Well we have Timpsons here and they fixed it for £7 including glueing back a bit of the toe wrap around that was falling off. Very happy happy with that

Agree that if you dont need a long bar dont have one but a longer chain has more teeth to sharpen but they blunt more slowly as there are more teeth to do the work.

No but they have ways of making it difficult not too. Had my Isuzu serviced locally making sure they used the recommended oil and filters from Isuzu. Then found out my anti perforation warranty was now invalid as I had not had it inspected by main dealer each year. An extra few services makes sense if you are working you vehicle to the max around here

As others have said bite the bullet and get a 462. I cut up a lot of wood in that sort of size and have a 60cc saw with a 20" bar but the my old 460 with 25" bar is my goto for stuff in that range.

So whats the problem with nicking the tie straps? Clearly lots of you avoid it but it seems like a hassle

I just go with the regular size all the way and mark the tie straps. If the chain doesn't snap I cant see the problem and never had one snap to date.

Do you use it? I bought the Clark Forest one but rarely bother using it. Only time mine comes out is when I have to log something up over concrete or tarmac

Try not charging peanuts. With the cost of roundwood rocketing I would have thought you tree boys are quids in with free (admittedly difficult) wood when firewood firms are paying an arm and a leg for the raw material. If the price of logs has not gone up much yet it wont be long.

Looks fine. It's doing it's job of shielding the sidewall of the stove and upping the heat of the firebox. -
Yes never been there but generally the wettest and most humid parts are west facing hills in the west. Alway exceptions though. It can be so localised. We are on the West of Dartmoor but you only need to go a half hour from here to the NE of the moors and it can be a different world. Everything is green and lush here but went to Crediton last week and it was like a dessert by comparison. Whatever the new rules they need to give us all a sporting chance of complying with the rules. 25% burns fine and can be achieved by all whatever the weather.

Aberdeen is on the east coast when most of our weather comes from the west and south west. Places to the lea of high ground are normally far drier with lower humidity.

Just because you can do something doesn't make it a good idea. As said someone with too much money. Maybe its a squirrel deterrent. When one is detected it ups it's speed to a few hundred RPM and off they fly! Like this

This is often said but have there ever been studies on the matter? All woods give off tars which condense in the flue if run at low temps.

I have toyed with making a kiln along the lines suggested but when you look at what a commercial dehumidifier can remove it does not look so good. Say you have 10 cube of logs in the kiln thats around 5 tonnes of wood. previous tests have show you lose approximately 150 litres of water from a cube in the process of drying. Times that by your 10 cube you have 1500litres to remove. A quick search shows a commercial dehumidifier at 35C and 100% RH removing 38 litres per 24 hours and thats at it's optimum. So pretty much 40 days with the dehumidifier working at it's paper spec best which I am sure would not be achieved in the real world. Thanks Matt. Looking on Amazon I see people have successfully stuck soles back on to their shoes. Might ask in Timpsons in Tav and if a no from them give it a go.

Beating me. Did 24cube last week and 5 today. Our prices go up at the end of the month so that might quieten things down or not. Just looking at the last couple of months and 4/5ths of our logs have been in 2m3 loads so if the new rules do come in 2.01 m3 loads it will be and not losing much custom.
