  1. The timber looks lovely! The trailer definitely caught my eye too - great unit!! The pricing issue always seems to kill the option of milling unless either the miller or the owner particularly want that piece of timber. Criminal really but the cost of doing it always seems to take the shine off the reality of doing it (for the person that has to pay) as far as I've experienced. Once the owner knows what the cost of milling is, they seem to instantly loose their excitement. £1000 / board? Would you ever find a buyer at that price point Andy? I totally agree, it's a priceless commodity, but I can't find anyone that would pay those prices. I've got 2 old Beech sticks to mill (bit buts) but I'll do it for myself because I want a big slab kitchen table - the guy that I took the trees down for can have a couple of slabs if he's interested but the remainder is more likely to go to firewood.... Enough to make you weep really.
  2. Wouldn't stop pestering until I put her up there:
  3. Good piece that. I can see now that it’s not (necessarily) a case of advertisers having to subscribe to this service since they would (probably) be monitoring the success / return on their advertising budget and spending where best results follow a certain advertising media. If Google / Facebook are stealing a pace on the other options, it follows that they will grab the lions share of the available advertising budgets. Vesp, I think you are uncharacteristicly well off the money on this one - are you in denial because the thought of someone tracking your YouTube viewing history presents the probability of a visit from certain ‘agencies?’ ??
  4. Any options for a demo or were they sold as seen??
  5. Too right! Rather than having to secretly mine for info, people are willingly throwing it at them now.
  6. It all got a bit out of control when they pushed it too far Stubby! ”Ice Cold in Alex” Ive been hooked on the lager ever since!! (and the big tits thing DEFINATELY works.... Just checked my browsing history and found they’ve already loaded it for me ?
  7. Bit tricky that one.... Nearest picture house is across the river and it probably already knows I don't go into Devon unless in case of national emergency... I'm going to ponder some cheeky testers!
  8. I wonder if it has the functionality to recognise pre-set keywords and bombard targeted people that have 'forgotten' to pay their invoices so as to save me chasing them up - my least favourite part of this game. So, for example, if I said "...I wonder if that that snaky bastard from Wotton Under Edge is as careless with his invoicing for his private dental practice as he is when 'forgetting' to pay for the particularly tortuous work that was done at his hillside coastal holiday home..." I'd happily pay a notional fee to have him bombarded with 'moral compass' references....
  9. Jeeeeez! It's not the mystical forces of the spirit world (although they may also be linked in), it seems it really IS Google: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/google-voice-search-records-stores-conversation-people-have-around-their-phones-but-files-can-be-a7059376.html https://www.guidingtech.com/stop-google-from-listening-to-you/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/phone-listening-facebook-google-ads/
  10. The random and coincidental part of this event is that I opened Google maps within seconds of the conversation about the takeaway. If I hadn't opened maps until tomorrow morning the relevance of the Chinese takeaway would have been lost - so maybe these voice activated keywords are also time sensitive? Going to do some random testing with carefully chosen key words to see what happens.... I'd never even given that a second thought but it makes absolute sense now you mention it. So if it were true, surely the advertisers would need to know about the service (and presumably pay for it). If that were the case, we'd probably all know about it because we ought to have been bombarded with requests to sign up to the subscription service. Worth doing some more research on this! Funny you should mention our dear friends at the Revenue Mark, you know how highly I regard those fine chaps. Got to the Chineses to collect the order, whipped out my card only to be told we only take cash - so had to leg it to the bank and retrieve a wad. Mmmmmm, high turnover, cash sales only - I'm not at all sure Hector is getting as much fold from our oriental friends as he might wish for.... ? Was following a similar thought process... That was NEVER going to slip by under the radar ? Smart TV - yes. Maybe it's the phone, maybe it's the TV. Will be looking at settings on all now!
  11. No way, way too random to be coincidence!
  12. Nope, we found an old menu at the back of the drawer and were discussing phoning an order through...
  13. I'm going to drink heavily to induce calm.... ????
  14. They must have bugged the hoose! Some elements of that village sound quite attractive (a bit like Newton Abbot ?)
  15. As a very rare deviation from the usual Saturday night steak dinner we are having a Chinese takeaway. This is a totally random and exceptionally rare event - there is no routine pattern or frequency. We were just talking about ordering by phone when the conversation changed to something else that caused me to open Google street view to find a business totally unrelated to the previous discussion. Clicked the cursor in the search box, didn't type anything, but the list of suggestions that came up was as shown in the attached pic. I've never used Google maps to find the local Chinese (I already know where it is!) How is this even possible? We don't have "Alexa" or any other voice activated tech. Has Google already infiltrated our minds and our homes? I'm by no means a tin foil hat merchant but this apparent "coincidence" has pretty much freaked me out....
  16. Lynher training http://lynhertraining.com/about-us/ used to do it, not sure if that's any good - it's in Devon
  17. Drizzle, but a bit less than drizzle really. First tangible moisture in the air for about 4 weeks! Madness really
  18. Quoted, not re-posted. I'll leave it at that until you are less menopausal.
  19. I have no idea if there’s any substance, or otherwise, to it and neither did I endorse or dismiss it. I said Remoaners are some desperate - unarguably accurate and that Soubry has always given me the impression of being the wrong side of iffy, also undeniably true (esp since it’s a personal opinion and therefore above challenge.) What has struck me whilst listening to the bleeding hearts that are being bruised by such harsh words as “scum”, is that the lovely ANTIFA types are going to have to rewrite their chant book if such words are deemed inappropriate. MPs engaging in Machiavellian shenanigans - who’d ever believe that on a day when I’ve been looking at Cornish MPs expenses and +/- £200k seems to be about the mark....
  20. They'm some desperate mind them Remoaners, and she has always given me the impression of not being above some shifty shenanigans.
  21. Also, maybe try local builders - esp heritage specialists. Might be a bit piecemeal / small scale if you want the lot gone. Have you considered local agricultural auctions - again, might be a hassle carting it to sale site and no guarantee you will get a good price or end up having to cart it back. Its a sorry reflection of the apparent lack of ‘value’ of timber by those that would rather the convenience of going to a builders yard on the day they need it.
  22. Quick search, found these http://www.welmacuk.co.uk/branch_loggers.htm Will have a better look on PC later
  23. I like that! Couple questions: Can you adjust cut length? Whats max diameter stick? Green wood and deadwood OK? Who’s selling these in UK (petrol or hyd rather than PTO) Reasonably priced? Rather than chipping, what a great method of gaining pallets of ready cut small log. Like it ??
  24. And there it is in a nutshell Mr ?! They only paid them North of £500/day for that gig. No self respecting, beer bellied, fry-up eater would bother to roll out of bed for that meagre wage... Should have advertised in Poland, there'd have been a 1000 applicants for every job. Bloody Brexit, it'll be the death of us.....
  25. I like the demountable body concept - compact yet capable & versatile!
