  1. Well the problem was a 6 foot fence and a 5 foot old women. We would just see these pair of hands then top of head pop over fence. She was one of those people who don't trust any contractor. She came round to take the details off the van for her records..... She moand about the sawdust, the noise. Everything she could she did. Now I don't blame people for not trusting contractors if they have been burnt in the past but to come into an exclusion zone without any warning like she did she was going to get hurt.... Anyway back to op, maybe diverse into car valeting.
  2. Reminds me of a job a short while ago when the neighbour came out and stood under the tree just as we started to lower a limb, didn't see the girl due to the fence. I nearly had a heart attack when I heard her moaning about all the white stuff on her lawn....
  3. I had better grind those welding marks that go all around the front door pillars and underneath then.
  4. Offer a car valet service at a reasonable price, drop a leaflet brought there door!!!! Have to say I have yet to encounter this problem. We have used the blower before to blow dust off any cars.
  5. In a way I have to agree with this. I've seen many modifications done to cars by there owners that IMO make the car dangerous. Like cutting springs to lower the car. Badly fitting brakes. Engine mods that are stupid. It seems that any major modification would mean the car would have to be tested to ensure it is still roadworthy. Would put a lot of bodgers off doing work. Don't forget all cars have to go through various va tests to make sur whey comply with the law and are safe for people to drive.

    Aldi saw

Zzr no it's not legal for private work but I'm pointing out as are some that it would be nice to see some ppe sold alongside the saw, even if it's a bit of a token gesture so at least people can protect themselves if they wish. I'm sure after the people everyone reads about and posts on here wish they had some before they hurt themselves but that's all hindsight......
  7. I have a problem developing on my discovery 1, was driving and the diff lock light was flickering on the dash. Lever is ok, was doing about 30mph, have been using it shortly to get in and out of a gateway but that's it. I can feel it engaging when the light flickers, a bit worried its going to come on and stay on, is there a way if disengaging it at the axle?

    Aldi saw

My thoughts exactly. But then should the staff have a bit of training so if a question is asked they have the answer......... It's a big afterthought to sell these tools without doing anything, but then they are a big store and you would get the same response from b and q, but then they also sell the ppe to go with the tools they sell.
  9. That annoys me. A few other choice words but not allowed. Ehard many a story of people pulling up alongside and just watching you do othe etchings looking to long at the trailer. Mate broke down on a m way and a van pulled up behind and they sat there watching, waiting for the moment he turned his back so they could have a go at the chipper on the back. Got to admit it does take some nuts to actually try something like this.

    Aldi saw

I just posted on there Facebook page asking about them selling ppe and I had a comment from someone asking what ppe was. I kid you not.

I can see why top handles are an exception due to the operation of one handed. Two handed the chain brake goes one when saw kicks back. And it's knowing what might cause a kickback to happen, joe public wouldn't know compression to tension cutting at all. Plus cutting one handed means the other hand is holding the log, and as its been said there are no ppe on sale with this saw so using normal gloves won't end well. Maybe an email to aldi to ask if they are willing to sell ppe alongside the chainsaw.

    Aldi saw

I've had a gardentec one for three years now, brought it from netto when they where around, cost me 50 quid. It's done fencing, my own logging, felling, it's been shoved into hedgerows to reduce them, I've hit dirt with it ( by accident ) and it's still gong strong, the choke pull broke but soon replaced it with something else. Starts perfect every time, stops, cuts revs good. I've looked after it just like my stihl. So with these breaking down is this down to the saw or the people who buy them? If joe public buys one and they read the manual but know nothing of good maintance then yes it would break down on them. Again just my opinion on it. But I do see where you. Are coming from, but then if machines never broke down you would be out of a job.

I agree with you there gardenkit. If they are going to sell them at least have the common decency to have someone who can explain safe operation of it.

Or open my bottle of beer........ Was listening to the radio a while back and they done a survey on men and there toys and the chainsaw was the ultimate mans toy to have, even though 90% said they where scared of them.....

It's a toss up really. Might do might not. Still worth a looksie. Depends on the Build quality of the saw. I've looked into one like it a while back and o brought it, turns out when I stripped it the engine, chain brake, bar tensioner, and carb was almost identical to a stihl 260, the carb was the same exept no name on it. The chain break handle was only bolted to the brake on one side and didn't like that at all as I doubt it would have put up with a stress test.

I'm gong to have a look. Might be ok for the rough stuff, timber I won't put a stihl or husky into.

    Too hot

Saw the funniest thing earlier. Went down the local shop for something to do and get a few sweets for work tomoz, (can't beat a good bag of haribo for grass cutting) and a boy racer pulled up to talk to a few girls hanging around. He pulled away showing off wheel spinning when I noticed a big oil patch where he was sitting, it was a black corsa with nice shiny alloys and a loud exhaust. He went up road turned round and came hurtling back again, just as he got past the shop his engine went bang and bits of it spread themselves accross the road. Suffice to say I joined the girls in great laughter and walked away shaking my head. Should have spent his money on maintainance than shiny things......

    Too hot

Nope definatly crab fishing. Been watching deadliest catch lately and the amount of money they make out there is stupid. Plus it's nice and cold.
