Sorry to hijack thread. Have a question for Andy, why would you remove auto split trip, reason I am asking is we have a 600 that for some reason we have an issue as auto split sometimes works sometimes doesn’t after cutting.Ram will operate but not return, have to pull lever. Any advice? Cheers

Just looking to see what's about & came across it, we already have a rock splitter, but looking to buy a processor, pal has a tajfun which is an amazing bit of kit, he also has a Hakki pilki eagle which is also a tidy wee machine,at tentative stage just now.

Etesia mowers. Good choice or are there better options?

We have two Etesias one the Pro 51x & the other a 46 pro model, both are pretty good at picking up in the wet, we also have a trusty Rover which was purchased some time ago which is bullet proof, any local dealers to you for a demo? -
Have seen a Scag with twin wheels in action awesome piece of kit, was used to mow bank alongside an artificial ski slope, we purchased last year a ferris with Kawasaki engine, obliterated everything gorse, grass , cost all in including a service was just under £400 paid for itself in a couple of jobs.

Would recommend an Etesia if self propelled, pick up whether it be wet grass is phenomenal, the new ones have a mulching kit, which we use, only downside that the bigger ones are heavy machines, we also have a Viking roller which up until now has served us well, also an old Rover which is bullet proof. Spoilt for choice really, but based on our own experience would recommend. We have an Iseki SGR ride on for commercial work, great pick up & finish.

If turf recently laid wouldn't use a Ferris or anything like it, how are the soil conditions , drainage good? We run Etesias, Viking roller mower had to admit to being a bit sceptical about Viking but concede good striped finish & wet collection good & an old Rover 460 Procut which is bullet proof, any of these would do the job, pity you're not nearer ultimately don't try & cut all the grass in one go , possibly cut high & return a few days/week later to finish off cutting, probably know that but worth highlighting again as have seen so many try & cut in one passing.

We have a 2004 Iseki SGR22 only issue has been chute clogging up, the later SXG solved that problem with a bigger chute & no blower belt to change, not aware of any issues with them we run Etesia pedestrian mowers & the collection in wet is superb would imagine the ride on performance to be similar, all depends ultimately on what your budget is ?

Good advice re price per job as opposed to per hour, if you do a good job there should be no issues, too many fall in to trap of pricing per hour , do not disclose hourly rate or you will have client clock watching & querying , hourly rate should be based on overhead costs, fuel for machines, travel time, PL insurance & others need to be added provided this is to be main source of income, which will hopefully work out for the lad.

Took one out on demo last year, waiting for new one to arrive as ordered up, we run a pro51 but just too heavy for lawns.

Not sure about work aspect, good for a jolly though! Your mate should keep you right, depending on how long you are going for, would imagine you will need a permit for working over there .

Vancouver,Vancouver Island, Granville Island & Whistler, great places, never made Stanley Park which is supposed to be spectacular, drove by it on way up to Whistler.

Having seen pictures none that I mentioned would be suitable, a Scag or we used a John Deere with a Kawasaki engine can't remember the model but similar to Scag, how often are you going to cut it, these are factors that need to be considered before purchasing any equipment, maybe even an outfront similar to Kubota F1900?

Have had a couple of sites similar to the one you have described, early on we used a Rover which we still use to this day great machine, we also have an Etesia PRO51 which has the same capabilities but is heavy, last season we demo'd an Etesia PHTB46 Etesias for us are great for cutting & picking up wet grass the Rover runs them close, have tried Honda not good on wet grass, we are looking at a Viking VM655R with a view to buying but we have concerns over the reliability after hearing about some issues with drive, have heard that new Mountfield with roller is useful but up here in NE Scotland not aware of any dealer that does demo.

Jamie Viking are not built to withstand the rigours of commercial work, have heard there has been issues with drive etc, pick up in wet is supposed to be good. Etesia may be a better bet. Question should be in landscaping section, mods will transfer & you will get a better response. Hope this helps

Hope the rest of the running gear has been upgraded from standard bike, have a gsx1400 , one of the lads got his supercharged stunning accelaration but brakes & rest of running gear was naff.

We run a Honda , have done for a couple of years now, no lifting handle but a bit of ply will allow you to roll on or off with ease, Viking not really suited to professional user too many issues with drive, haven't tried a Kaaz but have also heard good reviews, Etesia have now added a rear roller attachment to the 46cm mower although pricey we have found the Etesia with its ability to pick up wet grass exceptional but a bit heavy, plenty of choice around but reliability will no doubt be the issue.

Unfortunately we have Gumtree & the likes who do not do checks, have never bought anything from there but would ask to see paperwork as proof of ownership if buying anything major, gutted for you guys all the same. Unfortunately this is society as we know it today where it seems those perpetrating the crimes know that if they do get caught a slap on the wrists is all that will come their way some deterrent.
