  1. They keep it in the family in these parts!!
  2. That’ll take the shine off it quick enough ?
  3. Or boshing the invoice in half when they pull out the folding?
  4. Just seen matey, later... Although, ‘‘tis like I said at W/E, get yonsel down the local print shop and get a box of triplicate, carbon invoice books knocked up. Keep it ‘70’s - yome not Steve Jobs!
  5. Mmmmmmm, thunk about it.... Not any clearer ? My Post was not intended as any form of criticism of the Westphalian, on the contrary, I rather like the cut of his jib.
  6. That westphalian fella is a wily bird.... He starts a thread to highlight what he perceives to be the inequities of the apparently arbitrary application of well documented and widely known conditions of contribution to the forum (by virtue of membership being dependant upon having read, understood and a willingness to abide by the rules.) I suspect, in the full knowledge that the thread he started will act both as the platform and encouragement of lesser mortals to break the very rules in question and so as to further advance and prove the observation highlighted in the thread title line.... You, Sir, are in league with Lucifer! (there's a place for you in the palace of Westminster!!)
  7. Honestly.... Who's first thought when they read this was (*insert your own word - mine was the colloquial term for male genitals)
  8. I’ve had a ponder ??s. Whilst a fine opportunity for gum bashing, this’ll be one of they threads which serves mainly as a platform for the spewing forth of venomous vitriol where no genuine opinions are likely to be swayed one way or the other to any significant degree. As such, the benefit of presenting any personal opinion would be a fairly fruitless undertaking. Ive cast my vote and will acknowledge the returned result of the majority. I may, or may not agree with whatever the result returns, but hey, I’m not gonna spend the next 2 years whining about it.... ?
  9. If only life was that simple mucker.... ?
  10. Now listen 'ere oatcake boy, I've only just happened along and found this little teaser. Got my vote in and pulled it back to 50 / 50 on the poll which is good. Maybe as the evening draws out and the productive, creative, contributors to society get home and catch up that lead will pull even further away from the work-shy, stay at home dossers that spend all day online rather than doing something more constructive with their lives.... Hold that thought whilst I compile a more comprehensive set of reasons for celebrating the premiership of the great lady after I get back from the gym....
  11. The spelling Police? (come on, now that WAS funny....)
  12. I'm just a tad suspicious here.... Either, as suggested, you have a comprehensive reading of esoteric philosophy, or (as I did).... You watched Noah late on Sunday night on BBC2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noah_(2014_film) If you happen to change your login name to Tubal-cain anytime soon I'll know which it is ?
  13. Just too many options to offer a comment there Ratty!
  14. Your logic / observation is irrefutable - but the proposed amelioration is never gonna fly (whah ?) Therein lies the rub with the likes of the Green party - some great aspirations but lacking the minerals to do what needs to be done to satisfy their own agendas.
  15. Travel was a killer here too with the “tips for improvement fairly meaningless (a) in a rural setting and (b) given the work sector: cycle more and use public transport! As to flights, I do fly and it is voluntary / choice but take the last one, a return flight to Israel for less that a train ticket to Glasgow. Whilst those parameters remain, the National psyche will remain or the ‘solutions’ or ‘incentives’ must come from government - provide / improve rural public transport at a level which makes it attractive and tackle the source of air travel pollution by tech improvements. Could never go vegan but treating meat as a treat and being very thrifty with it is just good health, economic and environmental sense.
  16. 2 flights and 2 dogs gave me a bit of a kicking:
  17. Holiday Inn was HIS choice.... Mine would be more akin to Saga “Spirit of Discovery” for style, comfort and cuisine. Did have the extreme privilege and pleasure of an 8 week work secondment to Saga Rose back in early 2000’s. Southampton- Azores - Caribbean- Cuba etc etc. Couldnt wait to turn 50 so as to qualify as a passenger. Trouble is, I didn’t realise your companion has to be 40 or above so having to wait for Mrs J to age sufficiently for us to go together...
  18. An alternative approach to the twi light years, and maybe raises some fair questions about nursing home business model. https://www.holidaysincornwall.com/man-plans-to-live-out-his-retirement-in-a-59-per-night-holiday-inn-rather-than-188-a-night-nursing-home/ Quite timely since I’ve just finished a garden reclamation / restoration after the eviction of a 12 month delinquent tenant resulting in the property having to be sold by the family to pay for their mothers care home...
  19. I was just watching that on NewsFlare the other day. That is some serious thug life!
  20. As if International Womens’ day isn’t enough, I’ve had ‘votes for women’ as a reply every time I’ve asked for a cup of rosey all day, and now it’s ‘Made in Dagenham’ on the bloody Beeb, Christ alive, if it’s not enough that they’ve got the vote..... ?
  21. Bit of background here: http://www.jhbcityparks.com/index.php/street-trees-contents-29 If only we knew then what we think we know now.
  22. What a classic dilemma.... I very often feel like I wish I had them, but for every time I wish they were there I realise that there are equal and opposite occasions when I'm glad they are not... ? What I think I might have to settle for are the wheel arch buckets... If Money were no object, and I could have a truck with and another without, I'd have this system: https://www.truckman.co.uk/decked
  23. I didn't realise it was 10t/day (if measured ?) That's still a lot of burning!
  24. EA D7 exemption allows for burning of green waste (<10t) generated and burnt at the same site but there are mandatory conditions like not creating a nuisance. Last time I did it neighbours complained but that was just the latest in a series of complaints about unpopular (but consented) TPO felling. After the first burn up I got a call from Env Health at LA, told them I had D7 and said they were welcome to attend next time to monitor wind direction / smoke drift etc - they didn’t come. Also worth telling local fire station it is a planned / controlled / monitored burn to avoid genuine (or vexatious) call outs which could be an unwelcome distraction and could attract a call out penalty (if you tell them in advance it can avoid embarrassment or wasted time) Dot Gov Link here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/waste-exemption-d7-burning-waste-in-the-open
