  1. I had a Husky 390xp up the tree yesterday. There was no way i was going to climb up with it! Just get it warmed up on the floor and then sent up! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. I have just got a pair of SIP Progress Type C's. The Green ones. First day the phone pocket got caught and ripped slightly bu the sewed back on easily. Other than that the material feels muh stronger than the Hi Flex and I find them a lot more comfortable too. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Right well i'm a big lad!! 6ft 5" and 15stone! I use a hitch climber and love it! I have tried many knots and I like a fair few! If you get 3m of hitch cord, cut it in half and then tie a single fishermans in each end then I find this is the perfect length for a Howard Hitch, the wear is very localised like the Knut so watch that but it is a very nice knot! Used to climb on a Schwabish with beeline eye to eye and silverstreak eye to eye and found that the knot twisted my rope a hell if a lot and also made it milk! Tried the Distel and it is an incredible knot. There is a fair bit of sit back though if you use an eye to eye cord but if yoyu are cutting a length of cord for it then you can obviously change the length. I am on a Knut at the minute with beeline and i have a knut on my side strop too with a pinto pulley. I have noticed that when accending long distances with a pantin this keeps the knot free from the rope and i think the cord has worn a bit as it isn't grabbing so watch the wear. I have found it tricky to tie with the eye to eye cords but thos may also be because I am using 13mm rope. Hope this helps! In short the Howard Hitch, Distel and Knut are the best knots IMO. The VT is good if you can get it set right. Being a big lad I find that hard to get it to grab enough to hold me and then not too tight that I can't decend. 7. Never tried the Geckos but I have the Stein X2's and love them! There are a lot of mixed opinions about them but with spikes it is all personal preference. For me the Steins are brilliant. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. Hi all. I am looking to get some new Type C trousers and I have been looking at the Husky Technicals. What I am wondering is how does the fit of these trousers compare to the Stihl Hi-Flex? The waist and the leg length is not what I am worried about but are they tighter on the thigh than the Hi-Flex or looser? As at the minute I wear XL in the Hi-Flex but this makes them too large on the waist. Thanks, Jake H! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. A nice round 500kg me thinks Jake
  10. Thought they would have done. Jake.
  11. Haha we shall see about the Ireland/Scotland game! But I am also for Wales to win the Six Nations...again! Who won the England/France game in the end? I assume it was France after their great start that they had. The Wales vs France game could be a nail biter!! Jake.
  12. Tomorrow (Sunday) should be a good match between Scotland and Ireland!!! Who is everone wanting to win this year?
  13. I can!! 6ft 5 and 15 stone. Although i am only 17!!!!!
  14. If i'm right liquid glass is two part acrylic, like an epoxy resin, you mix it up and the spread it over the area, air bubbles will form and to remove this you use a heat lamp which will soften the resin and then you use a float to smooth it out. Best way to get an idea of it is look on youtube. Jake
  15. If you are getting/using a hitch climber then i'd advise getting a pantin! Makes the long ascents much faster and more efficient because you're pulling the slack through with your leg and also pushing yourself up the rope with your leg. Jake
  16. Yes i have the prussik slack at all times! If i fall then the fig. 8 slows me down to also reduce the shock on the prussik. And then if i want to decend fully then i hold the prussik down and control the decent with the fig. 8. Works well for me. Jake
  17. I have my main line chokered off on the stem with a running bowline, i then make a prussik knot with an eye to eye loop and clip that onto my bridge, directly below that I have a figure of eight which is also on my bridge. It just adds that extra friction to stop the knot binding up too much! Jake
  18. I have seen this before. In another video it says that they went up there just to change the light bulb in the black box!!!!! Just to change a light bulb!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy! Jake
  19. I think i'll get one of the resin ones tho, they look nicer IMO Jake
  20. I will be ordering an 18" Light type pro (the resin insert one) for me husky 357 shortly after xmas!! Jake
  21. Stubby what size bar are you running on your 560XP??
  22. Cheers for all the replies guys! I think i'll be placing an order for an 18" light type pro bar in the next few weeks!!! Jake H
