  1. Nail meets head ??s nevermind “benefit street” if folks were aware of the scale and scope of public subsidy and beneficial business terms provided to the ag sector there’d be outrage!
  2. Totally agree 2nd ½, not so much the first ½, but as you say, that’s a different kettle of fishing quotas ?
  3. Did you ever look up if you have a Neighbourhood Development Plan J? For my area the plan plan is here: http://www.planliskeard.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/LISKEARD-NDP-SEPTEMBER-2018.pdf flick to p34, policy EM7 Small Workshop Development in the Countryside for a good example of what you might consider lobbying for if your area is developing an NDP. Dreadful boring read but essential to understand and be engaged with local NDP if you have personal or business aspirations to build in a given area. Mr Pedantic here read and digested our local NDP (painful but necessary) prior to quoting the relevant sections to the Town Council at the planning meeting - unanimous support for our recent application they couldn’t really do otherwise since to do so would be to poop on their own NDP ?
  4. I was going to mention it last time you highlighted the inappropriate, ineffective, mis-targeted and hugely expensive current farm subsidy system J. Not sure if it was in this thread or a different one - but not really important. You do, i hope, recognise that the very best, perhaps only, way of achieving meaningful reform of farm subsidy is to LEAVE the EU? Ive posted it before but some may not have seen it (I think the data is getting old now. I looked at a local farm Sunday night and it only showed data up to 2009). Google “farmsubsidy.org”, select UK (or other as suits), go to the page search feature, enter the surname, business name or post code of any registered farm and you’ll see what subsidies they’ve had. Caused quite a stir stir in the pub when I told a local farmer what they’d had in “benefits.” They were outraged that I should know (and tell) such detail. Public money = public information Next time you hear a poor farmer complaining about how hard done by they are folks might like to ask them to explain how much money they got from the tax payer....
  5. In comparison to Scotland?? The same could be said for North Korea!! ???
  6. You’d still be in the EU though ?
  7. Dear valued customer, the scale of inconvenience imposed upon my leisure time by pissing around fixing your shit has finally become intolerable. For the sake of maximising my available recreational and leisure time I would propose the following changes to our previous business relationship: - whereas previously, I might have enjoyed a coffee, a chat and generally passing the time of day with you whilst padding out a 2hr job to make it look like a full days graft (a skill acquired over many years public utility employment) I will no longer engage in any conversation not directly related to task or payment. I don’t want to hear about your haemorrhoids, the new roof on your shed or your kids exam results. - I will require a full spec of your system prior to visiting so that I can ensure appropriate spares are available on arrival rather than “popping down the trade counter” which we all know actually means a 2hr liquid lunch. - I will transport myself around the site at no less than Olympic sprinter speed at all times. - I will use gaffer tape and resin to lash-up any leaks or vulnerabilities to speed my departure. - I will bang out 10 jobs a day and clear my diary for months in advance. I trust the aforementioned efficiency measures will meet with your approval as we move forward with our new customer focussed business development plan. I attach an updated schedule of fees which details the 20% uplift necessary to achieve a smooth transition. Best regards, Pump it & Dump
  8. Nasty! Hope it’s nothing worse than bruised face and ego. Been close myself a time or 2. Watching the the grain and staying focussed is an absolute must, not sure a face visor is the answer though. I use impact goggles but that’s more a case of protecting against a penetrating hydraulic wound if a pipe split rather than log impact.
  9. On the Ash topic... Job doesn’t even start til Weds but I’m sick of it already! Had an hour with the client’s neighbour today explaining the Justification for the Ash take down which straddles their boundary. A real headbanging experience!
  10. You twat! You’re in breach of contract now. That which what passed between us ⬆️ constitutes a contractual agreement! Can nobody stand by their word these days...? I despair at the state of humanity ?
  11. 64Gig 6s fit the bill? Was thinking about a new unit myself soon. If chance arises, may go Apple Store Tuesday and scope prices / trade in rates. Good nick, always been in a case, 1 honest previous owner, new dog forces reluctant sale.... ?
  12. That loss of payload could have greater implications than just loss of payload too! Hector will be sniffing around trying to deprive honest, hard working tradespersons of tax relief too - bastard! Beware vehicle classification of double-cab pick-ups and kombi vans for tax relief - TTR Barnes WWW.TTRBARNES.COM With the space and functionality to be loaded with tools and equipment during the week, but the ability to...
  13. Mad money for the high end PUs, but don’t forget, there are discounts with BASC, NFU, Mole Valley memberships. Cant remember what the %s are but it’ll run to several £k!
  14. Only trouble I had was with forward facing camera housing trapping moisture and tripping out all the features. It was eventually acknowledged as a type fault and remedied with a Toyota mod which included a heater element in the shroud. That and disappointing early onset underbody corrosion. Other than that, all was dandy.
  15. I'm not a Tory Mull! I voted Green last election.... But you already know that innit ?
  16. Anyone know of a hooky copy online anywhere?
  17. "Hangry" is, I believe, the correct phrase.... I was en route to Inkies for a fry up and he slowed me down. ? https://www.facebook.com/inkiessmokehousebbq/
  18. Just last night! A rare trip to Plymuff to have my wallet emptied by the wife and pup in a restaurant where the food was at best mediocre. Dangerous crossing the river! PS - I muted the sound to save Mrs J's blushes - the language was a bit rare! J
  19. Was going to mention, I wonder if it was a seasonal visitor or an aloof indigenous that almost killed us on a rare stretch of dual carriageway last night? I’ll see if dashcam got it later but finding a set of headlights facing you in lane 2 of dual carriageway at an awkward junction raised the blood pressure a couple of notches!
  20. ?? How did your planning situation pan out J? Have I missed any updates - what was that thread titled? The issue of increased seasonal visitors is rather more complex than just the roads. Isay “just” the roads but your concept of road upgrades is impractical and prohibitively expensive on many levels and even then it fails to recognise that it’s not “just” the roads. There is 1 hospital in Cornwall. The seasonal swell almost invariably results in Black alert status each summer so now it’s roads AND hospitals... Cost benefit analysis? Used to visit Umea really often. Swedish girlfriend back in the day. Loved it there. They already do! J - an incomer shouldn't mean that I am prohibited from pointing out what is an obvious flaw in the transport network. It doesn't mean you “can’t” J, but it does mean nobody will take a blind bit of notice ??? The road signs are only there for the visitors Marcus (a bit like rural NI), such trivia as road worthiness, speed restrictions, insurance, RFL etc are blithely ignored by the inherently aloof indigenous population.
  21. Now here we find ourselves on common ground big fella ?
  22. Come on Mark! He’s bullet proof - Uncle Phil loves him ??
  23. Haven’t this year mucker! Too much drama associated with Remoaner lettuces ballsing up currency and adding to the usual seasonal chaos caused by lack of capacity and crumbling, underinvested infrastructure ?? (on the QT - doing Ibiza in Oct though ??)
