  1. I wouldn't fancy starting it once the bar and chain are on!
  2. As per title spotted this tonight. Thought it would be advertised as spares or repair but clearly not. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=310703307301&globalID=EBAY-GB
  3. Found this tonight on eBay. http://bit.ly/19RD8GN Made me chuckle.
  4. I presume your thinking the same as me Jonny that's quite cheap, getting bloody expensive up here at the minute and no body's got any when you ring!
  5. Thanks for explaining that, will have another play after checking the plug and see how I get on. Must admit I didn't adjust it straight after doing the mod and definitely seemed more lively and pokey than after fattening up the mix but got worried about scorching the p&c. Thanks again
  6. Spud, You mention doing the muffler mod, did you richer up the mix after? Did a mod on my 660 then brought max revs back to 12.5k with tt20k as per book by fattening up the mix. Just wondered if this sounded right or do you think I could lean it back a tad, seems a bit smokey sometimes. Cheers Chris
  7. It looks like they are going quite mouldy green colour in the picture also, ours do that if we stack in the shed so try to avoid doing it. Does the mould stop once seasoned or do you just sell it as is and don't worry about it? Cheers Chris
  8. Would have to agree with the flap disc idea, surprising how quickly they remove material also when basically only sand paper, will also leave a lovely smooth edge. On another note I made a splitting wedge for a splitter out of mild steel and it was pretty useless burred the sharp edge over pretty quick and then bent totally in a matter of days. Must admit I didn't try hardening it in anyway. Made next one out if bucket wear edge, took a bit of getting a sharp edge on and slightly thick but haven't bent that yet ha. Another thing to try would be plough metal as seriously hard, like the land slide part, nice and flat and not too thick either about 10mm usually, think the wear edge was 30mm. Cheers Chris
  9. I think I prefer this method . Watch Insane Chainsaw Hedge Trimming Stunt Video | Break.com
  10. Check out the feed back sold a hell of a lot of kit just recently. Possibly buy them hire it out for a bit then sell on? 261 advertised as 4 hours use I'd say not as its had a new oil filler cap, the made in Germany bar code stickers off the front and the pull cord sides got slight discolouring which they do after a bit! Not sure where its all coming from some kit going through though!
  11. Might be of use to someone, will probably go for a fortune though. Copart Thanks
  12. The same saw was advertised on gumtree as per here Stihl ms 880 in Surrey | Lawnmowers & Trimmers for Sale | Gumtree.com I presume heras wanting slightly more for it!
  13. Does anyone have a used 36'' bar for a MS880 by any chance? Currently running a 36'' bar on a 660 with a alaskan mill and planned on swapping it straight over onto the 880 but mountings are different just thought I'd ask before buying a new one as they are abit expensive for my hobby use. Cheers Chris
  14. How much you looking for it? Cheers Chris
  15. Think we are all writing at the same time here.
  16. You can actually see the friction plates in the picture, it's the 2 thinner discs that are sandwiched between the whole pack, you can probably see these on yours if you look. If the clutch is slipping when in normal use I would try and tighten the bolts until it stops, the plates as with a clutch on a car wear and need tightening if they've had some serious slip, but as with a car the pedal gets higher these have to be manually adjusted. Don't get over giddy though just maybe a couple of flats on each at a time until it stops slipping when buried into normal ground. Too tight and you'll have no slip clutch at all and something else will give, usually gearbox. We borrowed a howard rotavotor on the farm once, back of a 7840 ford a blade came out wedge in the hood and stopped tractor dead from 2000 revs surprisingly everything worked after but made sure we slackened bolts off the get it to slip the readjusted. Hope this helps Chris
  17. Was just about to say hopefully they'll cut there leg off with saw, but as daft as it sounds they'd probably be able to claim from you for not having it secure and them being able to get in as daft as this country's got! Not good at all though!
  18. I've had 2 first one wouldn't seem to run right, would tick over fine and rev flat out fine but terrible anywhere in between. Second one though runs spot on, for such a small saw has loads of power and cuts very well. I knocked this one down to 3/8p chain instead of .325 running a 16 bar can't fault it to be honest. Only on semi chisel chain would like to try it on a full chisel 3/8p chain which is what I think new ones are on now looking in 2013 catalogue other day, should imagine it being even better. Good saw in my opinion. You can calibrate them if you get one and its not doing great just leave it on choke position for around 30 seconds and sorts itself out usually start and run a lot better after been done from factory setup. Chris
  19. Jon, It's the bloody pure cheek of it that gets me, I wouldn't dare walk into to someone's yard and start doing stuff like that seriously takes the p***!!!! You want some nice stringy oak for him to get his axe stuck in!
  20. Jon, You still want to buy small cord but by a gun at same time and shoot the thieving gits! Chris
  21. Went to look at it a couple of weeks ago, cut a length in half split it down the middle and metered it at 30% wet enough to be honest would need a week or 2 in the barn once split to blow off! But I know what you mean it's just not seasoning well this year with all rain at all.
  22. Jonny, Probably around 8ft ish lengths good processor stuff from about 6 inch upto about 15 inch ish.
  23. Yeah that's more the point I was making Nick, it's more about keeping customers than making a great deal of money from it. Unfortunately Jon, Nicks abit far away haulage usually kills it for us.
  24. That's the problem Jon you just don't know what the weathers going to do if it comes warm we'll not use it if it stays cold we'll probably use all of it. Not an easy decision! But must agree it is a lot more than I'd like to pay.
  25. As per title, we have run out of seasoned wood and as such are trying to find some. Been offered some 12 month seasoned beech and sycamore unfortunately around 75% beech and 25% sycamore would have preferred it the other way round for less weight and more timber. Been offered it at £70/t ex yard with roughly £10 - £15t haulage so around £85/t delivered. I think it's seriously expensive but need to ideally keep existing customers happy. What's everyone's thoughts?
