  1. I was looking on Honey's website and that was the price difference on there. I forgot about the fact that you can't buy Stihl stuff online anymore. God I dread to think the price my local dealer will have, being as it's a BTS shop.
  2. Correct me if I am wrong but surely with it used as a hitch climber pulley you lose the effect of the swivel?
  3. Looks pretty good tbh. The price looks to be a tad steep IMO, I mean I know the 201 has it's problems but can the Husky make up for it with the £80 price difference??
  4. Take your largest caliber which you re going to shoot and set up a row of breeze/cinder blocks, they break nicely. Or get like a Steel sheet and shoot like a .22 or a .17hmr and show the dent to a camera linked up to a screen.
  5. I'll have a look to see if I can put a Wanted post up. Jake
  6. Hi All. I was just wondering if anyone is selling a Husky 357xp?? Cheers, Jake
  7. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference being a Tachyon is 11.5mm and BT is 11.7mm so it is only 0.2mm difference.....
  8. Hi all I have been looking at these two ropes for a while and I was wondering what you all thought of them. Pros and Cons for each just so I can see what they are good for and what they don't work well with. Cheers, Jake.
  9. I liked the look of the floating prussik too
  10. Hi Ian, If you have some rec climbs going on I'd really like to tag along if possible, if you could let me know when they are happening it'd beuch apreciated. Jake
  11. I believe that it is to stop the cam wabbling around when not being used but it the friction to keep it in the same place when under weight is caused by having your weight on the cut away strop. I'm not sure how not having one would affect LOLER... Jake
  12. Hi Andy. It is for course work. I have found out some information but not that much.
  13. I think Ian Flatters has a pair of the mesh ones. May be worth asking him where he got his? Jake
  14. I suppose that is an easier option if there is a static line in place. If not just tie one end to the trunk.
  15. Am am currently at college and took my CS30 in January. I had to carry out two boring cuts but the logs were laying on the ground. I had to bore through the log and then bring the saw back up through the top of the log. Then I rolled the log over and had to line the cuts up to show that I was still accurate. Fairly simple, just to show the assessor that you have full controol of the saw when boring at full throttle. If the log is suspended by two other logs at each end then he'll have to take into account tension and compression. So bore through, come back out through the top and then go back in underneath the log to sever it. That way the saw will not get stuck in the kerf and his cuts should line up.
  16. Afternoon All. I am currently in need of some information on a couple of tree planting spades (Schlick and Mansfield). I am just wondering if someone would be able to point me in the right direction of a couple of good websites that have some info on them. If not websites then some books and their authors would be good too. Cheers, Jake
  17. If you haven't got one already I'd look at investing in a Pantin. And maybe even a hand ascender too. Just to make the long haul a bit easier on the arms. A set up like this may be worth looking into. (Using a hitch climber instead of the ZZ!!!!!). It is a petzl basic which he is using as the rope grab, then you could still use a pantin on the tail. 18. Did you get them from a seller on eBay, if so would you be able to put a link up? Cheers, Jake
  19. Yup......that's impressive. AND MASSIVE!!!
  20. Haha yeah I bet some will say that. I'm only 17 and I think gloves are easier to climb in IMO. Jake
  21. Hi all. Just thought I'd ask whether you climbers use gloves or not. Or is it just personal preference?? I for one prefer to climb with the rubber dipped brick layer gloves but I am able to climb with out them. Cheers, Jake
  22. Hi all. Just like to thank you for all the replies and to let you know that I have an Echo HC 1500 on order! Cheers, Jake.
  23. There has been a case in the past where a golfer was playing in a thunder storm and he had a stream of water running down his side. As he took a swing at the ball his club was struck by lightning, the lightning followed the stream of water which was running down his arm and then down his leg to the floor. This saved his life as it was guiding the lightning away from his heart. Very lucky fella I'd say. Jake
  24. Just a thought judging from the second picture. It looks like the handles could be a bit low for the taller tree surgeons. Jake
