  1. I rest my case your honour..... How can that not make you laugh??
  2. This has all the ingredients of de-railing down the path it's highlighted as trying to avoid.... Are you calling my pint a lass?
  3. Fair one, no harm intended, it just cracked me up - I have a fairly infantile sense of humour
  4. Legendary! 5 posts into a thread complaining about play ground style bad behaviour, the originator becomes the example.... Couldn't make it up!
  5. Yes, quite right, I was going to state "general utility trailer", but then I thought that's still too vague so I was going to add a manufacturer and model number, then I thought I was being too specific.... But you're absolutely right, it's all in the question. You're on the mark with the description you suggest I think. Hells Bells! It was hiding in the open..... Who'd have thought of checking the LA website?????? :blushing: https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/transport-and-streets/parking/car-park-tickets-and-permits/how-can-i-obtain-a-parking-dispensation/ I am quite genuinely taken aback! Still, the trailer question remains an outstanding issue - is it a vehicle if unhitched?? Hopefully "Justme" will get an answer from officialdom.... I'll stop shaving in the meantime and see if we get a definitive answer before I'm tripping over my beard.....
  6. When a trailer is unhitched and unassociated with a tow vehicle is it classified as a "vehicle" in its own right and subject to road traffic laws / Highway Code. If no, is there a regulation which would preclude it's being parked on the highway?
  7. Possibly an element of encouraging a certain demographic Gary, but there are seldom enough of them to be an effective inducement in isolation, after all, the entire supermarket scenario is a masterpiece of marketing strategy based on convenience. As Mrs J has often remarked, she wouldn't mind if the parent / toddler spaces were in the furthest flung corner of the car park, its not so much the location but rather the wider spaces that allow doors to be opened to extract the little darling without banging Mrs Miggins Morris Minor which has been parked by a blind pensioner with impaired special awareness. Perhaps if these specifically allocated spaces were further away it might avoid encroachment from users of other nominated spaces which they tend to ferociously guard with a sense of entitlement that seems to extend into all other areas. Not that big a deal, just musings of a madman....
  8. No, not at all! It seems NO rules apply to blue badgers.... Like parking in parent & child spaces because the disabled ones are full or further away... That grates on me! It's not like they're even copulating so who are they trying to kid blocking up designated parent / child areas! I mean, it takes an extra 2.36 minutes to grab a pasty at Morrisons if I have to go in the unallocated areas 😬
  9. That's a good find and it seems to support how I was thinking the rules (or absence thereof) might apply. The discussion seems to have split down 2 lines of thinking - Can you (without infringing rules / regs) And, Should you (perhaps morally) Just to clarify, I wouldn't set out to deliberately or intentionally cause an obstruction, the trailer is sign written so not a good idea for several reasons. If I go down the route of leaving it on the yellows it would mean that 1 lane would be closed so traffic would have to yield to pass on the other side. It's a very quiet rural village so not like an A road or heavy usage. Interesting thoughts and comments so far! 👍🏻
  10. Makes absolute sense. I'm thinking, when unhitched, a trailer is not a vehicle and therefore not subject to associated regs - if unhitched there's no need for a number plate. Time to try and get a definitive answer from parking Stasi.
  11. I agree, but the key part I'm trying to establish is, if not attached to a vehicle, is a trailer subject to Highway Code / RTA etc. Appreciate the difficulty getting a "feel" for the situation without knowing the ground conditions. Perhaps the answer is to unload and then park the trailer away at another location - it's quite a faff though since it would be a fair way away (and out of line of sight.) I saw the local parking Stasi at a burger van at lunchtime - wish I'd asked him!!
  12. It's an awkward garden entrance for a job. Not enough room to swing in the 110 & trailer but if unhitched trailer could stay on the road - It's for the duration of a job not routine parking.
  13. Anyone have any knowledge of the rules for this? If the trailer is unhitched from tow vehicle, can it be left on double yellows since it's not a vehicle? I recall a piece in the local paper that quoted the council answer to criticism over travellers not having parking tickets on the caravans as stating they didn't need them because a caravan is not. Vehicle. I found rule 242 in Highway Code but can't find anything specific to answer the question. Any ideas?? Rule 242 You MUST NOT leave your vehicle or trailer in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road.
  14. Deserve to be laid in a lime bath, maggots!
  15. Was just thinking about Jon today. Anyone keeping in touch? Is he OK?
  16. Are you supplying from the Midlands to Tavi? Woodworks or Timber Cutter Dartmoor may be interested if they see the post....
  17. Are they RHI or regular? It can come with an RHI ticket if required. 2x large Beech coming out this month in Tavi, not seasoned - straight off the tree.
  18. Can't suggest a solution Gary, sorry... I just wanted to float in what I think could be a possible negative unintended consequence of what might be considered (by the private / domestic tree owner) as overly conservative application of the regs and potential perceived (again, by the private / domestic tree owner) intransigence (by TO/PO) in achieving mutually satisfactory solutions. Where a householder feels they have been exposed to a negative experience (wether fairly or otherwise depending upon which side of the fence you're on) I think it's highly likely that they will form a life-long antithesis towards all things TPO and probably trees in general. As a consequence, and instead of creating an ally, ways may sought to avoid future TPOs, remove immature trees and circumvent planning and environmental regulations all to the long term detriment of sustaining, maintaining and improving the treescape. A fine balance needed to be sure......
