  1. Are they 2 box new saws Khriss? Is that a trading course? If not, I am now fully converted and convinced that “refresher training” has a valid claim to legitimacy!! ?
  2. Barber - £10/cut 4+ cuts an hour.... maybe the grass really IS greener over there.....? ?
  3. Maybe it’s just my inherent confrontational disposition, but.... My very brief reply would along along the lines: How about you try and decide if it’s “expedient” before you next write, my time is too valuable to be filling in forms and writing back to your BS letters! (In all seriousness, they are TELLING you they don’t know if it’ll be worth their effort.... Oblige them with even less effort! Depending upon your confidence levels regarding the shed’s eligibility)
  4. Whilst acknowledging that it’s dodging the question.... If it was a case of - what 3 items would you take, I’m pretty certain vinyl discs wouldn’t feature. ?
  5. Best not mention the giant African land snail to him then - he’d likely go off on the sick! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lissachatina_fulica bloody African snails, coming over here eating all our veg ?
  6. There’s a separate thread in it! Youre stuck in a nuclear bunker for the next 30 years, which Arbtalkee would you take with you to: (a) talk (b) batter (c) recreate with (c)’s are gonna be a bit thin on the ground but there was that post that referenced weapons, lingerie and lube.... ?
  7. Which one was that Gary? I went and looked at this one a year or 2 back.... http://www.falmouthpacket.co.uk/news/11008109.Secret_underground_nuclear_bunker_up_for_sale_near_Newquay/
  8. It’s certainly an historic and ground breaking departure from long standing and deeply ingrained UK military doctrine.... the greatest concern will be if we have just witnessed a precedent being set which will forever change military ethos in the UK? RAF working on the weekend......? i can feel the shockwaves from here.....
  9. I like it on many levels - such a shame that other developers and town planners can't 'invest' a bit more thought and care into planning a green and pleasant land of the next generation.... http://duchyofcornwall.org/poundbury.html
  10. Yes I did Ti, sorry mate I don't do private performances except by Royal Warrant.... Could you write to my agent in St Tropez and we'll see if we can arrange to smuggle some hot buttered Malaysian boys in through back channels for your bachelor party.... We've had problems with this type of thing before mate, can you offer a guarantee that any permanent marking or disfigurement will be avoided? It gets tricky getting them back to their villages without awkward questions being asked. I've got a few possible lines I can try next week but this type of thing has got increasingly more difficult since the cursed Tory austerity measures... I'll make some calls next week and get back to you....
  11. You ever been there Stubby? I'd driven past it over many years transiting between Portsmouth and Plymouth. Watched it grow from green field to all built up and one day decided, I'm going for a look see at this. Cracking example of modern town planning. Integrated commercial and residential, open green spaces, thoughtful and aesthetically pleasing mixed architecture, it's bloody posh mind, they got Waitrose!!
  12. Unfortunately - an all too regular occurrence. I was really quite impressed with the (lack of a) system in Poundbury. By my reckoning, it's the over use of signs and lines on the road which seek to, or are interpreted as, bestowing a 'right' or 'entitlement' upon us such that, when those rights or entitlements are perceived to be infringed, or someone is perceived to have taken a liberty, based upon the state imposed 'rights' marked upon the road, the obligatory condition of 'hard done by ness' results from the sense of having something taken away from you. In Poundbury (I've only been there the once, quite a few years ago so I'm shooting from first impression / memory. If someone has more local / recent knowledge happy to be corrected) there are shared spaces for vehicle, cycle, pedestrian, no centre or edge lane markings, no signs, no give way, no parking lines etc etc.... You might think chaos would ensue, but from what I saw, it was quite the opposite! Each road user was taking responsibility for their own decisions - eg, approach a T junction, slow down, look all around for other road users, make eye contact, decide what was safe to do, often even nodding and smiling at the other driver before following through the manoveure. No argy-bargy, just autonomous human interaction. I think it's a model that could be applied across many sectors of society - stop people thinking they have a 'right' and start them thinking they have a 'responsibility!' What a utopian world that would be.....
  13. I’m (generally) pro Russia Mark, certainly not anti. But come on, are you (and Jeremy) seriously suggesting it’s all a put up job? Seriously....? WWIII is a terrifying prospect and no sane person would wish for us to take that path (as you were Vesp) but you can’t seriously think (despite your apparent loathing of Western capitalism) that this is a set up to make the Reds look like the villain?? for my part, a dominant factor in voting FUEU was the destabilising effect of the ever persistant creep of the EU through former Soviet block states hardly the actions of a body that sought ‘peace’ and stability in our time.
  14. I didn’t mean your drinking, I meant mine ?!!!
  15. Have you cleverly changed something that I can't be bothered to look for or did you forget to write what you were thinking..... ? It's possible I'm not writing what you're reading after a couple too many.....?
  16. "If" it's out of order, let them tell you why. "If" it isn't they won't be able to. "If" you (pay) apply for consent they may or may not approve - but they'll have your money. "If' it is "allowed" they'll still have your money. "If" it is isn't allowed you may have to take it down, but that won't happen for quite some time and you won't have paid for the privilege. Without providing any advice that may or may not choose to act upon, if it were me, I'd leave the letter in the "maybe I'll get back to that after I've tidied the cutlery draw" file....
  17. For all the part messages I'd typed for Mark, before getting to the end of the thread, I can happily delete them all.... except this bit: At what point does ridiculois become obvious Mark? (Not in chronological order) Russia passes law to facilitate execution of overseas dissidents. Russian dissident is assassinated with Russian sourced isotope. Numerous other Russian dissidents "meet unexpected end." UK scientists identify source of chemical agent. OPCW confirms UK identification of chemical agent. Russia takes responsibility for clearing chemical weapons from Syria. Syria suffers repeated chemical weapons incidents. Russia denies Syrian chemical attack ever happened. 24 hrs later, Russia claims "West" responsible for Syrian chemical weapons attack. Jeremy Corbyn is a clown and Dianne Abbot can't tell the time. and you know how much it pains us both to agree with each other Dave... But I have to say, I simply cannot find anything to disagree with you on this.
  18. Do nothing! Wait and see if LA are bold enough to take it through enforcement route. If not, don’t do anything! Matey would have said it’s OK just so he could get away without any hassles....
  19. Ah, understood! I thought you were suggesting the ABSCENCE of previous UK military action (resulting in current situation) placed an obligation upon us to accept displaced peoples. Eventhiugh I now understand more clearly, I’m afraid I still stand by the previous statement about displaced peoples - how they are displaced is rather a side issue. I might (only might) concede that there could be a moral obligation for post conflict transition, stabilisation and remediation however. That’s as good as you’ll get from me on that subject. Not entirely sure I subscribe to the apparent euphoric Pro Russian sentiment as appears to have appeared in relation to the “defeat” of IS in Syria. Im minded of that old Arab saying “the quickest way to make an enemy is to do a friend a favour” (or something like that...) We’ve yet to fully appreciate Russia’s motive for creating influence in Syria. Not so much Iran, that’s a bit more obvious....
  20. Hypocracy for what? Not taking direct kinetic military action sooner? Confused! parliamentary approval, or otherwise, is irrelevant in my reckoning. The solution will not be found in military intervention. Russia and Iran , for fucking meddling, before the mighty Israel laces the gloves up and starts issuing some serious spanking.
  21. Starting from the bottom and working up Mark... Displaced people should be provided temporary safe haven as close as is reasonably practical to the origin of the displacement so as to facilitate a speedy and efficient reabsorption to place of displacement on completion of hostilities. Military action NOW, makes a mockery of the absence of it for the preceding years - which I happen to agree with. Serious Economic and diplomatic action would be, IMHO, a better option all round.
  22. Tell him you're manufacturing gates in your shed and ask if he wants a set??
  23. Just picked this from British Gas page. Never mind BitCoin, buy stock in Norwegian Gas!!!
