  1. What a truly dreadful, biased, fake news output from BBC News at One: Headline - Treasury / OBR report reveals Brexit negative impact on UK wealth / growth Literally 30 Seconds earlier on Politics Live (BBC 2), the report was noted as being “...not worth the paper it’s written on...” by O’Niel. Along with the ommissions and unfounded assumptions highlighted within the report by serious observers / commentators, there was still no mention, within the forecasts, of the potential collapse of individual EU state member national economies nor the possible +/- effects of being more or less obliged to bale them out from within the EU or not. Go figure ? Whilst on the subject of EU, anyone else coming around to the idea that EU insesant Eastward expansion delivers a global destabilising effect on world peace? If Russian annexation of Crimea didn’t make you ponder, how about the latest round of escalations and direct aggression? Still think the beast that is the EU is a good idea with Ukraine looking to the EU to further censure Russia? Talk about a self perpetuating tragedy (face-palm)
  2. What sort of state has our justice system fallen to when behaviour like a frenzied zombie knife attack DOESNT result in a severe custodial sentence? Best result there would have been for the car driver to crush the assailant between his car and a nearby building.
  3. And the public sector keep drawing their salaries and the tax payer keeps getting hit for the bill.... A never decreasing cycle of inefficiency and ineptitude ??
  4. As soon as there is any mention of TUPE it goes straight in the bin!
  5. Finally, some unequivocally GOOD news: https://apple.news/A911T2d9oSea3mr1NwDXZgw https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4191502/Incredible-moment-police-deliberately-ram-stolen-moped-a.html
  6. Swings & roundabouts I guess. With every option there must be compromises (Brexit excluded, obvs ?) I have a canopy (and am too precious) to heave big lumps in the back that’s not to say you can’t load it up though, just “place” rings rather than “heave” - so spay liner suits better than tub in my case. Apparently, it’s patch repairable too.
  7. I’ve used these before: https://www.turtlecovers.co.uk/ Good, quick service and decent quality. I got this done as a factory option https://line-x.co.uk/bedliners/ but there are franchised installers around for after market. I was given to understand that the poly liners have a tendency to trap water leading to potential rust problems down the line.
  8. I had months of frustration with the camera issue! Kept complaining until they admitted there had been manufacturers upgrade due to common issues. Toyota upgraded the camera shroud with a heated element - they should know that!
  9. If you are having ‘reliability’ issues with the forward facing camera - make sure it has been upgraded to heated casing. Mine was dreadful initially and it took many complaints to dealer until, ultimately, Toyota issued a mod which dealt with the issues associated with ‘misting’ inside the camera casing
  10. And that, right there, is the trouble..... Folks are just too damn polite to say what they really think....
  11. You’d need the legs of a giraffe on the body of a midget with a 3 year olds mental capacity (not an entirely unlikely set of circumstances in the Arb industry) to stand any chance of sustaining a lower body injury from a pole saw!
  12. What’s even worse than a “walk on by” culture? A stop and film culture... Not a decent fight amongst them (either side) but by weight of numbers alone, the Rozzers were on the back foot. It needs to be tazers all round or change 2 up patrols to 4 up. Just a matter of time before we reach a critical mass or a spark starts a fire.
  13. Brilliant! You've a talent for the 'at first glance, potentially slow burner threads' (thinking about all that time ago when you said "...seems like we're living in interesting times..." and, despite trying several times to kill it, it's still rolling at > 10.5k replies.....) This has got ? (wanted to find a dude running the other way, that would have been better...)
  14. Normalisation of deviation Jules! What good can ever come of that....?
  15. I’ve been signed up for many years. Neither the Parish nor County council had any interest or offered any assistance in the early days (despite both ‘supposedly’ have policies and webpages to the contrary) I went direct to UK Tree Council to sign up. Been some good CPD over the years. Really should try and give it some more attention. If you get no luck at a local level, go direct to Tree Council via their webpage ??
  16. The reason / purpose of the CA is relevant. At the risk of appearing to “flip”, I am currently supporting some (quantified) tree removal in a CA as part of a planning ap. The CA was specifically initiated to protect the historic and architectural value of a coastal fishing village and, in my interpretation, is being misapplied to otherwise low amenity value trees in an attempt to stifle a development opportunity where all other planning obstacles have been overcome and, as is not uncommon, the last vestige of objection has fallen to the tree issue. Im gonna stick with a ‘general’ stance of being in favour of brining potential transgressions to the attention of the appropriate authority - and leave them to decide - but more than happy to concede that individual circumstances may give rise to personal interpretations. Are many of the AT massive subscribed to the Tree Warden scheme? We’re out there in the sticks every day, I think we’ve got a lot to offer by way of observation and reporting of pests and diseases for example.
  17. ?? Theft alright? No grumbles if someone does your car wireless tonight then or lifts the 395XP you put down on the job site for 2 mins while pouring the tea... That's the conundrum in this situation... How do we answer to our own conscience what is "acceptable" and "unacceptable" when it is already set out in law. Each to their own and it's a good point about letting people get on with their lives free from the shackles of authority - I can buy into that too. I'm also sure I could quite easily reference some authoritative criminology studies which detail the progressive nature of minor (crappy CA tree in this case) towards more serious crimes (unauthorised felling of veteran TPO Oak for example) and the positive deterrence effect of adverse publicity, prosecution or even just a letter from the LA which might serve to avert the possible escalation - but I'm not that bothered. It's a good thread. ??
  18. Wouldn't matter what's in the rules..... They never read 'em and didn't apply 'em anyway....
  19. They've just upgraded ours since I threw the towel in! Ex RM Colonel and he is a complete cluster.
  20. Agreed, on the one hand, it's not the great train robbery. But conversely, "we" as those that should know better ought to hold ourselves to a higher standard. Perhaps you'd have a stab at the previous question - not withstanding the clear exam answer of what is and what isn't lawful is quite obvious, where on the scale of offences would YOU feel compelled to take overt action (even if there was a potential of flash-back)? Speeding - Y/N? Benefit fraud - Y/N? Tax avoidance - Y/N? Theft - Y/N? Assault - Y/N? FGM - Y/N? Murder - Y/N? Child abuse - Y/N? Of course I recognise there is a fine balance in the reality of life, it's just that I see it as one of those things where it's no good bashing your gums down the pub if you don't have the kahoonas to do what you know to be right because it might have a negative come back for yourself. Of course it's not the end of the world, but it does have direct implications for so many of the other common threads in this forum. For example, wages (and professionalism) will always stay low if poor practitioners and ill informed customers are content to low-ball the prices of the diligent. How are those poor practitioners or ill informed customers going to change their behaviours if this type of activity is seen, and perpetuated, as trivial or "not my concern?" It's good to talk about it, I wouldn't think any less of anyone for standing by their own opinion and I'd hope the same might be reciprocated. Personally, I'd have no problem spending 2 minutes sending an email if it were in my manor and I'd have no problem if someone got the hump about it telling them they are a f*cking chancer since they, and I, both know which of us is taking the piss.
  21. A pair of ratchet straps wouldn't be too onerous. What was in the trailer which is out of shot though....?
