  1. Brilliant! Howling!! Ted sent me a batch of bumper stickers over a month ago! There are a reassuring number of cars / vans / trucks riding the Liskeard super highway with "Trump - Make America great again" fender stickers!
  2. Where a bouts in Morocco? I spent a month surfing out of Taghazout (just realised it was 10 years ago which shocked me!) Great times, very, very nearly bought a house and set about a surf / moto cross endeavour with a buddy. I had a personal cross-roads, blow it all and take a risk on a lifestyle choice with a mate, or get a grip of myself, marry the girl I'd been seeing and settle down.... So here I am...... All settled down......
  3. Thinking that will be stunning planed, sanded and oiled.... Any plans for use yet?
  4. That's getting close to what I was thinking.... All good stuff (Esp MB's first post! ) There was one key piece of advice I received early on and I've spoken and seen quite a few micro/SME types that have agreed since - for the sake of your own sanity / health / relationship, learn when to say no! Easier said than done I know! There was that thread a while back about how folks deal with not getting the job after quoting - from memory, it was a good read. Learn when to say no, or perhaps to put it another way choose your potential customers wisely. Don't waste time on chancers, bargain chasers and dick heads. Make every minute count and try to spot the time wasters before they waste your time.
  5. 8km from Riga..... Bloody hell that's tempting, had some of the best times of my life in Riga!
  6. I'd wager a tenner you'll be looking for another buyer! It might seem a pain, but rather that than chasing up non-existent payment after bike has gone!
  7. Green folding, or Foxtrot Oscar! I sold 2 bikes to a geezer in a van (BMW R1200GS & KTM 200 SX) He turned up, looked at the bikes, agreed the price and whipped out a bundle. We sat at the garden table counting £50 notes on a Saturday afternoon. Half way through, I thought, I wouldn't know a hooky £50 from a straight one so I told him - we've shook hands, the deals done, I won't sell to anyone else if you come back Monday, we'll go together and pay the cash in over the counter at the bank then you can load the bikes and be on your way. That's exactly what he did and he fully understood my position. We shook hands again and agreed if I wanted to sell anymore I'd call him first. That's how I like to do business, everybody finishes up satisfied and looking forward to the next deal. Your situation sounds like a classic P take! Steer well clear!!😡
  8. At first, with early morning bleary eyes, I thought you'd typed "Jacopo" (The Count of Monte Christo by Alexander Dumas - Character Analysis - Simple, naïve, oblivious: call him what you will, but Jacopo is a true friend to Edmond. He saves him from the roiling surf, tends to him when he's wounded in a fight; in short, he's always got his back. Sure, he can be a little bit of a pest – he won't leave Edmond alone when he wants to start treasure-hunting on Monte Cristo – but can you really blame a guy for wanting to help?) An exceptional story (a master-class) of true, determined revenge in my opinion. Then, on re-reading, I see its Jacamo! 😆 Useful link on injury stats you posted earlier Jomoco!
  9. It's a race to order the coil then just in case there aren't many available!!
  10. The 2 links below indicate what HSE says... Chainsaw personal protective equipment (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment for Aerial Tree work
  11. Its just a bit frustrating since we left the coil to last since the start and tick over pushed us away from thinking it might be coil - plus wanted to fix / replace cheaper parts before going for replacement coil.
  12. That was the big city - Truro! We ain't got flash shops like Tesco in Liskeard!! Winds picking up though, I'm off to the pub!
  13. It's a phone in Mick, it's not meant to be a comedy show, but given some of the random "Cornishness" that comes out in a live phone-in it often has me in fits! There have been various subjects throughout the afternoon. My little bit was end of show -40mins ish.
  14. I managed to get on in the last 10 minutes of the phone-in and shared the info you highlighted here David! (with credits)
  15. The debate is raging on the phone in show BBC Radio Cornwall - Laurence Reed, 17/08/2016
  16. Changed the carb - no fixxy! That really just left the coil.... (left 'til the end as the more expensive replacement option) Had a disk cutter in bits so thought I'd try the coil from that to see if it made any difference... Looks like that was the problem, coil from disc cutter worked - but is governed so can't be a straight swap out - at least now I can justify paying for a replacement coil.
  17. BBC Radio Cornwall - James Churchfield and Pam Spriggs, 19/08/2016 article at (8:08) It would appear that the 1k/tree cost is before planting or aftercare....
  18. When you say "client" do you actually mean the home/tree/estate owner that you are doing the work for, or do you mean the company/outfit that tells you where and how to go and do the work on a task they have sourced? You seem to use the term "client" for one and "I subby" for another, it's a bit confusing....
  19. Hopefully there'll be more detail on the radio tomorrow. The afternoon show is a phone in "lunchtime with Laurence," and he LOVES to hold the LAs feet to the fire (and gives due praise where appropriate.) It's not uncommon for lazy journo's to get the detail wrong, incomplete or politically biased (so as to whip up a frenzy) so there's not enough detail to get stuck into yet. The people of Cornwall, I think, are more concerned with the potential loss of £29k rather than 29 trees and stories like this do nothing to raise the profile of new planting....
  20. Bloody hell! That Panda is my daughter!!
  21. Grand a piece must include the extortionate on-costs that the council's arm's length contractor charged for planting....? If a similar tree is available (retail) at £186 per piece, where has the £1000 per tree figure been drawn from? Is that the cost to supply and plant? Could it be the council's 'arms length contractor' that changed that sort of money? The contractor that is Cornwall council's 'preferred' contractor, the one that is 100% owned by Cornwall council and provides profit share back to Cornwall council? Just wondering.....
  22. £186 inc from Barcham! https://www.barcham.co.uk/products/platanus-x-hispanica
  23. London Plane trees (imported from Italy) at >£1000 a piece all failed. I'll see if I can capture the i-player interview / news piece from the radio tomorrow See FB Link (you may have to scroll down a bit, not sure how to link to an individual story from FB?) : https://www.facebook.com/BBCRadioCornwall/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED&fref=nf
