  1. How would one daisy chain a rope??
  2. Whats the best way to keep your lanyard tucked away when you not using in the tree?? I have a 5m lanyard and if I'm not using it in the tree but have it on my harness it gets in the way a bit.
  3. Ok Probably a little to far me to commute everyday, but if you are ever stuck give me shout, 07896016310. I have about 3 years experience with CS30,31,38, with 32 and 39 coming soon.
  4. Hey how far is Calne from Mere wilts
  5. Yeh well my dad, (in my profile pic) used to do all the big tree felling there and my dad in law is the head ranger of the whole estate so yeh is a pretty good place. Grew up around the estate.
  6. Its a national trust Estate so not too sure on the practicalities of that. My friends company Treefrog rec climbing sometimes hold events there.
  7. This is the tallest oak tree in the UK, filmed on my local estate at Stourhead in Wilts, same estate as the redwood in my profile picture. BBC News - Wiltshire oak tree declared UK's tallest
  8. Wooo Hooo Thanks!!!!
  9. HAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Poor guy, I wouldn't want that on TV.
  10. Hi, I've been playing the drums for around 11 years. Been playing in a band for a bout 9. We've had a pretty good run as a good busy function band. I also went to the academy of contemporary music for 2 years and earned myself a degree in Music Production. and had always planned to be a sound engineer, funny how things pan out isn't it. But I still keep my hand in. Done the festival circuit for the last 2 years as a live sound engineer including Glastonbury Festival twice.
  11. This isn't me but my old man. (holding the saw) The tree was the tallest on the National Trust Stourhead estate in Wiltshire. They used to do all the big felling there and this was an old Redwood.
  12. I like your thinking!
  13. HAHA ok thanks. Don't think the practice gob will help much with accuracy though!!
  14. OK thanks, think I know now plenty of practise till I know for sure.
  15. How do you guys make your gob/face cuts? I was taught that correct technique is to make the top angled cut first, but I find this technique less accurate. However, if I make my bottom cut first I struggle to get my cuts to meet perfectly and end up with a messy cut. I know its fussy but just want to get better!!
  16. I assume your going to center parks, longleat, just up the road is longleat forestry depot/sawmills where you can go and fill up your car with logs for a much better price (still) expensive. If not i'm only a few miles away with a yard full!
  17. Don't knock the digger ones, they have their advantages over tractors, they can so many more places a tractor can. Its great for fencing in woods and on slopes. And on the right machine its great, They won't work on a 1.5 tonne machine but we use ours on a 2.8 and is fine with a 120kg weight. I think protech are the best post bumpers.
  18. Had my first experience climbing the other day. Spiked up a small 25ft willow pole and absolutely loved it. Was bloody shaky but was worth it. Took me a while to completely let go of the stem and the spike took some getting used to, few slips . Can't wait to try some more and get my cs38 booked!!
  19. I wish I worked for some of you, Still early days mind. And only got cs30 and 31. Few more to do and a few more years experience to go I think!
  20. Do you have an 045av?? as my old man has me searching the net for a new sprocket
  21. Its amazing how much a digger and grab helps with big fires
  22. Good Evening, Does anyone know of any places that sell climbing kits: Harness, Rope, Spikes, Strop, Flipline etc etc in one package. I'm just starting out on my own and looking at costs for gear.
  23. Too right i forgot about that, The worst part!
  24. My old boss uses sump oil, Massive face palm!!! Not only does it make a right old mess its also no good for the saw. Like my old man before I have taken to using veg oil from the shop, smells like a chip shop, but makes your saw cleaner!!
