  1. That would be my guess
  2. Will the tree cast shade on the extension?
  3. Forget the health and long term damage to the tree and think about reducing the risks in the short term.
  4. I thought you might
  5. Doing controversial work on a Sunday morning to avoid possible confrontation with planning enforcement doesn't build good relationships between TO's and contractors does it? It's not illegal but it is unprofessional imo.
  6. I agree with that, the repeat application fee would be one element that would be sooner avoided.
  7. But it doesn't do your reputation any good
  8. Interesting question, I don't know the answer but agree mostly with what gaz has said however, if there is no protection afforded to the trees, then what apart from a possible requirement for a felling licence (dependant on the amount of trees being felled) could stop you felling the trees and then reapplying for planning permission? I may seek further clarification on this myself.
  9. Yes fire damage is very common here. In cavities in old trees in counrty parks where litter has been set fire to. Stolen cars burnt out under trees. Wheeled plastic bins full of rubbish set on fire near trees. Vandals with flamethrowers attacking trees..... Ok the last one is a lie.
  10. Good answer
  11. From those pictures, I wouldn't suggest removal.
  12. Barcham trees would be my guess.
  13. I don't think that stops someone logging in. You could be logged in on one pc and log in on another.
  14. Really? the fact that you have a picture of me on your living room wall when I don't know you scares me. Please tell me you mean my avatar picture? If not, Steve please delete my account.
  15. Now I understand your point. You have only been asked to do the difficult work which requires a pro and then their mate has been given the cream. Tell em your busy, or you can squeeze them in for a fee, an inflated fee.
  16. Unless you agree otherwise, eg. I'll do the work for the wood.
  17. Whiy wood som bodi wan a do such bad fing.
  18. Well it is a charity afterall, if you feel it's not worth your effort for the wood you will get, don't do it.
  19. Yes I agree, its the ones which aren't common that throw me. Problem is, It's not difficult to find trees which are not common when you live in the north west.
  20. I have shelves full of tree I'd books, the most useful for this country have all been mentioned above. I often look at them and imagine how good it would be if I could inject all the information in those books into my head and not forget it. Does anyone think like that or am I weired ?
  21. Try some rust killer called fertan. About 20 quid a bottle on eBay Brilliant stuff.
  22. Difficult one:confused1: Ginkgo shape Alnus glutinosa Tree- shrub ? God knows I'll get the books out
  23. I had a go with a good one, from memory I think was called a laser ace. As others have said buy the best you can afford, really you don't want to be messing about measuring distances and working stuff out in the field if you can help it.
  24. when I first started climbing I used to think ash were brittle, I think it was because of the dryness of the wood and the ease that twigs could be snapped. After I had Pruned and felled a few large poplar and willow I soon realised the strength of ash. Experience and confidence comes in time.
