    Are you sure it's the track motor that's at fault? Could be worth checking the rollers are ok. The track pins can get stiff or seize if it's been standing for any time. Both these problems can cause the machine to crab. Just a thought before you start stripping down the motors.

    I find this one is pretty good. Good for topiary too as long as you want it to look like a cut hedge.

    I've been using a Spot Gen 3 when working with Tilhill. Use it to check in with the office / home. It also has a "send assistance" button for non emergency breakdowns etc and also an "SOS" button that transmits your location to the emergency services.

    Search the Grammer and/or Kab websites for their seats. Alternatively look at a Valtra seat and fit one.

    I had a 1000 gallon steel tank that was past its best. Cut the top off, burnt air holes about 4" big all around the sides, fixed it to a long chain on a tow hook on a 13 tonne digger with a grapple and trundled around a 200 acre SNH site in Aberdeenshire clearing gorse from a grassland SSSI. Worked a treat.

    You can fit it to a reverse drive Valtra and use it to put trees back up.

    We had a big Aarrow that did all the heating and hot water for 13 years in a 4 bed house in N Scotland. Couldn't fault it. Lit it in October and it went out in April - unless we were away for more than 2 days.

    I've had Ahwi for years. Can't really fault them. The tool mounting is simple and the tools don't cost a fortune to replace. A few years back Fecon and Ahwi worked together in the States and then went their separate ways again. Paul Vidgen knows his stuff for spares and advice on anything Ahwi. The only real downside I've come across with Ahwi mulchers is the teeth are all in line on a paddle type rotor which will seriously sap power if you're working in soft ground. Fecon mulchers...? don't really know - how many have you seen here?

    Beware the "nearly home time" scenario. You know the one - "it looked ok"... Usually happens around 3.30 on a Friday. I had a site where you had to walk every route first to be sure you'd get across.

    £500 / week? You'll be lucky to get a wheelbarrow for that!

    I've no idea what the voltage is but it supplies the houses at Syre. If I remember right it comes from a substation at Altnaharra.

    There's a power line running up the road from Altnaharra to Syre. There is a house and steading at Dalharrold which I would imagine had power at some point - the house may still be connected I don't Know - it's been a while since I was there.

    I cleared the forest roads there a few years ago - interesting place. Patrick Sellar cleared the whole area a while before I got there.... The house sites are still there. If you come from the south (most people do) the entrance is up at Syre village but if you're feeling brave and river's not in spate there is a ford down near Dalharrold.

    In Scotland it's filtered out from the sewers by a secret method, bottled up and called Tennants.
