Hi all, This is Beaney my 18month old female terrier type dog, not sure what she is exactly as we got her at 10 month old from a client who found her in the forest. amazing temperament, and loves being around the trees and even knows to move a safe distance once the saws start up...except she loves to lick you .. steve

Hi Zorba , hope you get it sorted , it really is a great little saw. and likewise it still fetches good money here in Portugal (even non-runners ) out of interest .....How where your Olives this year ?? Here in Central Portugal we had a bumper crop. steve
  8. you are correct it does give a lot of heat but it takes too long for it to dry so it ends up being burned still slightly green, and here it is definitely the oil. i will try to find a link i have to a fire brigade video of it showing the oils heating up and spitting out 4.2m to another tree. steve
  9. hi , yes it is the oil, it makes bloody awful firewood , its what causes the fires here in Portugal and in Oz. steve
  10. hi there, Very common here,....It is the only Native pine in Portugal and luckily it is the only Pine that is resistant to the Pine nematode that is wiping out all the other pines. steve
  11. here in Rural Portugal , they are being sold on nearly every market !!, and the crazy thing is people are buying them... did anyone see the episode of `Watchdog` were they took them to a test centre ?? the brake handle snapped under only half a kilo pressure !!! steve

  17. Thanks for the informative answer. i am going to order a new piston and rings this week. steve
  18. Thanks Spud, what is a `Solid Piston stop` ??? thank
  19. Thanks for that link , great photos do you think i would have a problems fitting the new style piston into my old head ??? as i really dont wont to have to buy a new head as well !! :-( i was hoping that i could just by a new piston and rings. steve
  20. Hi folks, Ok i have stripped the head , and found that the barrel is only very lightly scored. but the piston has got bad scoring on the exhaust side of the piston , plus it seems to have a small dent / hole in the centre of the piston..... would this have been from the hot running of just pure petrol ?? Pics: (sorry for bad quality , but decent camera is in the work Land-Rover) Thanks Steve
  21. i have found that slicing an orange in half and using it to wipe on the glass does amazing things.
  22. Hi There, Many thanks Spud for recommending i check out this thread, very informative, i will be contacting you about my Echo Cs-8000,once i have stripped it. thanks steve
  23. Thanks for the info , just reading your thread now.... amazing thread, well done its certainly educating ! thanks steve
  24. Thank-you for the responses, i will check out that thread. i only really know Stihls , so this saw is a challenge, i have found some good cheap parts on the web , so i am hoping i can get it up and running cheaply. Just to add : it never seized, it just lost power then wouldn't start, steve
  25. Hi guys , interesting topic, Here in Portugal there is tons of brash left over from all the forestry, Pine and mainly the vast Eucalyptus plantations. the brash used to be left, but because of the fires , it has to be collected up now. but a few clever folks have set up companies with a few trucks with grabs on the back , they go around areas and gather it all up to a central point in that area, then large trucks come in and take it off to the power stations and also the factory's that make fuel pellets. they must be making good money as in only 2 years they all now have brand new trucks, and are able to pay you the forest owner / contractor €15 Euro a ton. as for the Eucalyptus stumps they are usually grubbed up and buried in trenches after a few harvest cycles, and the pines are cut low and left.
