  1. There is lots of potential fire wood where I live ( mostly felled ash ) l with easy access for me but , South Downs National Park want it all left as habitat . As you say the OP needs to get permission first .

    Ceder does indeed burn fine , I have burnt a whole Atlas blue ceder . I also like Leylandii , excellent fire wood . I thought about doing the Balsa thing but thought , no but , alas you did it 😀

    Its A hardwood , being a deciduous tree .

    I think its good . Different species my vary a bit . The key is get it split and in the log store as soon as . Plenty of air but covered from rain . It absorbs wet like blotting paper if you don't . Skyhuck ( a member on here ) boiled his central heating with poplar .

  10. I thought it was Goat willow or one of the Poplars However ....If you dry it out properly and keep it dry it will burn .
