  1. No worries
  2. Welshpool's not far.... If you want to come over to have a go let me know and we can arrange something....
  3. Where in mid-Wales are you, when you're not in Cornwall....? I would class us myself 'not far' from mid Wales.... http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/53057-rec-climb-opportunities-equipment-lending-beginners.html
  4. :post::lol: Another vote for the 241. Proper pro saw, nice and light, plenty of power....
  5. .....
  6. Loads of threads on here about this but you'll have to search for individual items. Harness wise, depending on build Petzl Sequioa, Treemotion and Kolibri seem the most popular. Xtc or gecko 13mm rope. Blue tongue, tachyon or imori for something a bit more fancy. Hitch climber & OP eye to eye for your friction hitch, plus a couple of ultra o carabiners, or a spider jack or zigzag if you want mechanical. Make yourself up a side strop (that in itself can become an all consuming hobby!) Spikes, distels come up again and again.... You'll want a cambium / friction saver. I have a multi saver and pulley saver. I think I prefer the multisaver in all honesty, although there is now the fimblsaver as well which is probably the answer. A pantin is handy for when you realise it's harder than the pros make it look. Dipped gloves to help you grip the rope, petzl vertex helmet. One of the throw line/bag/cube kits, a rope bag.... It's endless....! Of course, then you'll want to try SRT.....
  7. I have twisted Ali Bashlins, they're very nice, might invest in some Velcro tops for them as everyone raves about them so much.
  8. This is one I've just designed for my boss, space for 2 cars, pit in the middle bay and workshop space at 1 end, 7.3 x 9.3 overall footprint.... once it's up I'm wheeling my Disco in to do the clutch. Slab has been powerfloated today!
  9. I presume that's what he means Al, chest harness, lanyard over shoulder etc..... I don't like the lanyard trick particularly although it does work. How would you connect to the HH to drag it up with you? I do find that a bit of a bind with the wrench, although one advantage of the very short and stiff bridge on my Treehopper harness, and the frog setup, is that it will get nudged along by that alone.....
  10. Cold up there this morning Rob!
  11. I use these guys.... Centremaps Live - Buy & Download Maps Online but you'd still need to survey and plot info on yourself with a basic CAD package...
  12. LOVE pak choi, have to try that
  13. Looks good dude.... Almost as good as a wrench.... In all seriousness, you seem to be getting to grips with it nicely. Are you on a left foot pantin...?
  14. I start with good intentions but our erratic watering programme generally sees my attempts wither very quickly.... THIS YEAR it will be different! Oh, and mostly just packets but some stuff is foraged.....
  15. That was going to be my next guess, Luxembourg....
  16. Is it a Garand....?
  17. I reckon that over the next couple of days a ZigZag thread will go stratospheric.....
  18. Good grief, have we got another Tony on downers here....? Perhaps we're just not intelligent enough for the debate you're trying to encourage dwom.... We just want to look at pictures of guns here......
  19. That's a bit of a half arsed argument, on the basis that pressed OSR makes a good home grown substitute to olive oil, thus having potential for reducing the production carbon footprint / food miles / dead moths etc.....
  20. Switch it off at the wall..... See if that releases the lock. Failing that, as Jon says, put your foot through it. Will make you feel a whole lot better briefly..... We just got a new washing machine after my wife put my jeans in with my wallet in the pocket.....
  21. If you have done the NPTC CS30 &31 assessments and have a card / certificate then you can carry on, Lantra is the course provider and the nptc assessment can be done on the back of that course. A 30 & 31 qualification is a pre-requisite of further courses, like a foundation. Book in for the assessments and go from there, the course content is basically the same as far as I know....
  22. I know exactly what you mean, so much out there to see and all so many of us do is come up with excuses why we never get to see them in the flesh. I really need to start doing something about that!!
  23. Frustrating thing is all he wants to do is pay on the bloody ipad.... so yes, I can be your dad  Cheers Dee, I'll keep on down this path for now then..
  24. Anyone made a climbing wall....? My little boy and his friend have just started out at an indoor wall and I thought I'd make one at home for them to practice on, strictly belayed top rope stuff obviously..... I have a nice south facing wall at the side of the house, probably 3m x 5m which will be ideal, no windows etc. Holds are easy, going to pick up a few sets of screw on holds and plug and screw them to the bricks, but the top rope anchor concerns me..... I'm thinking my best bet is to through bolt a pair of stainless anchors with integral rings onto the oak wall plate and fix some galv straps back in the loft. I've only managed to find one place online to buy the anchors.... Anyone recommend anywhere....? Going to screw a few onto the ascent as well so that I can lead climb to install the belay top rope as well. Presumably little rawl bolts would be the best solution for this.... Thoughts, suggestions etc appreciated, and photos of your own walls too Cheers Simon
  25. I had that with tapatalk as well.... Thought I was going mad...! To be honest I never really used tapatalk, posted a few pictures with it and it was useful for the notifications..... Will probably buy the new one solely because of the introductory offer!
