  1. Yeah but how many threads/reviews did it take before you actually bought one?
  2. I'll try that with my boss' chequebook!
  3. A larger sprocket, with an extra driver. Standard sprockets have 7 slots. You gain chain speed at the cost of torque. Not advise able if you're running max bar length, but on a small bar it works well if you know how to cut. Many less experienced saw users tend to force the saw on the felling spikes, which IME causes a higher geared saw to bog down, voiding any extra chain speed you've gained. Sorry you asked?
  4. I've not had this problem. I have noticed that some of the blocking material pokes through the inner mesh where it it seen in, but I imagine it's designed that way, and is not a problem. Is this what you're talking about or has the actual stitching come away? IME Arbortec are a top company to deal with, so I'm sure if there is a fault it'll be rectified. I'd be surprised if the same person received two defective items!
  5. I run 13" on 50cc, 15" on 60cc, and 20" on 70cc Full Chisel chain and 8 pin rims on the first two. I prefer power over weight.
  6. Looking at these monoliths I'll bet you thought about posting a few of your reductions! Brilliant work David, it's a credit to you and your team. It's great that the purse strings fund projects like these. I believe it really is so important. I had the pleasure of meeting one of your climbers a while back (agent arb on here) in a motorway services. Nothing untoward, I just bought a pair of spikes from him. From the little I had a chance to talk to him about it, it seems to be really rewarding work. I trust you still get your lads topping connies at least fortnightly to keep them humble?
  7. Hi there, we're based in Rugby but often work near Kenilworth. PM me your number and I'll let you know if anything comes up. How much can you reasonably take? We only really let people take the wood from our clients gardens if they can take all that we leave and guarantee to clear up after themselves. Beer tokens always appreciated too
  8. Loving "Midnight Black" by The Temperance Movement Haven't listened to their other stuff, I'm worried it won't hold up. Not heard such a good sound come from a British band in a long time.
  9. Yup, the groundie caught a quick snap as my anchor point failed! Would be a good caption competition!
  10. Cheers guys, I'd been taking great pleasure in splashing the lads on the ground all day, luckily the guy in the boat decided against leaving me stranded 15' away from the bank!
  11. That's it. I'm chucking my lanyard in the bin and using the tail end of the rope! This is too confusing!
  12. Yesterday's job, reducing willows over a pond.
  13. Ooh, get you! I've considered getting ropes spliced both ends (I'll inevitably nick the rope near the splice at some point), but worry that a new rope often needs the cover milking off the core, and if both ends were spliced before this was done the extra cover would have nowhere to go. My current Blaze took over 3' of cover milked off the core!
  14. Ah, and what exactly is the "Ropepod"?
  15. Fair play, I wasn't really criticising. I've seen some of your rigging vids and enjoyed each one. Terrible shot of a moustache in one vid if I recall . I have one lad on my team who really makes me proud on the lowering, but sometimes when it comes to logs he finds it harder to guage than brash.

    Gyms :)

Ouch! Burn! Thanks mate. Sprite through the nose is deeply unpleasant.
  17. I never did, until I bought a 441 for my personal saw. The difference is night and day. I hate it though. I'll take the vibes for the extra power of the 460. Never bothered me anyway.
  18. Nice vid James. How long did it take to finish? Was the drop zone tight? There looked to be a few bits that could have been let run a bit more, but it's hard to tell from the video. Looked like a fun job.
  19. I don't buy it, that's the problem! I'm due a new line soon, I'd live CB with a splice, since I'd like to use SRT more soon, but getting it ordered will be a no go since no major suppliers stock it online! It seems that the ropes people are recommending for SRT are not available with a splice. Might just have to try Tachyon.
  20. Yup, I re spliced my 11mm XTC Blaze after 1 years use (it's never taken me that long to cut a rope before!) and a few cycles through the washing machine. It was hell. My palms blistered, I broke my girlfriends meat tenderiser on the bury, the banisters have never recovered from being used as and anchor, and I kicked the cat. To look at the finished splice, I'm sure I'm the only one that would climb on it. Then again, I'm the only one who saw how much blood, sweat and hate it took to finish the sod. Next time I'll just buy a new line.
  21. The New England HiVee is nice too. Both are really good lines.
