  1. My swivel is a bit stiff too but I have only climbed on it once. I think it will loosen over time. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Thank you! Straight it is then. Gomtaro 300 a good saw? Do you all use a saw pod or do you have it hanging off of your harness? If you have used both, what do you prefer?
  3. Hi everyone. Looking to buy my first Silky Saw but cannot decide whether or not to go for a straight blade or a curved blade. Any of your tips and opinions please. Cheers.
  4. Silky Fox how do you find the 11.7 mm Yale Blue Tongue? Thinking of changing to a smaller rope.
  5. Yes it is 13mm Yale XTC Plus, 13mm is okay but is isn't the easiest to thread through the ZZ but once it is on there it doesn't need to be taken off so I dont have any problems with it. On the other hand, other ZZ users have said that slightly thinner rope does self tend better so when I need to change my rope I will be ging down to 12mm. You say you have Marlow rope, I have always found them to be fairly stretchy rope and apparently the ZZ works better on rope with less stretch. If you did want to change rope then I would recommend either Yale or New England. Yale Imori is a good rope and it is 12mm.
  6. Yeah like I said I use it with a Single Fisherman's Loop and it does work fine but you do have to make sure you set it right and slightly to one side.
  7. Does anyone else use it without a splice on the attachment end? Just because I don't have a splice on either end of my rope so I have to climb on a Single Fisherman's Loop. Anyone have any tips to make the knot smaller?
  8. I recieved the ZigZag on Friday morning and climbed with it all afternoon. I have never felt anything so smooth. Ascending is much easier than using a normal prusik as the ZZ is s one pull system. The trigger for descending is so light it is unbelievable. One thing I will say is 13mm rope is a bit stiff to thread through. I would definitely recommend this to all climbers!!! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Just out of interest do Husqvarna or Stihl ever have any stands there? I havent been to the game fair in 2 years.
  10. Yeah I use the rubber palmed ones t the minute and there are alright but for long climbing periods they do wear down a bit. Thank you for you opinion though.
  11. Would you recommend the Petzl Cordex Belay Gloves for general climbing??? Just thought I'd ask for your advice before I buy.
  12. Ah sorry about that man! I've used it for email addresses and stuff for a long time now and didn't think to check if anyone had the same name on here first . How's work out there in Melbourne? Over here there is a lot of talk about some good work over there.
  13. I'll also be helping to set up on the Friday. Hopefully I'll see a few of you there so I can get a few tips. I won't be competing but It'll still be a good weekend as usual!!
  14. Yeah thanks! I have heard of A1 but I have heard that they are more into the fire wood processing side of things rather than Arb.
  15. Hi All I wonder if any of you guys in Suffolk may be able to help? I am a first year student at Otley doing a level 3 Extended Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture. So far I have my CS30 and am due to do my CS31 in May or June of this year. I am extremely keen and a very hard worker, I may be only 16 (17 in March) but I am 6’4” and fit as a butchers dog. I am not in the least bit shy of a good days work! Therein lies the problem, work, college means I am free at weekends and Tuesday and Wednesday. Birthday in March means DRIVING LESSONS so I am going to need some way of earning a few quid. I have done voluntary work with a local arb company and am competent (and safe) with chainsaw as well as a chipper. Please do not be put off by my age, I am sensible, very safe and no fool, I feel I would be a great asset. I live in Woolpit so with the lack of transport, work would have to be relatively local. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I really hope I get the opportunity to work with some of you soon. Jake 07547 457125
