  1. At the time I put the replacement last axel (of 4) on it was a newer stronger design. At the time I asked if they would supply the other two at cost (considering I'd replaced 4 by now) but they refused. If I need to tie something down I always go under the frame. The tie downs that attach to the wooden base are never going to be great. The channel idea sounds good. I wonder if if copes well with muck?
  2. I had a Graham Edwards tri axel flat bed and the axels were made of cheese!! The ifor has been much better!
  3. Can't help you over there chap, how long is the track? Road repairs can vary as much as £0.30 to £40 a meter.
  4. The only way (I'm willing to be corrected) I've come across is the rip the road up, re grade and roll the road. All other methods have just been temp repairs. I've seen a demo of one of the machines which add cement to bind and within 24 hours of it first failing the whole section was trashed (timber haulage route) I've done a lot of pre and post rally repairs and rip, grade and roll always gives the longest and strongest results. But the ripper alone costs 2k. A 40-dust aggregate holds better than clean stone as the natural lime creates a seal. Good drainage is also important. As soon as you have standing water either on or next to a road the second it freezes the road will begin to collapse. If you want to fix it so you don't have to keep fetteling it, it's going to take more than £600. Where in the country are you?
  5. At £600 it seems very cheap for what you're trying to do. Also concrete isn't great as a road surface. Try just 40mm to dust road stone and compact it in. A roller would be best but a wacker plate will do.
  6. Sorry if it's too late but ranskill hire are £125 a day tracked or towable just south of bawtry not a million miles away.
  7. £40-45t is for standard length straight logs. If yours is arb residues of non uniform size and form then at £20t I'd say you're about right. Stick £10 on for delivery in both instances(minimum). Or process and season yourself and sell for roughly £100 a cube for a quality product. If Nick is buying arb waste at £40t I'd get a wagons worth and give him a call. Like wise if Huck is selling his arb residues at £40t I'm increasing my roadside prices!
  8. I've found Torne Vally in tickhill to be reasonable on matching price lately. I've been getting through clearing saw blades and they're matching. Jonsies. I'm a husky man when it comes to saws so sadly struggle for a good dealer who can match prices locally.
  9. Saw that then it mentioned the pics/brochure again otherwise I'd had been more interested. Surely then you'd just put up a classified rather than play eBay games. It's put me off of considering it.
  10. Don't get too excited, the guys playing some sort of game. Reads like its just a brochure.....
  11. Which they must give you a receipt for and come tax time you have to claim it back!
  12. It is for wet ccf sites with coppice understory so the newer bigger machines are about the best compromise. I would prefer a big alpine but the vimeks give better ground clearance. It's all a compromise sadly.
  13. I'm waiting for Caledonian forestry to get back to me it's jim's first day back since Xmas as I understand. Thanks for your help!
  14. Cheers brushcutter, If anyone does or knows of some one who does then please get in touch.
  15. It can be like a weed here in notts s yorks.
  16. Seems to be a regular thing recently.
  17. We've an 11plate partner tepee. Lovely vehicle, drove it from briancon in the alps to Calais on my own just pee stops. Really comfy! Only niggle is it's had a few warning lights pop up no actual faults just needed to be plugged in to switch them off.
  18. Ment to paste this: http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/hcou-4u4jgn
  19. Drop into Cannock and see if you can speak to some one and see if they have any small lots going locally. Or Sherwood. Depends how far you're willing to travel. The Lincolnshire and northants beats have a few small hard wood parcels each year. Same for extra info on the bidding system. There will be some one able to have a brief conversation with you about it. I'm not sure who it is at Cannock. Charene has always been helpful, Carolyn Marshall at sherwood would be helpful with smaller lots if there are any.
  20. I like to think others have a basic level of intellect. For example, and if we are to be picky. I don't seem to have written anything about not being able to stop purchasing anything. As I'm on the app I can't view the other person who qouted at the same point in the thread to mention them in person. But their point was put across in an non condescending way and was helpful. Is it too much to expect?
  21. That's good for the unopened stuff but it could take a couple of weeks to use up what's open, and kind of gets in the way of progress. I want to crack on but equally hate wastage. The house isn't full of other people to use it up so was hoping for ideas on how to use up the things that in the macro term will expire but can't be used up in a day or two. An example would be, jars of chutneys/jam that are open, blocks of cheese left from Christmas, butter, flour, white rice, ketchup, open bags of pasta, flour, perl barly, bulga wheat etc...... I know in the grand scheme of things it's not a huge amount of money but throwing away food has always felt extremely wrong.
  22. Always going for the obvious, you must really think all other people are thick!
