplies have been so poor over the last 3 years we have live stock levels on our web site, we do get caught out now and again but very, very rarely, mainly due to inputting the wrong stock level or in some unfortunate cases due to light fingered shoppers! What we definitely don't do is deliberately advertise products as in stock when they aren't. That wasn't usually a problem in the past as most of us dealers could get stock next day from the suppliers but that has well and truly gone out of the window as I'm sure most people who order online will have found out. From what I hear it wont get much better for at least the next 6 months or so. For the end user Its always worth having a bit of extra stock of the main consumables, chains, files, oils etc, they are always required and its no good having to mess about trying to get hold of a chain or a pack of files for the next job. Another couple of items that have been really bad to get hold of are batteries and chargers, I know most people don't want a second charger but these have been hard to get hold of over the last year or so and some batteries are still out of stock for at least 3-4 months. They are brand specific so there is no chance of getting something that 'will do the job for now' If you don't need the bar could you also please let me know. Mark

It's always worth checking the terminals on the saw and the battery. They can be damaged/dirty from bits of chip, it's a simple fix that I have came across a coupe of times.

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare. I would remove the starter cover and lock the flywheel, holding it will probably do. Then try twisting the drum backwards and forwards while pulling on it. I've had the odd seized bearings over the years but they come off in the end with a bit of brute force. The worm wheel may have melted which could be causing the problem.

A week without charge shouldn't really be an issue but it is always worth charging batteries at the end of the day. How did you get on?
-
The voltage in the battery is probably too low for it to charge. Has it been left for awhile with a low charge? How old is the battery?

Poor starting with Husqvarna 550 xp (mk1) Puzzled.
Mark_Skyland replied to David Dobedoe's topic in Chainsaws
We get a lot of non runner huskys in that are just flooded. Usually user error but it can be a mechanical issue. If it starts on full throttle and runs rough for a bit with some smoke then clears then it's usually just flooded. You need to find out if its a poor operating procedure or a sticky carb, leaking tank vent. Huskys are way more prone to flooding than stihls as a stihl will usually run on choke for long enough for the operator to throttle it up and switch the choke off. -
Does it do the flashing exclamation mark when switched on or only when you insert a battery? If it's the later have a quick check to make sure the contacts in the charger look good and that they aren't scorched or have say a bit of wood chip stuck in them. I only say this as I have seen a few machines not run due to the above but I have only had one charger fail. If it all looks good then definitely speak to Husqvarna as something like a battery charger should be good for a very long time.
-
It should be a 1.1mm on the 171. If it's stihl, Husqvarna, echo or Makita at least you can get spares and you should have a dealer within a reasonable distance from you. Don't bother going down the screwfix, B and q or Chinese ebay route as it just adds to the plastic mountain of waste when something simple like an oil pump worm wheel fails, unless your willing to source the parts and repair it yourself.
-
Usually when that happens it's a battery issue ime. I think it's to do with the battery getting too hot but I can't be certain of that. When chargers fail they usually just do nothing. We have a few qc500 chargers but I would try to test your battery first.

This isn't something I've had to do so there is no doubt a correct procedure probably requiring a special tool. But, if you're stuck and need it sorting quick you could get an old chain, preferably a blunt one and wrap it around the sprocket. Hopefully you can get it to jam up and undue the torx, a decent pair of leather gloves to protect your hands from the chain would be handy. I've done this in the past on other brands of machine.

Chain Sharpening Issue with Husqvarna T540 MkII TopHandle
Mark_Skyland replied to Jamie Jones's topic in Chainsaws
Tbh I haven't heard of any complaints with the new style chain but I will be following this thread as is always good to hear feedback from new products. Personally I haven't used the saw with the new chain let alone sharpened one. I presume that you are using a 4mm file and I have also heard customers say that the stihl 2 in 1 doesn't work well with some of the oregon or husky chains. I hope you find some answers, if not as stubby says you can convert it back to the 3/8 lo pro. It's not ideal as it's something that you shouldn't have to do to get the machine cutting correctly -
No problem. Sounds like Spud has a secret fix I've not worked it out yet but I did swap a new carb out on one last week and it made a world of difference. The customer has gone from hating the saw to loving it now, pity the carbs cost a quarter of the price of a new machine though! I couldn't find anything up with the old carb and I tried a few different tricks but to no avail. The issues was it would run and tick over all day long when kept horizontal but as soon as you hung it from a strop it would splutter and die. If you held it from a strop but also held onto the handle at the same time it was fine. So basically the carb didn't like dancing about, too much fuel is what I thought but I couldn't sort it. Other thing to check is that the fuel pipe isn't split right at the fuel filter, I've seen that a times.

Interesting thread. It will be good to see how people are adapting to the battery move. As the OP says great on domestics jobs, "Can you just plug this in while you get the kettle on please" great excuse and I couldnt count the amount of times in the past that customers have asked us if we need an extension lead for our chainsaws. Although with the increase in electricity costs I doubt many will hear that phrase anymore!

Ok that's a lot of information to digest but I will do my best to clear up some issues and concerns. I knew nothing about the potential problem with delivery until the order was placed which requires a payment to be made so I cant really do anything about the situation unless I know before hand. Missing parcels are an absolute nightmare, the customer is upset which is entirely understandable and it sucks up a lot of time with emails back and forth, phone calls back and forth and numerous amounts of time sometimes hours wasted on the phone on hold with couriers. The end result is usually us being well out of pocket which is why we try to avoid or should I say reduce the chances of it happening in the first place. We would have used royal mail in this instance and we would have requested a signature on delivery but there is no way I could guarantee that the courier would only give the parcel to the stores department as I have no clue on the layout and operations of the hospital. For all I know the courier would just hand it into reception. TBH since it was a business address if the parcel had gone missing as in someone took the parcel but didn't pass it on to your department but it had been signed for you probably wouldn't have received any kind of refund from PayPal which would not have been a good scenario for either of us. I thought that it would be best to send it to a residential or an alternative address as per your previous order since it seems that you have had a lot of issues with items being misplaced and stolen at the Hospital address, I understand that it might not be ideal but it would have been a better option IMO given the circumstances. Once a parcel has left our premises we have basically zero control of what happens after that. Ive tried to stop parcels that have been purchased with a stolen card, shipped out to an old address where the customer forgot to update their information or just plainly provided an undeliverable location (bad postcode etc) usually with poor results that end up costing us. We use reputable couriers but every courier has issues at some stage, you should see the grief that we have had over the last two years with missing parcels, parcels left outside our shop on Sundays parcels delivered to other dealers and other endless issues all sent by big manufactures using all big name couriers. As I said earlier its a nightmare we can all do without. I hope that I have covered the main issues and I hope that I haven't caused an offence as the last thing I or anyone wants is to loose business. I have processed a refund for your order as requested but the way that ebay integrates to our web store isn't great (ebay issues not our web store) so if there are any issues please don't hesitate to contact me, or start a new thread as it is great advertising. JK BTW I hope that you manage to source your item without any issues. Thanks to all for your kind words, we all cock up from time to time but we do try our best to resolve any issues.

husqvarna 350 spewing fuel out of intake when runniNG
Mark_Skyland replied to cameroncrofter's topic in Chainsaws
I've just downloaded and watched your recent video. Probably not the ignition like I suggested. Worth a check over but it does sound like a fueling issue as already mentioned by others. -
Do you know anyone with a good running 2511 that you could try a carb swap on? It only takes a few minutes as it must be the easiest saw to change out the carb.

If it's a genuine New carb with factory settings then I would check that the ht lead/coil isnt shorting out somewhere. I've seen it on other machines. Ok at low revs but shorts out when you increase them, it acts like a rev limiter. -
Are the plastics painted black or are they black moulds? Either way that saw looks really nice. I think husky and stihl might sell a few parts if they did some limited edition carbon fibre covers. I know it wouldn't be a big market but it would be a nice thing to do for their dedicated customers.

Certainly not as interesting as the tools mentioned above but a set of angled long nose pliers is a game changer in my workshop. Oh, and reading glasses help a lot these days!

Thanks Steven The 560 cover is the same one as the 550. We've sold a few outer dogs because as you at you can drill it out quiet easily. I was hoping the 562 would do the job, especially as its a bit cheaper but unfortunately it won't.
-
No it doesn't.

I know that there arent any holes on the 550/560 cover but I I'm wondering if the 562 cover will fit. I will have to check it out
