  1. Have you been able to get a full refund? If so who did you buy it from?
  2. No one will lose their job. It is a brand new product that was only released in Feb. There is always problems with a new product no matter how much R&D is done.
  3. It shows that the ZZ is to stop being used and this is because of cross loading.
  4. I've only ever seen spiderjack/lockjack on ddrt. Haven't heard of any problems with them.
  5. I know what you mean. At first I thought it was the best bit of kit in a long time. Then there was the 'Hairy rope' problem and now one has broken. We'll just have to see what happens.
  6. I've retired it now. Just wanted one last climb on it. What do you guys reckon will happen??? total product recall or replacement with a revamped version. The tried and tested spiderjack is gaining my attention if its a recall.
  7. I went for a climb this morning on the ZZ, wasn't doing any work I was just haveing a climb. The krab didn't turn at all and the ZZ felt fine. I think as long as you make sure that it stays in place then you're fine but just still be carefull. Still worked fine on limb walks and self tending/footlocking.
  8. Before I had a climb the other day I looked to see how/if my Petzl krab could cross load. Every time i pulled down on it, it self pivoted so for that reason, i'm still climbing on it. Just a question aside from the failure (sort of), do you think we'd still be able to use them in comps or would they not be allowed for safety precautions? Cheers, Jake.
  9. JUST SEEN THIS!!!!!! http://www.petzl.com/files/fckfiles/image/news/pro/2013/zigzag/ALERT-ZIGZAG-EN.pdf?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=petzl-page&utm_campaign=zigzag%20alert&utm_content=en Personally I feel comfortable using it still just make sure krabs are aligned properly but i think it may have to sit in the bag for a bit. What do you guys think?
  10. Just got this through. http://www.petzl.com/files/fckfiles/image/news/pro/2013/zigzag/ALERT-ZIGZAG-EN.pdf?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=petzl-page&utm_campaign=zigzag%20alert&utm_content=en
  11. Nissan navara with a snug top on it, chuck a trailer on the back and you're sorted! (Just watch out for the engines on older models). I've always liked the landy's but the only down side is how little you get for your money. If you get a Navara D40 double cab then you have all the seats that you need and plenty of room in the back. Plus a whole trailer. It's a win win IMO! Jake
  12. Let's hope this weather stays!!! (bar the wind). Can't wait for the show!!!!!!!!
  13. I think that a ZZ Rec climb is in order. This way we can see other peoples rope damage and get people's opinions on the pros and cons of the ZZ. Also a good time to put names to faces. And if people find different techniques better than the ZZ we can also try them. Peoples thoughts???? Jake.
  14. My dad's got the D40 2012 model. THAT THING CAN GO WHEN YOU WANT IT TO!!! Jake
  15. Okay great. That's what I have put in there. Cheers guys! Jake
  16. Used mine on Sat for a large Willow thinning and it worked a charm! Started self tending about 20ft so was able to climb hand over hand, what a difference that made!! I had a look at the gold attachment point and there isn't any sign of wear on mine. Best bit of kit ever IMO.
  17. Is this the right type of screw for the job? 18mm M5? Jake
  18. Any spares for my 020Av i get from Mister Solutions. All the spares you need at a great price.
  19. Hi everyone! I was working today with my 020 AV top handle chainsaw and then at the end of the job I did a once over on my saw. The thing that I have created this topic about is that when I looked over my saw I realised that a screw was missing. (See photos). I have placed a 18mm M5 screw in it's place, is this the right screw?? Another thing is what is this screw for??. There is another screw like it (see last photo) on the top aswell so I'm guessing they're linked? I'd be greatful for any help you can give. Cheers, Jake
  20. Looks like they do make them in Type C...and at just under £100!!! Oregon Yukon chainsaw trousers Type C | F R Jones and Son
  21. I have seen a Nissan Navara converted to have a tipper back to it. Don't know what the cost of that would be though. I do however know for a fact that they are excellent trucks with a heck of a lot of power.
  22. Go for a nice long relaxing climb, do a couple of limb walks then sit out on a limb for a while. Nice and comfy.
  23. I'm using a Carlton (subsidiary of Oregon) Picco Micro pitch 3/8" LP.
  24. I've heard that Blue Tongue work a charm on the ZZ. I know that Imori also absorbs water like a sponge so it is horrible to climb on in the wet. I am using Yale XTC Plus 13mm at the minute but when it is due for retirement I shall be moving to the thinner Blue Tongue. Hope this helps. Jake.
  25. I picked up a Stihl 020AV at an aution recently. It had been converted into an Auger for fencing but with a good clean and a few quid for new parts, I've now got a working top handle saw! All the parts were a doddle to find even though it is such an old saw!
