  2. We priced up a job the other day, the customer got back to us a few days later and aparently someone has paying HIM £100 to take the tree down!!!!
  3. Cheers for the replies!
  4. Cool. Cheers dude!
  5. Cheers Rob, the only prob is how well the greenmechs hold their value! I know thats good and its worth buying a new one and you will get a good return when you sell it but is still alot to shell out when you are starting up!
  6. Hiya, Has anyone tried a Titan Pro Beaver Chipper? I have read some good reviews about it, but im always abit warey about those review sites! It seams a simmilar design to the GTM range of small chippers...I realise that alot of people will snigger because it isnt a Jensen, Timberwolf etc but im just starting off and it seems like a good machine for the money, its approx £1800. Most of my work is small stuff and I work alone so im thinking it might be the ideal machine for me, any comments!? 10. Cool, thanks!

Cheers Swinny, ure not wrong there! Rich, the guy in question was the boss`s brother in law......im sure he wouldnt still be working for them if he wasnt! I thought it might be me so I said something to the boss, he agreed and said that he used to work with him but after 6 months he couldnt do it anymore either! Aparently they go through groundies at an alarming rate! Im open to criticism, that how we learn and get better but enough was enough!

Some words of wisdom! I find that you have to get on with who you are working with, at the end of the day you spend more time with your workmates than your other half! Im only a groundie but I completly agree with waht you are saying. Up untill reciently I was subbing to a local firm, just me and the climber on the jobs, he was very condecending and rude. He always used to bash on about how good other groundies were that he had worked with in the past........in the end I had enough and quit, just like the other groundies he was going on about! I accept im new to this game as ive only been doing it a year but we all gotta start somewhere and life is too short to dread going to work or biting your tongue all the time for a quiet life!
  13. Thanks for the replies! Looks like it might be worth a punt then, its the only mower I have found that has all the features I want and variable speed!
  14. Hope you get sorted! Atleast you have learnt your limitations working alone, its all to easy to fall into the trap of taking on more than you can do!
  15. Cheers for the replies! PM sent to paul:)
  16. Hiya, Im in the process of getting all my climbing kit, does anyone have an old pair of spikes they would be willing to sell? My budget is approx £50! Regards, Anthony.
  17. Hiya, Im in the market for a new mower, would like variable speed, collect and mulch. I have come across the Husky R53SV, it comes in at around £400 and does all I want (variable speed, mulch, collect and side discharge). I know its not a Commercial mower but I will mostly be doing small domestic work so it might fit the bill. Has anyone used one? Are they any good? I have read about the wheels being a little flimsy but if thats all that goes wrong with them then I might go for it! Regards, Anthony.
  18. Thanks guys, will prob give it a miss then! Cheers for the advice!
  19. Yeah, it dont look like a honda badge on it! TBH it was the engine that made me think of maybe having a bid!
  20. Cheers for that! I was kinda thinking/hoping it was! Maybe worth a punt then, would be good if she knew the model number though!
  21. Stihl 260/261 or the Makita equilivant if your starting out and want to buy new without spending the earth!
  22. Hiya, Im looking at buying a new mower, this one popped up on Ebay local to me. Anyone know what make it is!? It looks like it might be variable speed by looking at the controlls?? I have contacted the seller (a woman) who knows nothing about it! Its about 25 miles away from me and I dont have the time to go and have a look, hence this thread! Self Propelled Petrol Lawnmower with Honda GCV160 5.5 Engine | eBay Any ideas? Regards, Anthony.
  23. I got the same prob, very annoying!
  24. Wow, thats the first time I have ever seen a Poulan running!
  25. Good on ya graham, nice refreshing attitude! I started off like you, and now things are starting to take off! I mostly work alone and to be honest most of my jobs I do involves a silky, its amazing how much work you can get done with one! As most of my jobs are "small" it is just as quick to use a silky and its alot safer and cheaper to run than a chainsaw! Like others have said though they can bite back......! Something for you to think about.....I have a good working relationship with quite a few local arborists and work for them as a groundie when I dont have anything else on, when I get asked to quote for a job that is too big for me to do then I pass it over to the big boys and take a percentage cut for giving them the work, I also get work out of it groundying for them! Might be something to consider.........Anyway, hope it all goes well for ya mate!
