  1. He cracks on that he makes some tidy money from it, ranks in the regional, national & international tournaments apparently (I’m not sure how much of that is BS - but I guess that’s a good characteristic in a poker player?) I’m not for gambling myself, too tight wad. There was an interesting case I remember where a poker player bent HMRC over and gave them a spank which pleased me! They claimed it was declarable income and he said it was hobby (I’ll have to look it up now... can’t quite remember if it was HMRC or a bitchy ex wife CSA scenario...)
  2. That is pants! A pointless exercise!! You’d only be insured for the periods you probably least need it? Might as well spend the money on something useful like beer & kebabs! The insurers are hedging their bet so far as to make their service meaningless. Who is it so we can all body swerve ‘em?
  3. Nuc it, 3 years later you’ll wish you’d sent in ground troops as a follow up!
  4. Long shot... Do you know Scott Betteridge? Tall, freaky looking fucker from Pensilva, well into his online & tournament poker? Makes a fair turn of it by all accounts.
  5. Is Hawthorn a middle class tree Khriss? Do trees abide by social constructs....? Or are they just "happy" to be in Kernow??
  6. Ummmm.... Slightly embarrassed now.....
  7. Bonnie Soonbescarff Mead (assuming it is a female) is clearly retarded in the domestic duties department.... Simple rules of gravity would dictate that the water would drain downwards away from the waistband in example A, thus allowing more efficient evaporation drying at the waistband than would be the case in B where water would be continuing to saturate the area which is known to be the slowest to dry obviously resulting in the legs drying much quicker than the waistband which would require longer on the line taking up valuable space where other washing could be hung out..... Get a grip Bonnie, you're a disgrace to your gender and will likely see out your miserable life as a crinkled, dry and bitter spinster....
  8. Dam good ignoring.... ?
  9. The part I haven't quite got to grips with yet (but it doesn't matter because I'm not going to do it anyway) is whether it is necessary to register (and pay the registration fee.) "...The Government has announced a new charging structure for data controllers to ensure the continued funding of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)..." https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/accountability-and-governance/guide-to-the-data-protection-fee/ So, what that means is, you have to register, pay a fee to pay for the process of registration... If I've ever heard of a bigger scam? Pay a fee to maintain the cost of a QUANGO that needs to check if you've paid a fee? Give me strength! I've done a privacy policy statement for the webpage and an audit of data storage, that's about as much as I'm going to do... The massive majority of people I've spoken to are giving it a DGI!
  10. Nah, JC put DA in charge of it and it’s beeen a balls up ever since ? We’re in leaf here (strong Tory seat mind!)
  11. It's always "somebody else's fault" and "somebody else's responsibility to fix it."
  12. A fair retort... Especially if you've seen it in effect.
  13. I wasn't advocating the company Ed, just signposting to some of the references on their easy to find web page. Are you being a bit harsh on them though.... (I don't have a horse in that particular race btw) An equal generalisation might be - It's a capital fund which buys larger plots from agricultural owners (that were in it for the investment return rather than much genuine interest in good forestry / woodland management) that have exploited the subsidy / tax benefits which are generally coming to the end of their useful draw-down by the time WL.C.UK. get their hands on them. Divvy them up into smaller parcels, put an access road in and sell on at an extortionate profit to hobby woods folk. Granted, probably not a viable commercial output once divvied up, but conversely, where has commercial forestry got us in the preceding 70 years? Hardly a glowing record whereas personal investment and interest at least has the potential to re-wild / naturalise previously clear felled and mono planted forest blocks and it is a means by which people are reconnecting with nature... Surely not ALL bad?
  14. Politics (and farming) touches all aspects of life, we are agreed ???
  15. That's inaccurate and unfair my grumpy Northern friend... It's not "bashing", it's an observation that bemoaning a situation that (in some circumstances could be considered to be of the complainants own making) is not always conducive to the unconditional sympathies of other business sectors - especially when other business sectors (a) don't tend to moan so much and (b) don't have a fraction of the systemic advantages of the agricultural sector... You live in the Islands, it's cold, the grass doesn't grow so quick, it makes you grumpy, this isn't a farming forum..... Ummmmm...... Not sure where else to go with that..... ??
  16. Cut the grass for the second time yesterday.... Folks were cutting in March - but that is just RUDE! Now then, it's a discussion I've had many times with the neighbours when they are complaining about lambing at Christmas. It is the pursuit of the perception of profit which drives farmers to put the ram in early so as to get the best prices for early season lamb. It's a volatile market and a risky strategy where input effort / cost often exceeds output sales value.... The difficulties this presents is that it means young are in the shed rather than the field. It's grain rather than grass where inputs costs have the very real potential to negate early profit, early conception gives rise to greater risk of infection with blue tongue since the mossies are still around, and of course the labour / inconvenience of animal husbandry in the cold / dark of pre-Spring. I'm not having a pop, just saying, I can't sympathise for the hardships which, more often than not, are self inflicted by artificially advancing the natural cycle of conception in the pursuit of profit, then have a grumble when it doesn't work out.... You know when the grass starts, time the ram to suit the start of the growing season.....?
  17. Good example.... I get weekly planning enforcement notices and weekly 'cases closed' notices for Cornwall. I used to read them every week but it very quickly became obvious that nothing tangible (that's not entirely accurate, of the 10's of cases per week, maybe 1 per month were valid infringements and the remainder were petty complaints that never went anywhere) ever seemed to happen - so I stopped reading them. It'll go nowhere... Forget it!
  18. Shocking..... and they wonder why maggots get killed!
  19. That's an interesting one Gary. Sounds like, either, there's more to it than a "woodman's hut" or the TO is being a bit over enthusiastic...? Birds in wood, who'd have ever thought that would happen.... Not suggesting it's authoritative but some tips / potential follow up points here: http://www.woodlands.co.uk/owning-a-wood/woodlands-and-planning-legislation/
  20. You mean, grumpy old barstewrad Mull! What's got your goat... Raining up there again?? Come on now, Spring is in the air, it's a time of new growth, anticipation, and boundless optimism (even in Scotland ???)
  21. Dianne Abbott???? ????
  22. Possibly with an alcohol dependency issues since he appears to be chugging double pints!
  23. 50 year old with dolls - requires some explanation.... Maybe perfectly plausible, however......
