  1. Puppy training coming along nicely:
  2. What language is that? Electricery is white man’s magic - don’t mess with stuff that can kill you without even seeing it. Was a proper red mist rage today though - not fair to upload that story on this thread though
  3. I didn’t mean to imply that withdrawal of the notice was ‘a preferred course of action’ but merely that it is 1 option. Seeking or discussing the reasons why the request to withdraw it was made might be a first step in understanding how things might progress to mutual satisfaction. I know, an uncharacteristicly mellow suggestion which may, at first glance seem submissive, but jaw-jaw an all that. Normal service will be resumed shortly - I’m trying to maintain a (relatively) mellow January. Although I failed spectacularly with an epic, no holds barred, all guns blazing (wholly justified multiple expletive) rear up with the sparky re-fitting the solar panels today.
  4. Tricky one. Bit confused. You say it’s in a CA (but did I miss), does it already have a TPO? I’m guessing not since you ask is it worthy of one? If no existing TPO, I assume it is the LA that has asked you to withdraw the application (S211 notification). Your potential courses of action are: If CA but no current TPO - decline the ‘invitation’ to withdraw the S211 notice. Maybe amend it to show intention to replant (albeit without prejudice or obligation) Wait and see if TPO action is initiated by LA. Withdraw application / notice. Difficult to second guess the opinion of person that might review the tree for suitability for TPO but you should be able to access the LAs qualifying criteria for trees prior to initiating a TPO. Might give you a better idea. Tricky situation and likely to be at the discretion of the person making the judgement.
  5. Phew..... i wondered where that that was going... As I scrolled down to find the answer I was thinking- ME ?
  6. You get a good 'flavour' of the business from the slide show Pete, but for anyone that really wants to appreciate the intimacy, pride, cohesion and hospitality of Greenmech I would, without reservation, recommend a factory visit. The visit you hosted for the party I was attached to was such a good day and has left a lasting impression which will influence my future purchasing decisions. ?
  7. Alright, I’d have the mil, you have the .75. Hows that? But I’m staying in the porta cabin and you can be site boss...
  8. Weme could of done the work betwix us and lived quite happily off the 60/40 split of the tut Mr ?. Obviously I’d have to have the 60 otherwise you’d have nothing to moan about ?
  9. It's not so much the provision of temporary sites that troubles me - fair do's - it's the cost of establishing them. Now that is entirely down to the wasteful squanderlust of LA's when it comes to public money - example: Extract from link below. "...Work is due to begin this week on the second phase of Cornwall’s first transit stopping site for Gypsies and Travellers at South Treviddo near Liskeard. Pitches will be provided to accommodate up to 15 caravans at any one time. The transit site can be used for stays of up to three months in a year..." https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/council-news-room/media-releases/news-from-2018/news-from-december-2018/work-begins-on-planned-extension-of-emergency-stopping-place-for-gypsies-and-travellers/ The extension to allow up to 15 caravans is costed at £1.75 million! Bit of ground works, some foul services, bit of tarmac. How in the hell is that £1.75 million well spent tax payers money? By all means provide the land but why not allow those that wish to use it to build it themselves at a time when the LA is supposedly so hard up for cash? This is by no means a criticism of the 'need' to provide safe and reasonable spaces as a responsibility of a caring society, it is however a wide eyed incredulous disbelief at the amount of money this LA is prepared to pay for something that by all reasonable measure should be a fraction of that cost. (and just for balance, it's not a view that is applied to 1 particular social group, I also believe the LA should be providing the land for private first time homeowners to self build. The so called affordable housing schemes associated with developer led housing is a total misnomer and is a system that is failing many)
  10. Bloody SNP conference! They’re a menace to decent society..... ?
  11. Either a ‘shrewd move’ by progressing the application via a 3rd party (RSPB) thus creating a veneer of legitimacy and ‘distance’ from the tree owner..... Or, a genuine lack of appreciation of the implications.... Mmmmmm, layers of separation x area TPO which probably should have been updated and reissued in a better form = muddy waters. Maybe the money / influence / outrage of the neighbours + decent prosecution track record of that LA might tip the balance in favour of progressing a prosecution? Maybe a re-planting scheme as a compromise?
  12. Bloody sub Saharan airborne dust - coming over here taking our health! ??
  13. The milling is hard (but satisfying and personally rewarding) work. Finding someone to part with their cash is even harder. That's probably why so many of us end up with stacks of timber in the yard that never moves... It is a tragedy of our times that builders would rather go to the merchant and pay for imported just for the convenience. Mate recently was offered £10 a board for some Alaskan milled Elm. Scaffold boards are £10 a piece, needless to say, he didn't warm to the idea. Truly a tragedy that folks tend not to recognise the value of timber such as in the pics - lovely!
  14. The timber looks lovely! The trailer definitely caught my eye too - great unit!! The pricing issue always seems to kill the option of milling unless either the miller or the owner particularly want that piece of timber. Criminal really but the cost of doing it always seems to take the shine off the reality of doing it (for the person that has to pay) as far as I've experienced. Once the owner knows what the cost of milling is, they seem to instantly loose their excitement. £1000 / board? Would you ever find a buyer at that price point Andy? I totally agree, it's a priceless commodity, but I can't find anyone that would pay those prices. I've got 2 old Beech sticks to mill (bit buts) but I'll do it for myself because I want a big slab kitchen table - the guy that I took the trees down for can have a couple of slabs if he's interested but the remainder is more likely to go to firewood.... Enough to make you weep really.
  15. Wouldn't stop pestering until I put her up there:
  16. Good piece that. I can see now that it’s not (necessarily) a case of advertisers having to subscribe to this service since they would (probably) be monitoring the success / return on their advertising budget and spending where best results follow a certain advertising media. If Google / Facebook are stealing a pace on the other options, it follows that they will grab the lions share of the available advertising budgets. Vesp, I think you are uncharacteristicly well off the money on this one - are you in denial because the thought of someone tracking your YouTube viewing history presents the probability of a visit from certain ‘agencies?’ ??
  17. Any options for a demo or were they sold as seen??
  18. Too right! Rather than having to secretly mine for info, people are willingly throwing it at them now.
  19. It all got a bit out of control when they pushed it too far Stubby! ”Ice Cold in Alex” Ive been hooked on the lager ever since!! (and the big tits thing DEFINATELY works.... Just checked my browsing history and found they’ve already loaded it for me ?
  20. Bit tricky that one.... Nearest picture house is across the river and it probably already knows I don't go into Devon unless in case of national emergency... I'm going to ponder some cheeky testers!
  21. I wonder if it has the functionality to recognise pre-set keywords and bombard targeted people that have 'forgotten' to pay their invoices so as to save me chasing them up - my least favourite part of this game. So, for example, if I said "...I wonder if that that snaky bastard from Wotton Under Edge is as careless with his invoicing for his private dental practice as he is when 'forgetting' to pay for the particularly tortuous work that was done at his hillside coastal holiday home..." I'd happily pay a notional fee to have him bombarded with 'moral compass' references....
  22. Jeeeeez! It's not the mystical forces of the spirit world (although they may also be linked in), it seems it really IS Google: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/google-voice-search-records-stores-conversation-people-have-around-their-phones-but-files-can-be-a7059376.html https://www.guidingtech.com/stop-google-from-listening-to-you/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/phone-listening-facebook-google-ads/
