  1. Vibes, awkward to start, cheaply made, shit bar that comes with it... The stihl equivalent is much nicer to use and better made in my opinion. You get what you pay for though. Personally I'd get a husky 550 or stihl 261. More money but professional design, lots more power and better anti vibes.
  2. Why are people leaving it until the last minute? You've had 6 months to get it sorted.
  3. Magee has already posted it gloating on his insta 🤣
  4. Looks like you like dirty old willys
  5. You're right Alex. That comment was snide and twattish. I'm sorry. I did basically quote you though.
  6. Good to see you've found your voice again 👍
  7. Chain speed is irrelevant. They all show down in the cut, right? What size bar are you looking to run. The 181 is great value for money and handles 12" nicely. The husky 135 is wank.
  8. This, pretty much. Also you can have breathable or waterproof. Both just doesn't work. Swazi make some good shit.
  9. I'm sure there'll be a few local tree firms that wouldn't mind you picking up some softwood rounds off site. Offer the lads a drink and they might drop them off for you.
  10. Fair enough. There's plenty to be said for experience. Do you climb trees? For the application originally mentioned as a base anchor there can be a lot of cyclic loading and unloading of the knot, with rubbing on the stem added into the mix. I'm never under the gun to the extent that a few extra seconds for added redundancy matters. Another consideration is the difference in climbing lines. With rock lines being dynamic it would aid the knot to grip, whereas arb climbing lines are more static and often tight braids to run through devices, they don't always have the same knot holding characteristics.
  11. I didn't know the flat eight was a thing, but the very idea of it seems wrong. Why was it ever a thing? Seems lazy. The doubled overhand (I knew it as a water knot) is evidently well used in rock climbing but I just couldn't feel safe with it as a base tie. Not sure why.
  12. You say of course, like you assume everyone comes from a rock climbing background. Are you a tree climber too?
  13. To me a doubled figure 8 is a flemish bend. Takes maybe 3 seconds more than a doubled overhand knot. Which is the one that kills people? If its worth the bother to explain?
  14. I just don't see the drawback to a double figure eight compared to a double overhand. It's definitely more secure.
  15. How would that argument go? "You felled a tree that we asked you not to." "Did it have a TPO?" "Well, no" "Goodbye"
  16. Ah fuck. He was one of the real ones for sure. Stark reminder, doesn't matter how good you are. Thoughts to his poor family.
  17. Wind it in lads, they're was a much more entertaining derail going on before yours.
  18. He's giving off stalker vibes really
  19. They say an empty vessel makes more noise.
  20. Why did you go for a straight bury over a locking brummel?
  21. Because the callous wood grows from the branch collar.
  22. Smaller diameter pruning wounds will callous over if done correctly, if you leave stubs they won't be able to.
