Was it just your car? Round here if it is vandals they usually do quite a few cars. If its one car, it has been picked out for some reason. Upset anyone lately?

Ive a Bing carb for the 038, if you pm me your details i will pop in the post and send it out to you then its another thing you can cross off the list. If it solves it, stick a fiver in a poppy appeal box in november if it dont you can have a spare carb, but still stick a fiver in a poppy appeal box.

Is the plug tight? I once finger tightened a plug on a saw a then went to answer the phone, came back and forgot to finish tightening it. Drove me mental for a bit when it would only just start and ran badly.

I soak them in gunk degreaser in the parts washer then put them through the dishwasher and then polish to get a shine with WD40. One of the best thing i ever bought is a VAX hand held steam cleaner, its brilliant for removing stubborn dirt in hard to get places and works brilliantly for removing dirt that has ingressed into the scuffs and scratched on the plastics.

Blimey, Quite a few there, Where i used to work had a 6 week turnaround in the service shop this time of year and if you didnt like it you lumped it, Dare to complain and the mower was delivered back exactly 6 weeks after it was collected. People always came back though.

Did you remove the oil pump? Because if they are fitted wrong they dont work, i think the vertical groove faces away from the bar.

Thought i had seen it all, but this tops the lot. Km combi with a hole in the bottom pan, could be anything. Full strip down to find that someone has welded the con rod back together. So i assume the rods snapped and punctured a hole in the pan then its been stripped and con rod welded and rebuilt hoping it will work without repairing the huge gaping hole in the engine.

Both sides of piston damaged, i would expect more than just bad fuel.

Sounds very much like its the accelerator pump, send it to Spud. I very much doubt he will tell how to repair it on an open forum.

Lets start from the begining, where did the saw come from? why was is taken as a fixer upper? What is the compression like? easy compression test is if you hold the saw by the starter handle in mid air, the saw should be held on the rope and not unwind, if it unwinds and drops to the floor its got bad copression.

Is the plug getting wet? Suspicously sounds like a compression problem to me.

Spares or repairs stuff goes for more than running saws sometimes, it amazes me that peolpe will pay £150 for a saw that wont start (usually means it needs a top end rebuild) and not pay £180-£220 for a good runner. I sell a lot of parts on ebay all parts are checked and cleaned prior to going on sale, damaged of worn parts go in the bin. There is nothing worse as a buyer waiting for a part to arrive to get you back up and running and then it turns out to be damaged or not working.

The clutch holds the drive in place and causes the seal to seal on the crankshaft, no parts required, rebuild and cut wood.

Just picked up a stihl combi 4 mix not sure what model as tha name plate is missing, most parts are prefixed with 4180 --- --- i have a strimmer 4 mix fs90 and all the parts have the same numbers on them as the combi. Are all the engines on the 4mix machines the same?

Picked this up today MS361 was going to break it for parts but underneath all the muck its a nice saw, checked compression and its just shy of 170 psi. So she is going to get a full strip, clean and rebuild and added to the collection.

I wondered if it was anybodys on here as its all stolen stuff, someone posted about saws stolen a while ago in Newbury and this is where all the gear is from.
