150 yards. Wanted to get in a quick as possible. Any slower and we would still be coming in.... Was a small 23ft vessel with a planeing hull, so could easily take it. Was a risk but one that was made as being the best. And with having to cross two of the major shipping lanes meant we was as little a nuisance as possible to all the big ships. Just had a snooze, will reply to your pm when I get a chance bud.
  3. I don't get all this climbing malarkey, just cut it at the bottom don't you??!
  4. I forgot to say. The other half has claimed the stamp on the envelope. She loves old jags so she is keep that. She was ready and waiting with the scissors before I had even opened it.
  5. Get some pics up off all the parts.

Call out today. 2pm, fishing vessel lost all drive to prop. Sitting on a sand bank at the time. Drifting into the S/w shipping lanes. And a whopping 26 mile out. We launched and took us 1hr to reach casualty, then took it under tow and brought it back, just got back in at 19.20. Turned out a 60 mile round trip. Could go in a straight line out under full steam of 27 knots, but towed back with a speed of 10knots, and this was pushing it a little bit. Pictures to follow.
  7. Stihl fs450 strimmer. Head not turning. When I went to remove the head the bolts holding it on where just too tight, didn't budge, but did break. So after a few minutes of swearing at it I looked at the head and sure enough the gears have gone inside, I don't know what the company that owns these cutters are doing as its the second one that has had this. So a new gearbox on this one and its good to go again.
  8. Just interested to know. Have you got a complete road closure for that job Paul??
  9. BOOM Well bang tidy. Thanks chris, loving it already.
  10. Why is it someone always has a camera at just the wrong times... Love her comments tho. "Obviously not professional........
  11. The decal turned up today. I have just got in, will put it on tomoz and get some pics up. Cheers chris. Nice one.
  12. True. This up looked about 60+, what's to say he hasn't been using a saw all his life? Too quick to jump in, people charge what there needs require. Except for repairs, that's a fixed hourly rate. If I had a trailer, and was on my own, I bet I could charge less than any pro on here. Only because I could and would quote that I would do the hedge in a week where a pro could do it in half that time as they would have the gear. Not that I'm going to as I like being in the workshop too much. Unless I'm grounding for another company. Then its up to them what they charge, I just drag brush.
  13. Very nice too. But the chipper is the wrong colour :001_tt2:
  14. Currently like a child at xmas, awaiting the arrival of some silky goodies, so soon joining the silky gang. Also of a bang tidy decal.

    Guess Who

Well said that man, Ive been there and it is very hard to get going, I'd say its even harder than a tree work business, the amount of running around you have to do is silly, chasing orders, chasing main dealers, and then the joy of stihl and husky on top. Keep going lad and IMO your doing a good job. Bet I could give it a go :lol: I also have seen this, funny as hell to watch them try and load and make ready. Give over rob. :001_rolleyes:

    Guess Who

Yeah ok. The maybe I will, but the spelling isn't important, so long as the postcode and number are on there. Oh and for those who are a little bit slow I won the silky. I won first prize as me and second prize as GTR. But I passed on the second prize as IMO it was the right thing to do. I just shared the comp on my GTR page so everyone else who is on there sees toms page.

:flute:You mean saw pod??? And I don't have a clue....
  19. Sounds like a blocked jet, turn the fuel tap off, remove fuel bowl and up inside the tube on carb is a flat head screw, carefull its brass so will break easy if your not carefull. Unscrew this and give it a clean, shouldn't need to pull carb off for this. Let us know if that works?
  20. This I agree with. If it says for spares or repair then buy it as spares and only bid what you think its worth to you. Anything more and people can have them. But set your restriction on spending about 20 quid lower than what you really want, we all know you get dragged into a bidding war on ebay.
  21. Will take those off your hands if you like.
  22. I did offer to send you up a tape of a busy city at night if you are having trouble sleeping.

After talking to one of the lads the dog was off its lead and chased a ball thrown by the owner. Wind blew ball over the edge and dog followed. Please remember to keep dogs on a lead when going near a cliff. Was a cocker spanuel.

Today's call out. Pager went off at 11.53 today. I was not able to attend this one as I was stuck at work with no way of getting there. Reports of a pet dog going over the cliff at Dover. Lifeboat dispatched as owner was threatening to climb down the cliff themselves. The animal was found at the bottom of the cliff with no sign of life. Recovered and returned to station and given back to awaiting owner.
  25. Will have the calendar you are leaving behind.
