  2. The 2.5td is a good puller. The 3.0ltr is just a thirsty engine IMO.
  3. Urn. No. Sorry its not. Cheap Chinese is just that, and no matter how similar it may look to a stihl or husky its not.
  4. Oh and Kawasaki also make a very good strimmer. But not for long.
  5. That they would. It's a list to run through. The fuel tank vent may have a small blockage restricting the flow. Fuel pipe may also be the same thing. For a start its a good rough list. So after not knowing the make and model of the saw it could b anything. Just trying to help. If the make is given it could be a common problem easily fixed, but it could also be a very cheap saw that is not worth the effort of checking.
  6. Depends on budget and what you really want. Stihl fs range are good. Can also get most models in either twin horn or single handle options. Then there is the attachment on the front. The bigger the wire the tooughter in will be. But if doing rough banks you may need the blade rather than the wire. I don't personally like the twin horn handles. I like the single handle. Easier for me to use.

  8. Ok a small list of checks. Breather clear. Fuel pipes good. Fuel filter clean and clear. Carb clean. Compression when hot checked. Work through and let us know. Chances are if its been sat all winter there is crap in it somewhere. Was fuel left in it? Is the air filter clean. If its been sat over winter without being started I would start with a good strip and clean of the carb. Then do a comp test, easy to do and takes seconds. Also when it refuses to start loosen the fuel cap and try again.

  10. Sorry bud but in the RNLI mechanics course the hammer is actually in the manual as the most usefull tool in the box. :lol: Seriously it is.

    For those arbtalk era in the Dover areas. There is a boot fair thing going on in capel le ferne on Saturday the 25th. It's for raising money for the lifeboat. Plenty of stuff going on and entertainment in the evening. At the lighthouse pub. Also get to see stormy stan. Pics to follow.
  13. IMO there is no point in changing the sprocket on a ground saw. It's too small and only used for carving. Just my opinion. Changing the clutch would be a good idea. The springs only retain the clutch pieces and allow them to travel outwards on acceleration and back in on deceleration. They don't hold the parts in line sideways. Get it in a vice and give it a good wiggle. Not the proper way I know but will give an indication if the boss is gone.

  15. Can I ask for curiosity what sprocket type you have on the saw? If its out of round could it be catching on the worm gear drive arm??? Knocking in and out of it. Also check if the big washer is flat and not bent. The clutch is working as it should.
  16. The needle bearing failure will cause a loss on the drum, smashing the clutch and anything behind the clutch. Was a thread a while ago with an ms026 that done exactly that. Div-h saw done it. The scoring on the crank would be caused by the drum rattling around it. Would have to destroy the round big washer behind the clutch before getting to the crank seals. Oh and work through the worm drive aswell. A needle bearing failur wouldn't mean it would damage the crank into the crank case but would destroy a lot before it gets there. No play should be on the bearing with the drum on. Of course it could be a worn drum or crank other than the needle bearing itself. These are normally visual that they have gone.

  20. That's a good reading there. A drop in pressure is not uncommon and I'm sure a drop of .5 is fine over time.
  21. Ok. Will get them tomoz. I've worked on the mower last year when it would try and take off when starting. Had to play with it for a while to sort it out. Was running like a dream. But now no spark. Tried plug, there is a small jump there, enough for me to let go of the ht lead quick. But not enough to give a good visible spark, so new coil is the way to go.
  22. :lol: I'm not at that stage YET. But did pick up a leaf blower on way home. Also got an ms180 to look at. And got 4 mowers to come. Got home, sat down, and the phone went mental. Must be nearly Friday. Oh and an old Hayter style mower that needs a new Briggs and Stratton 7hp coil. Barrie.......
