  1. Thanks Kevin I used the isc fixe in the mk1. Was fractionally narrower but the edges if the plates were sharper and old mill rightly suggested more likely to rub.... I have a screw gate Boa in my box somewhere, will try that. Do like the oval ones though I really like this fixed plate pulley set up over the hitch climber in the wrench. These sling based tethers are so cheap and easy to make and rock hard
  2. Nice idea! Very smart
  3. The mark 2 Tether is made from a rock empire 1.3cm x 31cm dyneema sling, wrapped with some tape and 2 layers of shrink. The OP sets instantly on the edelrid static, far better than the beeline. Sexy black Pinto should be more gentle on the hitch cord but I'm going to keep my eye out for a wider oval crab. Anyone know of one? The rock-o is slightly wider than the dmm oval. Looking forward to trying it proper!
  4. Very neat
  5. Offer's open if you're ever over this way It would be a shame if I ended up sent down for torching the offices of a no win no fee solicitors. While everyone was still in there....
  6. Except the only way to move it is to re-tie it.... Besides, not very 'bling' is it... :001_rolleyes:
  7. Now you mention it!
  8. Yes, saves tying an alpine butterfly to clip the crab into, or cross loading it by just clipping it back into the line itself.
  9. That's exactly the look I was going for The ring won't live on it all the time, will be in the way most of the time, but on the odd occasion when I want to use it a bit longer for work positioning it will be handier than taking my second line up....
  10. Bit of a resurrect but it's nice to keep a good thread going.... My new one.... 5m of 10mm OP, 8mm Sirius into a vt, pinto and rock-o and Sirius prusik loop with ISC anchorage ring, all tied and hanging on a pirate. Oh to be able to splice!
  11. If I can ever stop spending all my spare time cocking around with stuff which already exists!
  12. I reckon it will look the shizzle! shame I can't get a black wrench....
  13. NATO black pinto waiting on my desk for me this morning, seriously cool, along with a green 8mm OP e2e, both for my wrench set up. Also a couple of m of Sirius to knock up some prusik loops, will attach one to an anchor ring on my lanyard, and some gaff guards. What will next week bring I wonder.....
  14. If I was starting from scratch now I'd probably settle on: Multisaver Hitch climber pulley Small pulley for strop 2x oval crabs, 4x d crabs 5 or 6m strop rope 35 or 45m rope Couple of eye to eye cords (1 each for climbing hitch and strop) Throwline / bag / cube Rope bag Kit bag That'll give you enough gear for a low friction climbing line and lanyard and won't break the bank. Much.
  15. I drive a range rover Now. Where's my Cuban...
  16. That's not eggs with eggs is it? I thought prado was the disco equivalent, and they're hateful camels of things. Amazon toes up to the range rover, and I know which i'd rather have...!
  17. So which one have you ordered....?
  18. Sorry, I missed this one Justin. Is there not an 'overhead works' sign? Think I saw a tree surgery one, that would do it....
  19. That's where it comes down to the nitty gritty. Strictly speaking, training differs from assessment and if you have done the course but not the assessment (and hence have no tickets) you could still argue that you have been formally trained. All it needs is the trainer to stand up in court and say as much. You could also go so far as paying for your own training from a qualified person, working to industry standard best practice without having anything to do with city & guilds. Tickets are simply a quick way to check what training has been undertaken rather than a legal requirement. All that aside, they have been accepted as the industry standard and, cost aside which I think is utterly ludicrous frankly, I like the current system the main.
  20. I can't recall all the details but I don't think that he was charged and convicted of 'not having any tickets'. Wasn't he simply working dangerously and could not evidence having had any formal training....? From what I remember, an NPTC card in his wallet wouldn't have gained him any leniency!
  21. Try KeepVid: Download and save any video from Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, iFilm and more! Dirty old man!
  22. Who is she? Google 'rip videos from YouTube' and see what comes up. Quite often these things are a bit tricky to use though....
  23. But more expensive to fix when they go wrong...... And not as nice to drive. And more expensive to buy. Nor as good in the dirt. So everything is relative....
  24. I'm not sure I'd spend the money on the assessment if I was in your position. What are you going to do if you fail.... Do the course again? Of course not, just do the training, that's the important bit. Buy another day's training if you feel you need it instead of the assessment, would be more useful....
  25. Oh, and to answer your question, yes, you are safe, but making it hard for yourself!
