  1. Generally 8.30 to 5.30 in day job, but some days can be 5am starts & 10pm finishes depending on where we're working, then 8 till 11 ish in the evenings on 'other jobs' [not counting 3 hours housework & sorting kids while wife's at work!], one full day every other weekend, sometimes more... so, er, usually about 65 hours a week. But that's mostly stuck in front of a PC. And I'm still f*in broke....
  2. A company employing anyone under 18 [even on a workie basis] should be able to get you insured in the same way as anyone else on their existing policy. We have a written specific YPP running alongside our main H&S policy which covers what 13 [i think] to 17 year olds can and can't do, working hours etc. and so long as we comply with this, anyone working for us under 18 is covered as an employee in the same way everyone else is. If the placement has been arranged through a school or college they will already have checked the employers EL. If it's an informal arrangement with someone you know then you're best off getting a parent to request a copy of their policy schedule and if concerned, phone the insurer. That said, if they are a company they should have PL anyway which, if you're not 'working for them' per se, I presume you would be covered by anyway...
  3. That's the word I was looking for!!
  4. I know..... I have a bit of a thing for them.... don't run it as an every day car but it gets a lot of use... but you're right, seriously thirsty.... I was using it every day a while ago and I put 400 quid in it in 3 days.... My first V8 was a 1993 Range Rover, then I had a 1959 Series 2 with a 3.5, and now a 3.9 Disco.... that bloody noise.... I can't help it.... to hell with the cost!
  5. Spud will tell you the definitive, but what about a replacement thread insert...? Tappex - Insert technology for plastics, composites and metal alloys
  6. oooohh.... Replaces the dissy on V8's.... Main Page - Autosport Labs or MegaSquirt - Electronic Fuel Injection Computer by Bowling and Grippo ©2010 [which is more specific to why I like it...] Makes them much better in water... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9WCgy-3bqo]landrover v8 90 wading megasquirt - YouTube[/ame]
  7. Those MM ones are very cheap, in the same 'style' as the Safari Snorkel [which is twice the price]. Only real difference is the fixed head on these, they can't be rotated or swapped for a cyclone, not that I would imagine that's problem for 99.99% of people who use them.... They seem a good deal to me, I will probably end up sticking one on the Disco.... along with a Mega-Jolt igition system.... yum yum....
  8. Climbing any rope is going to be harder than simply scrabbling up a tree. I believe the general concensus is that single rope using mechanical ascenders on hands and feet is the easiest way to get up a rope though.... I've doubled rope though so I can't vouch for that...!
  9. Ha! Cheers Geoff! It makes a change to be on the other end of it.... I'm usually the b****rd mercilessly destroying someone else...! Still curious though as to how 'Black Match' made it onto Steve's list of approved adverts alongside the likes of Capel Manor, Arbinsure, Treestuff etc....! Did they approach AT to buy ad space, reckoning that tree surgeons would be right up for a bit of delicious booty....? Or did Steve approach them... preferential rates for members maybe..??... Come on Steve... it's time sign the 'fession now mate...!
  10. I think it's less to do with 'modern' barber's chairs and more to do with having a cut throat shave, feet up head back.... should probably be called a dentist's chair these days!
  11. How do I apply to become a mod...? I reckon the ArbTalk Christmas party must be immense....
  12. Oh I see! All in it together are you?! Obviously all you mods benefit from whatever BlackMatch.com contributes to the ArbTalk fighting fund.... Shake dat ting Andy...
  13. I found ArbTalk through a banner ad on Ebony Dating . com.....
  14. And you can cut that out as well... We all know that you take the money for advertising at the top of the page and by extension must personally approve every ad .... so come on, what perks does 'ebony dating' offer you that 'cheap viagra online' doesn't...
  15. 'Yes doc, looks just like this one, hold on, let me undo my trousers and show you....'
  16. Seems to have gone back to Ted's bondage harness now... normal service has been resumed....
  17. Only a Aussie man can make you feel like a woman ....... A plane passed through a severe storm. The turbulence was awful, and Things went from bad to worse when one wing was struck by lightning. One woman lost it completely. She stood up in the front of the plane and screamed, 'I'm too young to die,' she cried. Then she yelled, 'If I'm going to die, I want my last minutes on earth to be memorable! Is there anyone on this plane who can make me feel like a WOMAN?' For a moment, there was silence. Everyone stared at the desperate woman in the front of the plane. Then the man from Australia stood up in the rear of the plane. He was handsome, tall, well built, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Slowly, he started to walk up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt as he went, one button at a time. No one moved. He removed his shirt. Muscles rippled across his chest. She gasped... Then, he spoke... 'Iron this -- and then get me a beer.'
  18. Shawandah had things in places women shouldn't have things like that in places like those....
  19. Bro... surely there's no one 'more man' here than the guy who gets ad banners for ebony dating on his ArbTalk....

Bit of a piece of string question... I use the cheapish Stihl trousers and some bombproof Stihl boots [quite old now, have like tractor tyre treads on the bottom...] I like the idea of StretchAirs etc but to be honest, they'd get trashed on the ground and I have a habit of sticking my gaffs through them when I'm climbing, so the cheaper the better for me! The trousers aren't all round protection which keeps them a bit lighter & cooler for climbing. Boots wise you need to find some which fit your feet, they're like any other shoe in that respect... I can't comment on which current ones are any good because I've had the same pair for years and they refuse to die!
  21. Blimey! I can honestly say, hand on heart, that 'ebony' has never been one of my searches, in the nicest possible way it's 'not my thing' I vaguely recall seeing an unusual piece of advertising a while back but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.... I DEFINITELY remember Steve telling me it was something to do with the website hosting though!!! HONEST GUV! Anyway, gotta dash, going out for a date with Shawandah in a few minutes, got to get my game on....
  22. Haha, can't pin that one on me! If it was I'd be swamped in ads for Jaguar and BMW....! Oh... and roof windows....
  23. OK... I have to ask.... Where the hell did this come from...?! Is there something you want to tell us Steve...? And can you update my advertising preferences so I get more if this stuff... certainly more interesting that boring old tree surgery related ads ....
  24. If you have the gear and want to come and 'have a go' you're welcome to come out to me for a day on a weekend, sure I can find a few nice trees to have a play in. I'm the other side of Kiddy at Tenbury..... cheers, Simon
