I mentioned this low draught problem earlier in the thread, as the top couple of feet of stack has to be easily removable and stowable it tends to be single skinned with a simple terminating cover, so only the bottom 4 ft can be a well insulated Poujoulat twin wall. The only way round the low draught problem I can see would be a simple induced draught arrangement using a small 12V centrifugal fan of a couple of Watts in an ejector configuration. In practice we avoided burning wood near residential areas

One of the more bullish brexiteers here pointed out to me that there was a lot of inward investment from abroad, I imagine a lot of that is in housing thus increasing the demand and what is the elasticity of demand for property? I can't see right to roam getting far as from personal experience other than in the popular walking areas PROWs are getting used less and currently under threat from wealthy householders diverting or closing them largely unopposed ( I do not object to paths being diverted away from houses in general but there should be a consideration for the public).

When the boss first bought the Dosko it didn't have a clutch for the cutting wheel so moving it about was a bit disconcerting, I never risked putting it on the truck for fear of graunching the aluminium body. Much later he had the magnetic clutch fitted which made it a lot more civilised.

Yup Isabella has one then, although it is plumbed for the propane boiler that's never used but the engine coolant does heat it.

Get a CO alarm whatever you burn Propane leaks are a big danger in a boat as it initially stays at the bottom and then deflagrates when it reaches a flame. Also remember to remove the stack before low bridges I wonder if it is the short chimney on the Morso Squirrel that makes it difficult to burn wood as cleanly as my s11 at home. As keeping a fire in is essential on the boat in winter it runs mostly on smokeless coal

I'm sure your quote would have been reasonable but given the distance you would have needed to travel it may well have not been competitive, to say another quote would be fairer one could infer you were not going to be fair about something.

How hard are you doing the screw top? When you replace it with a new plug ask for the NGK equivalent with a solid top.

Are you sure the screw on piece at the top of the plug is not retained on the spring in the cap and you just need a new plug and screw top?

Ash seems to attract boring insects very soon after felling, more so than any other timber in my log pile, and I suppose with that goes quick entry for saprophytic fungi that weaken it.

A teflon coated manager caused one of our subbies to do something he shouldn't have, because the subby failed to indicate when he joined a dual carriageway the copper pulled him. Then he realised there was more than one contravention and started seeing what else the lad could be charged with. An interesting one was driving with a trailer with defective brakes, there was nothing wrong with the brakes but the subby had failed to connect the breakaway cable (as he was only intending to drive to the next layby a few hundred yards further on). He then decided to go for the company with the O licence requirement (we had one but obviously not displayed in the window of the transit). I took the unladen trailer to the council weighbridge, photographed it and had the manager sign the weigh ticket with all the trailer details. It went to court and our barrister submitted the proof and the case against the company was dismissed, the book was thrown at the subby and I never saw him again.

I don't mean to cause offence but do have a bit of experience of having police and mot people not knowing the rules simply because they were not checking the correct bit of legislation, the policeman insisted on pursuing a prosecution for not having an O licence when pulling a trailer and transit combo over 3.5 tonnes despite my providing proof the trailer was less than 1020kg and exempted.

The knotters haven't changed but I didn't see what those little rubber feet going up and down were dooing. What dry matter in those bales? Weight? and how much plastic per bale cost?

What's that with the knotters at 4:30, does it do multiple binds within the pack? Last baler I used was a New Holland 276 around 1976
