  1. I was going to mention that! Timeless classic!! ?
  2. Never grows old Mr S! ?
  3. If Alan Johnson had run for leadership we’d be in a very different position now.
  4. Conversely, I’d suggest, and taking full account of the elephant ? in the corner there, it'd be a touch bold to propose that landscape usage over the preceding couple o hundred years has had absolutely no influence what so ever upon the current perilous state of affairs.... ?
  5. Superfluous Mr D!
  6. Hedges and banks removed for the advantage of intensive agri industry, trees clear felled, vast swathes of ‘efficient’ mono crops - all gleefully delivered by government subsidy and hard done by farmers claiming to be the poor down trodden guardians of the countryside. Behold the the fruits of your labours and hear my scorn as you plead poverty and continue to rape and desecrate the very source of your livelihood.
  7. All right Mr D! Don't panic, I can't see it being a contender for longest ever thread whilst yomeself and Silky Fox are still in the parish. ?
  8. It usually is Gary ??? (I don’t mean better than yours, I mean better than most! ?) Im still sticking to ma guns though, at the customer (and my meaning is domestic + Cornish - whatever the Latin for that might be) interface, it’s pretty much a total waste of time / effort and serves little more purpose than self aggrandisement.
  9. The wife returned home on Saturday after a 2 week absence at a residential course. She was somewhat dismayed at the scope and nature of that which had passed for ‘normal’ during her absence... EEEC283B-8644-4F81-BB5C-3D6148AF7469.mov
  10. Not entirely accurate - Wales & Cornwall also proved ‘awkward’ for the Romans. Maybe it was just too challenging in relation to the potential gain ?
  11. Not so fast Sherlock! Obv’s I can’t go into detail, but I suspect there are several more likely candidates for blame before the tree!!
  12. ?? where's that bang head off wall emoji gone.....?
  13. I agree (with what I interpret as) your broader observation Mark, but disagree with (what I interpret as) your overarching disagreement with the entirety of my post ? As ever, mine was (at least in part) la langue dans la joue in the hope that someone might present a better argument and justification for latin nomenclature than I had previously considered. ??
  14. That's a bloody shame mate.... Is it too much to ask that folks just 'do' what they said they'd do. Talk later...
  15. Any subsidence gurus working Wimbledon area I might be able to pass details on to a friend of the wife? If there is anyone working this area that might be interested in taking on a survey please drop me a line by PM for some more discreet details.
  16. Mon dieu Rodney! We used to send young children up chimneys too... That’s progress for you ?
  17. Here we go.... All aboard the ???? Haven’t you got drains to attend to ? I ‘spose the Yemeni asparagus, Hollandaise sauce and French white is out of bounds too....
  18. Touché Mr D!! ??? I’d concede and tolerate Johnny Foreigner product where no such comparable British manufacturer is available.
  19. If time permits then, and if no pragmatic compromise can be achieved, maybe just allow nature to take its course, reducing as hazard arises until there is no tree left. Then rebuild wall at leisure without the constraints and re-planting conditions...
  20. And so me ‘ole egg pudding, Latin nomenclature at the customer facing end of the Arb world is all a bunch of bollox. It is perpetuated by academic service deliverers who probably think it’s ‘clever’ and might be better filling the syllabus with something more practical and by poncy, shiny ass office jockeys with little greater practical application than proving to themselves how clever they are after learning - parrot fashion - something that very few people, outside of the scientific community, really care about. Even your 5837 survey requires Latin + common tree names (which I generally adhere to since I’m such a habitual conformist) but many don’t as can be seen by a cursory search and examination online. As to orders from foreign suppliers - well that’s simple to fix and hardly a justification of need - we’d have a lot less pests and diseases if we stopped importing dubious provenance product from Johnny Foreigner and bought British (from Barchams for example!) Rule Britannia, God save the Queen Buy British Speak English!
  21. Oh dear! If you skim over the habitual anti Tory tropes and focus upon the reasons for Campbell’s departure from Labour shores, I think he presents a very accurate and damning insight. Jeremy Corbyn, I no longer want to be a member of your Labour party | Alastair Campbell | Opinion | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Your losing mentality and lack of Brexit leadership mean I won’t return, says Alastair Campbell...
  22. I'm surprised it took quite so long - it was 'killing' me...
  23. 5.9" Mark, but who's measuring....?
  24. What were we talking about last night.....! Every letter, every word, every sentence....
