  1. Interesting - in its own right and as relates to a circumstance closer to home!
  2. Mick (and OP), mine wasn’t meant as an offensive observation - a bit sarcastic I’ll concede - BUT I’ve been waiting ages to use that pic - it cracks me up! (meh, no one’s ever gonna believe that...)
  3. The solutions is simple Marcus! - meat rationing - immigration moratorium - maybe sterilise the Jeremy Kyle demographic also - theme gonna be at each other hellish now the show’s on the ropes! There’s 3 suggestions offum top of head. Don’t understand why the polimaticians find it such a struggle to grasp.....
  4. That’s a dreadful practice K! (where do you think I pinched it from ?!)
  5. A bit tangential perhaps....
  6. If you find them, can you send me the contact details? ? Be worth a fortune! There was a company in Plymouth I think “trees for free” or something like that. They’d smash the trees down and take any usable arisings and leave all the rest in a wood pidgin’s nest... Think they went bust ? PS - you’ve got off lightly so far.
  7. Bloody intellectuals - first to spoil a gag...
  8. If LPA have already consented TPO fell (albeit we don’t have detail of the justification case - tree might be fatally flawed elsewhere?) it might be assumed that they value the CA contribution of a (relatively recent) brick wall, over that of a mature tree - or they simply haven’t joined the dots and thought it through very well. ? Its not a ‘bad’ situation for tree owner to be in - it seems they have options rather than problems. If they want to keep the tree they can - at a cost. But they have green light to remove if they need to. There’s always the option to put some / all of the money saved from engineering works towards new planting (enough money to allow for choice, well established tree(s) in alternate location) chosen to allow full life-cycle. Good to see options being explored rather than an automatic default to fell, but sometimes the initial reaction is the initial reaction for a reason.
  9. So sorry Spud! Had a millions things going on and got confused, I’m sure there was an envelope with 4 grand cash and large bundle of herbal foliage. Much appreciated if you could return the items mentioned above. Not so bovvered about the saws, for your inconvenience, please feel free to retain or dispose as best suits.... Much obliged ???
  10. Anyone else catch that news feature about the Coroner’s findings after the death of a young lad with an extreme cheese allergy? Another lad threw a 50p sized piece of a cheese slice at him which hit him on the neck causing instant irritation and he died shortly thereafter. The school staff administered an anaphylaxis combi-pen but it was 12 months past use date. Following so soon after the girl that died after eating a Pret sandwich it has surprised me that such extreme allergies seem to be fairly widespread. Can’t help but think if I knew I had a cryptonite out there in the big bad world, I’d take appropriate measures for self protection. Not withstanding in loco parentis (in the case of the schoolboy) why would he not be carrying his own combi-pen and why buy food (rather than taking your own or being absolutely certain of the provenance of purchased food) if you know the severity of the allergy / potential implications? Is this an illustration of society’s apparent willingness to abdicate all responsibility for personal actions?
  11. Not at all, I totally agree. Stupid. But his actions and the ramifications for him are pretty far removed from anything I’m bovvereded about. PS reckon he’s pissed any chance of a gong ?
  12. ‘Ere Dad, do you know the piano is on my foot? You hum it Son, I’ll play it... Boom Boom ?
  13. Were the tea chimps a symbol of colonial exploitation - of tea and chimps?
  14. Mega gaff from a veteran public entertainment figure. Either massively naive and genuine or intentionally going out on a bang. Couldnt really give a monkeys either either way, don’t really know who he is. I saw the gingerist picture which was mildly amusing - but as a private citizen I’m less constrained (or interested / bothered) by apparent public outrage.
  15. With a points based immigration system they could all be. Of course there wouldn’t be 300k of them though and it would only leave the moral dilemma of asset stripping other nations..... Can’t help but think of the anti Empire brigade and their collective self imposed guilt trip in such a scenario ?
  16. Only for those that are ideologically blinded to simple logic...
  17. We are experiencing a downturn in GP numbers - meh, not exactly ‘hot’ news. The has been a historic failure to plan and recover to a better level - meh, not exactly hot news. Adding +/- 300k bodies per year to a population is (a) ameliorating the existing problem or (b) exacerbating the existing problem? Situation not too hard to grasp really....
  18. “Apparently” an insurmountable problem which the great minds of successive governments of all colours, have been unable resolve. If only there was a blindingly obvious, relatively easily implemented, tried & tested, demonstrably affective system of controlling the number, quality and term of residence granted already in use elsewhere in the world which could be simply copied and rolled out without any significant effort.... I guess, until some simple sense and honesty is applied (and the whiny, hairy shirt wearing hysterics of the loony left misinterpretation of ‘controlled’ immigration as being somehow xenophobic or racist) we’ll have to carry on pretending that a points based immigration system isn’t the blindingly obvious way to go....
  19. It’s already started! The shed draggers and the roof box brigade - you’d think they’d never seen a single track road before ?
  20. Seriously, is it any wonder the NHS is on its knees - surfing on prescription. Or to more accurately describe it - another fecking DFL strap hanger milking the system to provide themselves with a hippy second career / semi retirement activity under the guise of charitable activity. More than happy to acknowledge the character building attributes of a demanding and physically challenging sporting activity but provision of such is the role of the PARENT not the fecking state or charity sector. https://www.piratefm.co.uk/news/latest-news/2864670/surfing-wil-be-made-available-on-prescription-for-children/ #treating the symptom not the cause
  21. A Texan walks into a pub in Ireland and clears his voice. To the crowd of drinkers. He says, "I hear you Irish are a bunch of hard drinkers. I'll give $500 American dollars to anybody in here who can drink 10 pints of Guinness back-to-back." The room is quiet and no one takes up the Texan's offer. One man even leaves. Thirty minutes later the same gentleman who left shows back up and taps the Texan on the shoulder. “Is your bet still good?", asks the Irishman. The Texan says yes and asks the bartender to line up 10 pints of Guinness. Immediately the Irishman tears into all 10 of the pint glasses drinking them all back-to-back. The other pub patrons cheer as the Texan sits in amazement. The Texan gives the Irishman the $500 and says, "If ya don't mind me askin', where did you go for that 30 minutes you were gone?" The Irishman replies, "Oh...I had to go to the pub down the street to see if I could do it first".
