  1. A friend of mine went out last week with much the same brief as you and picked up a Husky, he had a budget of a couple of hundred quid. He had a 'Ferm Florin' whatever the hell that is [i broke it starting it last weekend!] - it was green - which his dad had free with a splitter... I'll find out which Husky he went for in the end.... [means nothing to me, I'm a Stihl man...!]
  2. I'm going to have to give that a whizz... sounds racy....
  3. Like James said, push it away from you and give it a gentle tug back and it will set straight away if you do drop, particularly if it's a nice 'fluffy' 13mm rope, only takes a second to do, keeps it out the way too.
  4. That's brilliant, like that very much! Particularly like what you've done with the tail lights....!
  5. Have it as a 'perk' with my bank account... I say perk, more 'justification for exorbitant monthly fee'.... Have used them a couple of times, always been OK, sometimes response times can be a bit unusual if you're out in the sticks and they send a local garage, and I've always found the whole relay experience to be quite traumatic! Thought this was going to be another AAAC bunfight at first Jon!
  6. Spreading the risk Rupe... if you have 10 squads turning over £100k per month, and 1 squad crashes the van on the way home and all end up of work for a month, you lose 10%. If you're one lone squad turning over £10k and crash the van you lose 100% of your turnover. If everyone's making some profit most of the time, there should be enough in the big firm to carry it through the times when they're short handed. Of course, the flip side is when they've got more labour than work, all that buffer gets swallowed up just paying the wages. It's a choice we make, all businesses are different, there's not realy a right or wrong way. I would agree though that spending 5% on advertising wouldn't be my preference. I reckon you'd be better off spending that 5% on charity work and getting free coverage in the local press instead.
  7. Presumably if the permission has been granted it's just a case of searching for the approval on the council's website and reading the conditions.... soon find out whether he's pulling your leg or otherwise...
  8. Likewise, I was shrieking watching it... I let my little boy watch some of it this evening [he likes people falling over!] and he was in bits too...
  9. My god dude, you're really living it! That's one boxset which my wife refuses to tick off my christmas list... dunno why.... ! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oawspa5EVzs]mad max 1 and 2 ford falcon v8 interceptor scenes - YouTube[/ame]
  10. Wasn't that a Falcon....? Amazing car.... Loved the first 2 films...
  11. Do we know how this went yet? If he's anything like me [probably not, I'm a big girl's blouse] he'll be in the bath now before going to bed....!
  12. If your LA are imposing conditions on applications which fall outside the extent of their authority you should take it up with your MP. Quite often LA staff don't really know what they're doing, nor where their powers or responsibilities end, so will make recommendations or impose restrictions in good faith which actually they are not entitled to do. If you can't get any sense out of the appropriate department, write to your MP. If [when!] I'm complaining about yet another LA travesty I email and CC my MP anyway. And the newsdesk at the local paper...! But then I have become a bit of a moaning old git... next on my agenda for a case of 'WTF?!?!' is the letter back from school with a permission slip which had to be signed so that my 6 year old could wear his goggles for swimming. They actually sent us instructions on how to wear swimming googles FFS.....! So don't be surprised if LA's genuinely believe it's law to be AA members..... they can be MONUMENTALLY half soaked....!
  13. Quite right Pete.. the proper Eleanor has a stock interior, but for the superfast button and rev counter...
  14. Or you could have one of the originals from the film.... http://www.coys.co.uk/auction.php?itemID=1326&auctionID=19
  15. Haha! There's some tree surgery in this one! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsamwOs2slI&feature=related]Extreme Idiots Compilation - YouTube[/ame]
  16. Blimey, how bizzarre!... After watching that one I found this one..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SXLffvBpTY&NR=1&feature=endscreen]Extreme Idiots Compilation 2 - YouTube[/ame] I actually nearly died laughing.....
  17. My wife never said you called....
  18. Rimmers have been around for YEARS. Well established and very experienced, I'd go for them. Give me them over **itpart any day...
  19. You're only as old as the woman you feel or something or other.... Anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it. It's highly likely you'll struggle to fill a week initially but get a few things on the go and go for it.... why the hell not? The whole global economy is in a bit of a pickle but in reality there's never been a better time to start a business. While there are contractions in some areas, there is still a general underlying feeling that the only way is up and those with some pioneering spirit will be the ones to get the world moving again, not to mention do well out of it. Think positive, throw yourself into it and don't let anyone tell you you can't or shouldn't do it. You just might need to be a bit leftfield in your business model to make it work, but don't let that put you off. Good luck!
  20. Bugger dude, that's crap! I had a migraine similar come on only once while I was hedgetrimming, all of a sudden all the vision in my left eye went west, like you say, swimming pool without goggles, and my peripheral vision went in that side completely, which was the weirdest of all.... was strange and genuinely scary, I was trimming in the middle of nowhere and this was before the days of mobile phones... fortunately it came back fairly quickly but knowing how that put the fear of god into me I really feel for you buddy! Hope everything is OK soon and this doesn't take the shine off the impending arrival...
  21. Where are you Chaff..? Midshire Radiators in Ludlow are good for Shropshire / West Mids...
  22. Well done Pete! You and I should start a breakfast club for 'Managing Directors'...! I like the name, appropriate, and personally reminds me of the Roots supercharger, one of my favourite things....
  23. +1 Rob... I just missed out by months and have put it off for over 14 years....
  24. Think I follow Geoff, although to be honest it really is that small I don't think there will be any reall hinge issues. Neil....I'll leave the swinging round graveyards to you...!
  25. Jesus Drew, rather you than me buddy! Nice views though!
